Estradiol question

Post by pnj1718 »

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on my recent estradiol results. I started my first IVF cycle on 8/17 (lupron, gonal f and menopur) and am on cd10 - I had my first estradiol blood test on Friday which was 866. I had my cd9 estradiol blood test yesterday and my numbers went down to 750. I did some research and I found that either I am not responding to the meds properly or my eggs are not good quality. I am hoping someone has experienced this and can let me know what outcome this might have? I am scheduled for another ultrasound and estradiol test tomorrow and my RE said they don't want to make any assumptions until they take a look tomorrow. But in the meantime, I am anxioux to know what is happening. It looks like maybe my cycle might be cancelled? Any input you can give would be wonderful and greatly appreciated!

hi jodi

although i can't be of any help... just wanted to say good luck.

i started my lupron on 8/17 also... i went in on saturday for day 2 bw and us... i had 6 follies... then went back on tuesday for bw... and my estradiol was high at 400. the nurse said it is higher than they like and i decreased my meds a little.

i wouldn't worry about it going down... 750 seems like a good number from what i have read.

how did your latest tests go????

Hi,
Thanks for the encouragement. It has been a roller coaster ride for me all week! My estradiol went from 866 to 750 to 1655 and today was 1200. On Tuesday and Wednesday, my RE was thinking of either cancelling my cycle or switching to IUI..which I didn't want because my R tube is blocked so since there is no guarantee as to which ovary releases the egg, IUI is not a good option for me. My R ovary is dominate and I've only ovulated on my L side 2 times in the past couple of years.

So today, I got good news at my RE's office...we are going forward with the cycle. I have been on a high dose of stim meds from the beginning, nearly the max amount due to my previous testing. My follicles (I only have 5 total) grew nicely in the past 24-hours so that was awesome news. One more day today on the stim meds and then tomorrow when I go in for my US, they will give me my HSG shot and I'm scheduled for ER on Saturday and ET on Tuesday!! The doctor said things looked good and that we should proceed with the IVF cycle. He wanted to give my follicles one more day to mature and since we are doing ICSI, he feels confident for a successful cycle. My uterus looks perfect so....things are back on track!!

When is your ER and ET scheduled? I wish you all the best with your cycle.

AWESOME!!!!!! i am so glad to hear that you didn't have to cancel. that is one of my fears

5 follies is great! it only takes one :)

i don't have a right tube (i had an ectopic in february)... so i know all about being nervous about IUI's. i tried doing the IUI once... and even though i had 4 eggs on my left side... it didn't work.

i am sooo excited for you girl!!!!!!!

i go in tomorrow for bloodwork and ultrasound - that will be day 7 for me. i am going to ask them LOTS of questions so i can have a better understanding of what is going on etc...

what cycle day are you on today?

can you believe that you are just about there... you are getting your BFP in about 2 weeks!!!!!!!

Hi, WOW, that is great news! It looks like you will have enough follies! I think you are having a great response for CD7 ultrasound. I'm sure the ones that are smaller will grow in the next few days. I wouldn't be worried at all about your response, you seem to have more than enough!

I went to the doctor today and we scheduled my ER for this Saturday and my ET for Tuesday. My clinic does 3-day transfers. I even had one more follie today in my scan but it is not large enough. I take my HSG trigger shot tonight so I'm all ready to go. I'll be in the 2WW starting Tuesday next week! I'm so excited. We are doing ICSI so I'll be praying all weekend for the little embies to grow, grow, grow!! My Estradiol today went up to almost 1800 (from the 1200 it was yesterday) and my lining is perfect so now I'm ready!!!

You'll be here before you know it too! Here's to being PG together!!! Good luck! Keep me posted!!!

I know I can't believe it is finally time....excited does not come close to how I feel!!

I have a total of 6 follies...one was a late bloomer....and my follies ranged from 14.5 to 22. and my lining was at around 9.5 a few days ago and all my RE said today was that it was perfect! I didn't ask what he meant....they also said that they think they could get 4-5 of the follies to fertilize. We are doing ICSI so they felt confident to go forward even though I didn't have a lot of follies, but then they didn't think they would be dealing with a lot in the first place. I'm just thrilled that everything looks great and we are moving forward instead of canceling!!

My CD7 estradiol was 866 so that is not much lower than yours and my RE said that for CD7 that was perfect....then my estradiol has gone down, then up, then down, then up.....so from what I can tell, it must be OK or we wouldn't be going forward!

Good luck on Saturday, I'm sure everything will be just fine!!! Can't wait to share our success stories!!!

Take care,
Jodi
