HELLO EVERYONE. I'VE NOT BEEN ON FOR QUITE SOME TIME, EXCEPT TO DROP IN & READ A COUPLE OF TIMES. IT'S FANTASTIC THE WAY YOU HAVE DONE THE SUMMARY. I FEEL I DIDN'T MISS AS MUCH SINCE I CAN QUICKLY CATCH UP. I HAD A VERY BUSY YEAR SO FAR DUE TO ILLNESS & URGENT BUSINESS IN MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY. ALL IS FINALLY CALMING DOWN SO I REENTERED TREATMENT. I HAD A 5DT W/2BLASTS ON 8/26 SO MY 2WW ENDS 9/7. THE BLASTS WERE GRADED "1AB" & "1BA". THE CLINIC'S GRADING SYSTEM WORKS AS FOLLOWS: THE NUMBER IS BASED ON THE RATE OF CELL DIVISION & DEGREE OF FRAGMENTATION W/"1" BEING BEST. THE 1ST LETTER REPRESENTS INNER CELL MASS (OR CELLS WHICH BECOME A BABY), & THE 2ND LETTER REPRESENTS THE TROPHECTODERM (OR CELLS WHICH BECOME A PLACENTA). "A" IS "GOOD", "B" IS "MEDIOCRE", & "C" IS "POOR". WE ALSO HAD 3 BLASTS FROZEN. IS ANYONE ELSE FAMILIAR W/A GRADING SYSTEM LIKE THIS? IF SO, CAN YOU OFFER ANY INSIGHT? I CAN HARDLY GET HAPPY ABOUT THE 1'S & THE A'S, BECAUSE I'M WORRIED ABOUT THE B'S.

Hi everyone!

So sorry I haven't been able to post till now. and because I know many are waiting the news I have yet to catch up on the news here. So without further adieu.

Yes I have a BFP :D

along with OHSS :(

I've been in hospital till last evening. I had to have my belly tapped, 4Liters worth of ascites. have an appt tomorrow and may have to be re-admitted :( definitely re-tapped.

the REs assure me this is a good sign [silver lining] that the pregnancy has taken and progressing. The hormones from the pregnancy are the cause of my fluid build up. I really feel like a beached whale. I was happy to come home to my own bed last evening. All in all I'm doing well.

Everybody take care. PMA to all along with best wishes.

Hello Everyone,

Haven't had chance to post for ages but managed to have a quick read every now and then.

Firstly Catherine congratulations on the BFP and sorry to hear you have OHSS. BigJ sorry to hear your news but you still sound positive. Kat and Jen good luck with your up coming treatments.

Well I think it was about 12 months ago that i last logged on here and alot have changed since them. I think i was in a total flap the last time as the hospital had found me a donor and I wasn't sure if i wanted to do it. After two big holidays to New York and Australia i did alot of thinking and tlaking with DH and we both decided that DE wasn't for us, we just couldn't bear the trauma again as our chances are so slim even with young eggs. Plus this year i have found out that my main fibroid has gorwn so much it covers my left ovary right down to the bottom of my cervix completing crushing everything in it's way and this has left me completly infertile and cannot be removed without having a full hystorectomy.

God this sounds so full of doom and gloom which it isn't meant to because we have made some life changing decisions which are brilliant. We have started the adoption process and although it is early stages we only have the home visits left before we go to panel. We have done all the CRB checks, medicals and classes. Are hope is to adopt two young siblings. Although they won't be our blood children they will still be our children and this really does feel the right thing for us to do so much so i feel I want to tell the whole world what we are doing. Although the process is hard i am so happy and can't until the day we hopefully get our children. So much so for the first time in my life i am actually dieting and have managed to lose 10.5 pounds in 8 weeks i still have about another 8 pounds to lose but boy do I feel better. During the treatment I semmed to pile on the weight and then I couldn't shift it.

Hopefully it won't be so long before I post again and I will keep you updated on how it is going. And I also wanted to let you know that there is light at the end of tunnel for those of us who can't continue down that IVF road.

Love,

Jane

Hi ladies

Catharine - Congratulations on your BFP! Bummer about the OHSS tho. I was doing some back reading on this thread and you mentioned you were taking DHEA supplements. Would love to think that this helped in getting such a good response! I know you need your rest at the moment  , but if you get a chance could you drop me a line on your DHEA protocol if you don't mind sharing. (Such as dosage and no.of weeks taken before cycling. Did you take it at the same time as Chinese herbs as I've been seeing a herbalist for a few months now and am wondering whether they react together?) I am self prescribing at the moment and need all the advice I can get - Especially when it gets results like yours!!!

JaneR - I'm just new to this thread so you won't recognise me from before but congratulations and good luck with your new instant family!

Chriss and LuAnne - More BFPs for this month please! When are you testing?

Everyone else - have a good weekend! Am debating whether to do the usual Friday drinks after work thing - or should I be good and start detoxing my system for the next cycle..!? Hmmm temptation calls!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I had another 2 liters removed yesterday. I feel much better. My kidneys no longer feel smushed. I have another appt with the clinic on sept 2 to make sure I do not neet more removed. The clinic is monitoring alot of hormone and organ fnx markers at the moment, this dictates whether I'll be readmitted or not. So yes the estradiol and progesterone levels are still being monitored.

Sending some of that fabulous baby dust to Chriss and LuAnne. How are your 2ww going?

Andrea-I was taking 50mg DHEA daily. I'd been taking 25mg for a weight loss program for several months then a month before my treatment protocol I upped it to 50 mg. I took this in conjunction with the chinese herbs and ACU. Because DHEA is a precursor hormone to many different hormones including melatonin [affects our sleep cycle]. I took the DHEA in the morning. The other thing I did this go around is for lunch I had yogurt. Dannon's Le Creme brand its the only brand I could find that was not 99% Fat free. I was looking for yogurt that had not had the fat removed [whole milk]. I had heard this helps the endometrial lining receptivity. who knows it may have in this case.

Outside of the OHSS I really do not feel pregnant. I'm afraid to begin to consider this part yet till we see the heart beat. The RE potentially saw the gestational sac yesterday. It really is too early to confirm. Sunday we may have a clearer picture.
Besides confiding in all you lovely ladies, I've only confided in one friend about this rollercoaster trip. She too suffers from infertility and currently has a wonderfull 22month old boy. Along with my gyno, she recommended the clinic we're using. DH is on cloud 9 as you can imagine. At the moment our focus is on my the tummy distention issue. Once I've crossed this hurdle we'll have to figure out how and when to tell our respective families. His family is not a problem; they'll just be shocked. Should make great entertainment. It's mine that will be interesting, especially since they have not talked to me in 2.5y. But we both feel they should know in case they would like to be a part of our lives again.

Here's to PMA and BFPs.

Wishing everyone all the best. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hello Jane, sounds like soon you'll be the mother of two! :D About 5 years ago, after numerous failed IVF cycles, my cousins adopted 1 yr. old twin girls and they are the light of their parent's eyes and our family. Best of luck to you and your DH on your exciting journey to parenthood! Thanks for sharing your story.

Thanks Catharine for the update and tips! Glad to hear you are beginning to feel better. Sorry to hear of the break with your family some time ago. Do hope they can be happy for you and your DH when you eventually decide to tell them the news. In the meantime, take care of yourself!

Chriss & LuAnne- hang in there girls. Hope to read about your BFP's in the near future! Lots of luck, PMA and baby dust to you.

Andrea - how much DHEA did you eventually decide to take?

How nice, Tammy, that you can bring Andrew into the office with you and that you are so supportive of everyone here. (The support from everyone here is really reassuring and wonderful!)

CONGRATULATIONS Catherine. What fantastic news! So pleased for you. Take care xxx

Wishing Chriss and LuAnne all the luck in the world for BFPs next week.

Sorry, no time for personals and actually I am checking out for a while because we’re off on holiday up to the North coast of Germany for about 13 days for some serious relaxing. Got a box full meds with us because I’ve started treatment! The first injection was on Thursday and AF should arrive whilst we’re away.

I’ll be missing you loads and thinking about you all. I’m sure there will be at least 2 more BFPs to read about here when I’m back (around 14th Sept.)

Love to everyone
