Baby's heart beat at last!

Post by Tracey S »

Phew just got back from the midwife and heard the baby's heart beat for the first time - how amazing is it! - you were all right of course and my blood pressure has come back down from the reading at the 12 week scan - suprised I didn't blow a gasket - it was 153/86 there - I ask you - back to my normal at 120/70 thank god!
Just wanted to say thanks for all the support and though I still have the colitis and on steroids it is a relief to hear it all.
Getting the odd fluttering too.
Hope you are all well
Love
Tracey
xxx

Hi Tracey

so glad that all went well with the midwife. It's great hearing that heart beat thudding away isn't it.

A friend of mine is convinced she's having a boy as they say that the heartbeat is slower. I asked my midwife about it the other day but she just poo poo'd the idea and said that if it's slow, it could be a little girl who's asleep, and if it's fast it could be a boy who thinks he's playing football in there. So I'm still no nearer to establishing what I might be having.

Have you thought of any names yet....we're struggling a bit.

Take care,
Suzanne.x
Yey Tracey - must have been so lovely to hear your babys heartbeat, amazing what's going on in there :)

I haven't had any flutterings yet but felt a couple of pops - either it's bubs or wind - but i like to think it bubs. I'd heard the thing about slower heartbeats meaning a boy as well - DH doesn't want to know but i'm not sure. They won't tell us at our hospital anyway. Are you going to fing out what you're having?

Take care, Lizzy xxx

[Edited by Lizzy7 on 18-Aug-03 13:02]

Morning everyone

thanks for the replies. We haven't begun on names yet - will start after and will let you know thoughts - hopefully we will agree.
Michelle - not far apart are we. Do have a bump - spot on for my number of weeks apparently and it does show now - would like it to be bigger though as you know that phase when you could just look fat!!!!!
Helen - you must be massive!
Lizzy don't worry about bump size - you are doing just fine - have posted for you on your back from hols thread.
Take care all and catch you later.
Aileen - if you read this glad all is well
Love
Tracey
xxx

Hi Tracey

What you say there about having a bump but just feeling fat thats exactly what I said to Lee the other day. I can also feel my baby moving around and I am getting the flutters I don't get them all day but I do get them once or twice a day which is nice.

Sometimes when I lie in bed my belly feels like it is bubbling its nice but also weird at the same time.

Tracey I spoke to Aileen over the weekend, I said I was going to call her but never got round to it but Sunday I made an effort and gave her a call. She is doing well and I can't believe she is 30 weeks now she just doesn't have long to go.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Love
Shell.
17wks 6d pg
xx

Baby's heart beat at last!

Hi Tracey, Shell & Everyone. Was looking for your "heartbeat" posting Trace, and was so pleased to see that you've heard the little one at last!! Tried to reply yesterday (first day back from hols) but the bloomin computer wouldn't co-operate for some reason.

Bet it was lovely to hear it - can't wait. We have our 12 week scan, etc on 10th September and hopefully they may be able to let us know whether it's a he or a she - don't mind either way but will be really excited to know.

Told my husbands parents the news on the first night of our holiday and they were stunned (we've been married 11 years so I guess they may have thought we'd given up on the idea!) but absolutely thrilled. They understood our situation as it took them 7 years to conceive my husband. We're waiting til the 12-week scan is done b4 we break the news generally - I feel kind of nervous about telling everyone, as it this puts some kind of "jinx" on things - irrational I know.

My waist is disappearing fast - can't wait til it's obvious I'm pregnant rather than just looking a bit stodgy!! Always wanted to be be one of those pg women who remains slim everywhere apart from a neat bump!!

Glad you're OK - I know you've had a lot of worries with bleeding at various stages Shell and it must be lots of extra stress for you which you really could do without! Hope things stabilise again for you soon.

Lots of Love - Jo. XXXXX

Jo

great news - not far to go until 12 week but they can't tell the sex at that stage as the genitalia are not on view or developed enough - have to wait until the 18/20 week scan for that - sorry.
My 20 week scan is on monday - the 8th - will ask the sex! Baby badger is very active at the moment - doing baby acrobats - most weird
I know what you mean about jinxing - we or should I say I told a couple of people and the parents before the 12 week and then went mad telling all and sundry - would have been easier to get a skateboard and a megaphone!
Take care and glad you are back
love
Tracey
xxx
