2WW - What medications are you on and how often bw?

Post by tsdon »

My wife had ivf 6/7 days ago. she takes an oral estrogen pill and has been getting shots of progesterone. It seems some of you out there take both as a pill? Are there other drugs you are taking now post ivf during 2ww? And what is your schedule for bw? 2 weeks later or during the 2ww to check levels? Alos, what is beta test? Is that the same a hcg? thanks

tsdon -

I don't think beta test is same as hcg. hcg stimulates the ovulation, I think, and the beta test is a blood test to confirm if you are pregnant.

I am currently on 2ww 8dp3dt. I am taking progesterone shots at night and I take a prenatal vitamin and low dose baby aspirin in the morning.

hope that helps. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU BOTH! :P :P :P

My beta pregnancy test is 9/10 @ 10:10 am.

Hi,
I think that it can be confusing with beta test, because they do measure HCG levels in your system and if it is more than 2 (every clinic is different, some do 5) than you are considered to be pregnant.

and so the beta test is usually at least 10 to 14 days after ivf? I don't really want to have her take a hpt - for some reason I don't like them even if they have value.

should we make appt to get a 'beta' (is this the actual name of the test?) from a dr here instead of hpt? We had our ivf outside the country and are not going back next week when the 14 days are up.

The blood test they do at the doctor to determine if you are pregnant or not is called a Beta-HCG. It measures the HCG level in the blood and depending on the level, tells you if you are pregnant or not. There are some doctors that will do a urine test, same idea as an HPT. It also measures the amount of HCG in the urine and detects a level (or not) and determines if you are pregnant.
Typically, the blood test is most accurate in determining early on if you are pregant or not, as it can measure a lower level of HCG. Although HPT's claim to also detect these lower levels, they can be inaccuate. If you read some of the other threads, there are at least a handful of women who have done an HPT, got a negative, then had a bloodtest and were positive and pregnant.

You can simply ask your doctor to "do a bloodtest to see if your wife is pregnant", they will certainly know which test to perform.

Hope this information has been helpful!

Good luck and lots of sticky baby dust to you both!!
