Thanks guys

And thanks for the new stats to the group updated list. Love the emoticons, but Monday July 30th is the day I went into labour, and was in labour for 3 days. Tiago was born on Wednesday Aug 1st 9.20pm.

Denise - you are one cute chick, and you look beautiful in all your pics, and I'm sure your post preggie belly ones will be just as lovely :D .
Have you found that your hairs changed yet? Man mine isn't proper afro curly as there's alot of mixed blood in my family lol, and it was more wavey- straight, where as my sis is more curly-indian sleekness when combed back. Well my hair went proper thick and tight curly when I was pregnant, and still is hard to handle, was just wondering if you've changed the way you do your hair or products to manage it. Is it any different to before?

Marcia, I changed the date sorry about that I tried to get the date without re-reading the post, I still hurt for you.

Yes my hair is a crazy mess, it is less kinky now, but if I press or relax it, it is good for the first couple of days, then it gets big... even though it is less kinky, it still is bad.

I have started using baby hair products and my hair is so much softer. Typically, my hair rebels against anything other than a specifc brand (Design Essentials) (http://www.designessentials.com). The brand I am using now is Kid's Organics by Africa's Best (I love it!!!).

Sha, Miss Piggy I can't believe you haven't gained any weight (or only 2kg)!, I gained 6kg in my first trimester - I stopped weighing myself then because it was too deperessing! I haven't been eating that ridiculously either, well not since the nausea went at around 14 wks - I think that was my undoing, the only way to stop feeling sick was to eat! Mind you I was also on an exercise ban from 1-12 wks and again from 16-21 wks because of bleeding so I'm guessing this also contributed as I used to run 5 miles a day before I became pregnant, so even without the baby, just stopping running would have made me put on weight. I have to say I'm surprisingly unfased, I'll worry about it afterwards.
Sha, I also think I'm having a boy, not sure why!
Marcia and Denise, my hair is the only part of me which is behaving at the moment - stomach clearly popping out, although more beer bellyish than proper pregnancy belly - bottom has joined the party for some reason best known only to itself - but my hair is definitely doing a shiny version of its former self, which is rather nice!

Has anyone else found the midwives they've seen so far to be utterly useless? Neither of the ones I've seen have heard of an arcuate or bicornate uterus (have they done ANY training at all?? its even mentioned in the Baby Centre website, hardly a mecca of medical information), then the second one decided it was the same as an antiverted (tilted) uterus and kept saying that they wouldn't send anyone to see the obstetrician for an antiverted uterus. I explained to her 4 times that an arcuate uterus isn't the same thing as an antiverted one, I even showed the scan pics which clearly shows the structure and explained how it was formed and the problems it can cause, and she just didn't listen. Not deliberately I don't think, I didn't get the feeling she was being malicious, I just don't think she was the sharpest tool in the box. In the end she said well you can make an appointment to see the obs at 32 wks on your way out of you want to - wish I had known it was this simple at the beginning. The only thing is that it can apparently cause growth problems and potentially premature labour, does anyone know whether 32wks is a bit late or whether this will be fine?

Sorry to rant, but I have a worrying lack of confidence in the widwives at the hospital - the thought of any of them being responsible for the birth is just terrifying. I think its probably just a London thing where the nhs is so overstretched and you never see the same person twice (although at the moment this is a relief!), but unfortunately that's where I'm going to be.

Hope you're all well and blooming

Totaly understand the Midwife thing, Not one of the one's i have seen knows anything about a bicornate uteruss (which i have) i did get my own way and see a consultant but even he was useless and said its a wait and see case!!!!! he just stated that he didn't want me going over my due date! (thats if i get there as it can cause prem labour)
he said that he will check me over again at 34 weeks and see what possition the baby is in then and go from there. thanks for all the helpfull info NOT!!!
i waited 2hrs to see him and the consultation lasted all of 5 mins, typical NHS if you ask me.

well thats my rant over sorry

as for gaining weight i really don't know why i havent put on any, not that i'm complaining mind, my belly is growing but some days its bigger than others, it all depends on which way the baby is laying, i'm more sure than ever its a boy now as the kicking that goes on inside is mad on times, hes either playing football or having a good old dance in there :D

hope everyone is doing well

Sha, I went to see my GP today and explained the whole 'midwife not ever having heard of a bicornate uterus' debacle, and she said that the growth of the baby should be monitored as this was a good indication of whether there may be a problem with premature labour and said I should see the obs as soon as poss so that they could start this now. She then phoned the hospital and changed the appointment from 32 wks to next week (impressive! I can't even manage to get through the switchboard!) So I am now at least seeing the consultant next week, but it remains to be seen whether he will do anything or just adopt the 'wait and see' approach that your consultant did. If he does that's fine I guess, at least I'll feel happier that its on my notes and they're aware of it. I'll let you know what he says, the appointment is next Tuesday.

Miss Piggy, I have decided to love my bump and just not look behind me (bottom has exploded spectacuarly!) until at least 3 months post birth!!

I wanted to give you all the update as to what has been going on with me. On Tuesday I went into preterm labor, I was having contractions 5-7 minutes apart. When I got to the hospital, the Dr. gave me Nifedipine and the contractions became less frequent. I was released from the hospital and sent home (after about 4 hours). After 2 days of bed rest, I once again started having frequent contractions (I had been having contractions since Tuesday), this time they were 2-3 minutes apart. After waiting to see if they would stop or calm down, we finally went to the hospital again and when we got there the contractions got far worse than they had been on Tuesday. This time the Dr. gave me an IV, Nifedipine and Vistarel. The contractions once again slowed down, but they did not stop (and they still have not stopped), so I am on bed rest. Thankfully my job is letting me work from home, but the Drs are not sure for how long I am going to be able to do that.

Originally they wanted me to just be on bed rest with no work, but since my job is not really stressful nor hard, until further notice, it is ok for me to work. I am frustrated that I cannot go anywhere, but I know it is for the best. I have contractions when I am in bed, but I have really strong ones when I have to get up and go to the bathroom or kitchen. I cannot cook anymore because if I stand for more than 5-10 minutes, I start having the really painful contractions.

I believe in my heart that these two will hold on for another month, my psychic prediction is that they will be born the week after my birthday (Oct. 21-27), they will be 34 weeks then. As of Thursday, the babies were 27 weeks. Please pray for William Evan and Victoria Marie.

I will be praying for you and the little ones.
Take it easy.
Just one thing I have just had a freind stay with me and her son.
Her son was born at 27 weeks, he was the size of a 24 week baby.
He is just so tall now, at eight years old and wearing size 10 to 11 clothes.
Just thought I would tell

Denise,

will be keeping everything crossed that those little ones stay nice and warm in your tummy for a good few weeks longer.
just to let you know a friend of mine was carrying twins and went into prem labour at 24 weeks, they done everything they could to try and stop it but no luck, she gave birth to 2 little boys
Twin A weighed in at 1.9lb
Twin B weighed in at 2.7lb

and you will be please to know that, that was 10 weeks ago now and both babies are doing just fine and should be home in a few weeks.

Hi ladies, I am just checking in to say that things are going well being on bedrest. The contractions are significantly less! Today I did have to take a midday break from working, but it was not becasue of the work, my dog was acting like a fool and forced me to chase him, (very bad idea and I will not do that again).

I am glad to hear that everything is going well with you all! I am struggling to gain weight now for some reason. I cannot get past 155 and it is frustrating. (At one appointment a couple of weeks ago I was about 160). Any suggestions on healthy weight gainers? (Healthy food, drinks etc?)

Hugs to all.
