Hi ladies! Today is my first day back at work. There were no students yet and so the day went by like a breeze. Next week is when things start to go crazy :?

Christin Good to hear that you've got that numbing cream. I guess as long as it's doing its job, it doesn't matter if it's a prescription or not, right? Let me know how that works for you. Good luck! I've asked my RE about the boy question. She said there's not enough research to support that. Asked me not to think too much about it  I guess we will be able to collect our own data when we get to know the gender of our baby, right??? hehehe... My RE did say though it's likely we will pass on the "bad" gene to our baby. Like in my case, if I have a son, then he will have a higher chance of inheriting male infertility :( But I agree with hellokitty, thirty years from now, there should be more advanced medicine to actually CURE infertility. I have high hopes for that.

hellokitty I am sorry to hear that you lost your mom at a young age. It must be hard. I am sure that wherever she maybe, she will be watching over you. Good luck on Friday!

Kelly You are going to be the first among us to annouce that BFP! I am so excited for you. I hope you will get the go for the trigger shot tomorrow.

Sonu911 I am glad to hear that your DH is by your side this time around. It's important that you get all the support that you need during IVF. It's such a difficult path to take by yourself. Keep us posted to how things go for you. Remember, we are here for each other.

Julieboo I know exactly what you are talking about. But guess what? It will be your turn to show off that bump of yours before you know it

Sleep tight. I am also going in for day 8 blood test and U/S tomorrow. Can't wait to see how much bigger my follies have grown!!!

Hi everyone,

Thought I might pop into this thread if you'll have me. I've been roaming the posts on and off for a few weeks now. I am also stimming at the moment and hoping to have my EC end of the week.

Just thought I would respond to Kelly as I was talking to her over on the Gen Forum. 8 follies/eggs is certainly a good number. I'm not sure what your clinic expects but I know a lot of women only get a few, so that's a fantastic outcome.

I am on day 12 of stimms. Much longer for me than my previous IVF cycle at another clinic. I am hoping for EC on either Fri or Sat..Just waitin for the call! Had a scan and bloods this morning. I have 26 follies but a lot of them too small to count, so ended up today with about 15 between 12 and 18mm. I think I counted at least 8 that were 16 and over. Few more days of stimming and hopefully we'll have a good number. I'm really not that fussed about the quantity this time, although I know you need high numbers to go for Blastocyst which is what I'm really hoping for this time.

Last cycle I got 15 eggs but only 3 x 4 cell embies. I had day 2 transfer and they froze 2 but both quite unsuccessfully!! This time, if it's a day 2/3 transfer I'm going to ask to put back 2 and send any others (wishful thinkin ey :-) ) on to Blastocyst before freezing. I'm a firmbeliever in changing things around a bit..No time to waste! My last clinic only waited til the follies were 16mm before EC, so I'm happy that I'm stimming for a bit longer this time round to maybe give the others a chance in this race..he he

So glad there's a few of us on the same page and it's great to read about everyone's progress. One thing I've learned form all this is to not get too hung up on the follies thing. They quite often get more eggs than the scans show and if you speak to alot of BFPers, many of them only had 1 or 2 embies and got a positive outcome so it can happen!

One last thing...sorry if TMI but when I go for my scans they say they are having trouble seeing my ovaries sometimes as they appear to be "hazy" and are saying my bowel is getting in the way??? Anyone else experience this????

Anyways, here's to a successful few days/weeks for everyone!

Lala, hopefully we'll all be sporting bumps soon enough! Good luck tomorrow! I'm going in for scan #2, and I think I'm actually starting to feel somethin' somethin' happening in the ovary area now.

I'm seeing kids officially for the first time tomorrow. I'm a little nervous. But it's keeping my mind off Babyboos.

Dexter, welcome to our little support group! Good luck to you this time around. My U/S technician said that the fuzzy thing usually happens because of too much fiber/use of Metamucil or something like that. Pleasant thoughts

Have a great night! I've got to get some sleep. Follie appointment tomorrow at 7 AM!

Hi Ladies,

Thank you all so much for your kind words. All of you reminded me that my mom is still with me, just need a little nudge sometimes when I find out unexpected things  !!

Kelly - How did your scan go?

Sonu911 - I'm glad that you found us! This is the only time that we are happy to see AF ugly face! Good Luck on your E2 test.

Christin - So excited for you today! Praying for some good news!!

Julieboo - I know exactly how you feel about everyone being preggo....I'm like hello where is everyone going for their water? I want a sip :D ! I have two cousins who "slipped up". I'm happy for them but a little jealous monster in me really, really wants it to be me! Waiting to hear the follie count....praying for your good news!

Lala - Glad to hear your day went by quickly yesterday! I know you will have an awesome follie report for us today...let us know asap!

Dexter - WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!! Excellant follie count. Sounds like you will be triggering soon.

Still cruising with the Lupron shots bu no AF, just the pains. I won't be suprised if she does not show up. My RE will make sure the E2 level is okay, along with my lining. Hopefully that is how it wil go on Friday. It finally cooled off here in Atlanta but now our evening thunder storms are making an appearance...never happy right  !

Hello every one

I joined your group and tyhen went away on holiday so have been trying to catch up on all the posts its getting very exciting now as most of us are now injecting.

Started my jabs today, I had forgotton about drinking plenty of water so reading your posts has reminded me thankyou!! I use a pen to give myself the jabs its not so bad. I am on the max amount of ampoules 6 per day so have to give myself 2 jabs, DH draws them up and I stick them in!

We dont have a choice here in the uk about how many embies they put back, they will not put in more than 2, I would go for the 2 as I feel there would be a better chance of one implanting.

I have been having accupuncture since January for fertility reasons, I think it is really good for relaxation if for nothing else. Its very interesting to see where the needles take effect and where you don't really notice them, in the fertility areas they really sting!! Would make sense as there are problems with fertility!!

Keep the follies growing!

Sending out good thoughts to you all

Good afternoon everyone :D

Dexter
Welcome aboard. Wow, you have great words of encouragement and wonderful advice. Glad to have you!! Looking forward to hear about your EC! Good luck and gets lots of rest.

Julieboo
No more cravings yet! I am trying my hardest to curb those things..LOL. Did you get the donut? If not you should...you owe it to yourself!

In terms of everyone being pregnant, I think there is def something in the water, but a cruel joke has been played on us and the water has been hidden. Two ppl I work with just told me they were pregnant. My two best friends are pregnant. Another girl that I go to church with is pregnant. It is never ending. I just keep postive though.

How did your appt go today?

lala
How did the scan and b/w go?

Sonu911
Yeah AF!!! Now, hopefully she will disappear for the next 9 months!! Can't wait to hear what your next steps are. Good luck.

hellokitty
The weather is the same here. Warm, and now rainy. But it made for an excellent nap earlier!

Update
I have 16 follies. My right ovary seems to be responding much better than my left. I have 10 on the right (sizes 10, 9s, 8s, and 7s). I have 6 on my left (sizes 10, 7s, and smaller). My Estrogen level was 471. This is the 6th day of stimming (doing my 6th stim injections tonight). The doctor is keeping me at 300IU of Follistim, 250IU Menopur, and 10 units of Lupron.

They are still thinking that Tuesday or Wednesay will be the ER day. I have my next appt on Friday. I can't wait to see how my follies have grown. I was getting discouraged about the size of my follies, until Dexter sent her message. It made me put things into perspective!

Can't wait to hear from everyone today!!!

Hey everyone-

I went in for my 2nd u/s today (my clinic doesn't start with the u/s until day 8 of stims). I am now on day 10 of stims which the RE says is when they usually get the best results. My DH is giving me the trigger shot tonight at 8:30 pm and then I am scheduled for ER on Friday morning! I can't believe it's all finally happening :D :D :D .

I have about 16 follicles and probably 8-10 of them will be at the right maturity when retrieved (my clinic wants them at 18mm before retrievel). I have only 4 on the right side and about 12 on my left side. It's funny because I thought it would be the opposite, my left overy has two endometrioma's on it (one about the size of a golf ball) and I thought that would be the side that would have problems producing. I am happy with today's news and hope the news just keeps getting better!

Dexter- Welcome welcome to this thread! It's so good to have you here. You and I are on the same schedule and maybe even doing ER the same day! It sounds like you have created beautiful follicles and eggs. Thanks for the words of encourgement when they are needed most. You are right, quality is much more important than quantity and it only takes 1 good quality egg/embroyo. Keep us all posted! It will be exciting to hear.

sonu911- Congrats on AF coming to visit. Isn't it funny how we are happy when she comes right before treatment? Hopefully this will be your last for 9 months.

Julieboo and Hellokitty- I totally agree with you about everyone being pregnant. I think I am the last of all of my friends to be pregnant and even my little sister has 2 beautiful children now. It's now our turn!!

Lee- Welcome back! Happy stimming!

Christin- Your follicles/ eggs sound GREAT! Good luck with everything, you are only a few days behind me.

Hey, all!

Kelly, that's so exciting! It's so close! I hope you get the BFP ball rolling for all the August/September girls.

You too, Dexter!

Christin, I'm lucky that none of my friends have really started to have families. At least I don't have to look at their bellies and scowl.

Hi, Lee! Welcome back. Where did you go on holiday? Acupuncture sounds like it would be nice. If it doesn't work this month, maybe I'll try that. Apparently I need to start doing something different.

Sonu, good luck with starting your stimming! We're glad you found us too.

Update...

It wasn't the best appointment today. I have a lot of little follies, no real change from Monday. My estrogen level dropped a little bit, which scares me. I was cancelled last month because of that very reason. The nurse says it's nothing to worry about, and they're changing my dosage to 3 amps of Menopur plus the .5 ml of Lupron. I have to go back Friday. I really really really don't want to be cancelled again. This might sound backwards, but I'd much rather get to the end of this cycle and get a BFN than have the thing cancelled. At least if I can get to the ER point, I know my ovaries are actually doing something of use. Ugh.

I know I'm overreacting. It's probably just what the nurse said, no big deal. Anyway, I'm trying (starting right now) to stay positive.

Good luck to everyone! I need some good news!

I went in for my 8th day blood work and ultrasound today and I got a good report. My RE is very happy with it :P There are 19 follies today and 16 of them are about 10mm and 3 are about 5 to 6 mm. My estrogen today has gone up to 731 (something like that) from 400 something since Monday. I go in again on Friday. My ER probably will be on Tuesday and my trigger shot on Sunday night. So, the big event is really around the corner. I am so excited!!!

Lee Welcome back. Hope things are going well for you. How are the jabs working for you? Yeah. Make sure you drink plenty of water!!!

Dexter You have found the right place! I have found so much support here. In fact, I am getting addicted to the ladies here. Now that I need to start working again, it "itches" to not be able to check the group out regularly  Good luck to your ER!!! It does sound like you will have many beautiful follies. Good job!

Julieboo I know it's hard but try not to stress too much over it. Remember stress can do ugly things to our body. Do you go in again on Friday? Best of luck to you!

Kelly THAT's awesome news! I am so excited for you. Make sure you let us know how things turn out, but only do that when you have rested. By the way, are you feeling bloated at all? How about being nauseous?

Chrstin Congrats on that excellent report you got today! Don't our follies make us proud? GROW FOLLIES GROW!

Congrats on the report!!! I am so happy for you. Keep up the good work!

All
I wanted to pass along some advice that was given to me before I started my stimms. One of my friends offered to donate her eggs to another friend, since her eggs were not of good quality. Because of the sensitive nature of this, they had to go through extensive counseling. One thing that the counselor told them was that it was 1) Important to be stress free as it will affect your body's reaction to the meds, and 2) On the day that you are scheduled to find out whether or not you are BFP or BFN, for you and your husband to plan something that day. She said that it is important for you to still have something to look forward to that day, even if the news isn't want you were hoping for. I thought it was good advice, and thought that you gals would benefit from it also.

So I am trying to remember to do that, and to think of something awesome for us to do that day. I want it to be only the two of us, JUST IN CASE, so that I am not crying with a bunch of friends/family around. I am thinking maybe taking our 3 golden retrievers to the lake or something fun with them. They always make me smile...they are our beautiful babies!!!

Also, last night I went to a seminar at the fertility clinic, and they had a lady that is a clincial social worker. She spoke to us about relaxation techniques. Her advice was to do things like Yoga, Accupunture, Massages, Walking, listeing to peaceful music while laying there quiet and clearing your mind. It is scarey what stress can do to your body. It is something that we all need to try to keep out of our lives for the next few weeks especially, and then for the next 9 months after our BFP. So last night, I went to Target to buy me a Relaxation CD and a Yoga DVD. I went to sleep last night with the music (it was very nice...just kept it on a really low volume). When I woke up this morning, I actually felt good. Then I pulled out my Yoga mat, and did some stretching from the DVD. I am trying my hardest to only think of postive things. I know it sounds coo-coo, but I know it is the best for our follies, and ultimatly our embies and babies!

Well I am going to try to start settling down for bed. I will chat with you gals later.

Hi Ladies,

Lee - Welcome back!!! Sounds like you and DH got the shots down to a science. About the accupunture, did they tell you why it stings in certain areas? Is there infection there, insufficient blood flow? I seriously considering having some sessions just for relaxation purposes.

Christin and Lala - Excellant follie counts!!! Ohhh you guys are right on target for some great numbers!
Christin - Those are awesome suggestions. I'm talking to DH as I write this and we are planning an overnight stay at a bed and breakfast!

Kelly - Great news!!! Soooo excited for you tonight!!! You are almost at the finish line! Keeps us posted.

Julieboo - Glad you are keeping that PMA going. I know it's hard. I'm just trying to keep in my that us PCOS girls are slow to respond and hopefully take off a little later. I feel the same way about maybe getting cancelled again. But hopefully we will only need a few extra days. I'm saying we because I really feel we are all in this together. So, wake up follies, you have work to do :D !!!

As for me, still on my roller skates with Lupron. Still no AF but not too worry about that.

Post by sonu911 »

Hey All....

Thanks a ton, huns!! May God doesn't show the ugly face of AF to anyone of us for the next 9 months !!

And....then in JUNE..... :) fingers crossed!!

UPDATE - I started with Gonal F 225 units and Menopur with Lupride 15 units. This time Follitism is replaced by Gonal F. My E2 count was 38 on the 2nd of my period which is pretty normal.
Another change in plan, my ET will be on 9/9 or 9/10 which is almost week earlier. Please pray for me that my DH reaches here on time. :(
For me it has never been smooth sailing...when every thing seems to be going right and suddenly some obstacle appears out of nowhere!!

Kelly - ALL THE VERY BEST FOR FRIDAY.
Loads and laods of baby dust to u!!

Lala - Wow!! 19 is an excellent number. I am so excited for u...I think I am going to follow u.
Christin - Excellent thought!! My sister is starting with IVF and she is diagonsed with fibroids, I keep telling her things I read her on this forum. Its so helpful-there are three main things I advised her (pl. correct me if I am wrong)
1. To keep down the stress level by relaxing.
2. To remove toxins from the body by drinking lots of water.
3. To have a good blood circulation with some yoga and walks.

Last two times, after giving blood sample, I waited in the clinic for the result and it was mentally too taxing. This time I am going for a movie and then for lunch with my DH. :)

Julie - Just keep your PMA, dear!! You will definitly reach ET and then BFP!!
Right now, just think about the wonderful follies and then the motherhood. Lots of baby dust to u.

Hellokitty- Any news on AF, yet? I like your attitude, keep it up...yes, wake up follies...grow bigger sweethearts...mommies are waiting anxiously!!
Lee - Welcome back...I think we are together on stim medication. Today i.e Thursday was my first day.

Dexter - You write so well, don't dissappear, dear. Oh!! it must be your ER...hope everything went off well. lots of Baby Dust.....to u!!

Hi everyone

Kelly and Christin

Good luck for tomorrow morning Kelly with the ER, and for Christin having a good follie count, will be thinking of you both.
Christin Relaxation is definately the way to go, good advice about doing something on 'THE DAY' will follow that, sounds nice going to the lakes with your dogs.

Dexter

You are right quality not quantity counts it only takes one embie to make a baby.

Hellokitty and Julie

Hellokitty how does AF not showing up affect your IVF cycle sorry if you have answered this before?

I didnt go far just up the road to a caravan park, we look after foster kids so I took them away for a week as we are getting to the end of our summer break here, back to school next week and then I am taking a month off for the IVF. Last time we went through IVF I had some really hard kids so the stress didnt help! It definately makes a difference to try and relax!

The accupuncture is good I am a holistic therapist so I believe anything you can do to help it along cant harm you. The kidneys play a large part in fertility and when I had accu in my kidney area it felt like she was stabbing me! Also there is an ovary point on the ear and mine was really painful to begin with but less so now and when I went for my last scan my left ovary was normal (not working before) so there has to be something in it along with taking DHEA. I also had a major infection in my wisdom tooth at one point when I went which had nerve damage from having it taken out a week before. She worked on my ear for my tooth and it bled like crazy afterwards. The best thing was tho that when I woke up the next morning the nerve pain was gone and the swelling had gone right down. Nothing to do with IVF I know but just another example of accu working. I also have Reiki as well sometimes a good relaxer!
Good luck with your appointment tommorrow. You all seem to see your consultants so much more, I went for a scan to see if I could start Stimming and then wont go back until day 10, we have no bloods taken either?
Stay positive sending you lots of positive energy.

Lala

Shots ok, stung a bit this morning and I am getting loads of spots! Anyone else getting any, I didnt have any symptoms at all last time maybe that means its working this time. Good luck for you as well tomorrow. It looks like tommorrow is a really important day for lots of you.

Happy thoughts to every one else I havent mentioned!

Catch you later, sorry most of my post is in bold cant figure this pc out half the time!

Trigger HCG shot

Post by KM0803 »

Hey all-

I have a question for you veterns. Last night my DH gave me the HVG trigger shot in my hip (Chronic Gonado) and now I am in Pain!!! I feel like I'm limping when I walk, it's like someone kicked me really really hard in the hip. Is this normal and if so is there anything I can do to lessen the pain?

Any advice would be much appreciated.
