20 week scan

Hey all, Had my scan today - lovely to see bubs again and everything seems to be fine. It was lying there with it's arms behind it's head and gave a big yawn - very chilled out. Hate calling bubs 'it' but couldn't see what it was and hospital won't tell us (and DH doesn't want to know). Saw GMTV yesterday and they had a couple on who had gone into labour and the hospital kept telling her not to come in yet - then it was too late and she had to have it at home. Then they named the hospital and it's OUR one!!!!! NOt filling me with confidence! Hope you are all ok, Mcuh love, Lizzy xxx

Hi Lizzy Fab news on the scan - sounds like you have a very cool baby!! Don't panic about the hospital, I doubt they'll do that again in a hurry!!!!!

Hi Lizzy I am glad everything went well with your scan its so excited, did they do all the abnormalities checks? I know your not much in front of me with your pregnancy, just a quick question. Do you feel the baby moving about every day? The reason I ask is because I don't always feel the baby move. I didn't feel it yesterday at all. I do sometimes get a grumbling in my tummy but is this just hunger pains lol. Hope to hear from you soon. Love Shell. 19wks 2d pg xx

Hi Shell, They did all the checks and everyhting looked normal which is a relief - I haven't felt any movements yet, maybe just a couple of 'pops' (which could have been wind!) lol I was starting to panic a bit as i hadn't felt anything - but it was moving aroung in there so i guess i'll feel it soon. I don't think you need to worry, Shell - i think sometimes they're a bit more active and sometimes they're not. Wish i could help more, Take care, Love, Lizzy xxxx 20 wks today - half way!!!!

Hi Lizzy it must be such a relief to get to the half way stage, I know when Thursday comes it will be great. They do say you getting popping feeling in your tummy, but like yourself I just say its lots of wind lol. Keep up the good work. Do you know what your having? cus they are able to tell the sex at the 20 week scan ain't they? Love Shell.xx

Lizzy I was just thinking of you - what wonderful news - how laid back - laying around - didn't have a pina colada in it's hand then? How was gastro man - been wondering about you. I have another 3 weeks of steroids but colitis cleared up - my 20 week is one week tomorrow. Hope all ok - I get popping some days and others baby badger is chilling and don't get a flaming thing! Had a boring day with a collegue the other day and baby decided he was "snoresville" too and went into a near coma I think!!! shell is you are reading this don;t worry - it's all normal - sometimes at this stage we will feel them and sometimes not - depends where they are and what they are doing I suppose and some get nothing until 22 weeks plus. Your scan soon just ahead of mine - are you asking the sex - we are. Our hospital will tell us I think - if we can;t see it then no worries not the end of the world just want to know all ok really! Lizzy - fab news and don't worry about the hospital - it can happen at any hospital and I am sure has done at all of them in their time. Just go in and stay put!!!! Hi Tracey I have my 20wks scan on Thursday and I can't wait. I will be able to chill out for the next two weeks because I have broke up from work. Going away on Saturday for a week to the Isle of Wight so that can't come quick enough either. Tracey I'm not going to ask what the sex of the baby is, neither Lee or I want to know. We want it to be a surprise. I have been buying things for the baby but just brought creams, delicate lemon, white, and delicate green. I am so excited. Thanks for the reassurance on the baby moving, I know somedays it moves more then others and I am sure to be feeling it soon. Hope everyone else is ok. Love to you all. Love Shell. 19wks 4d pg xx

Hello - hope you all had a lovely weekend

Shell have a lovely time on the IOW - have a really good rest. How exciting is it buying stuff!!!! We ordered a cot on Friday - our fisrt big thing and i bought a few more clothes, same as you - all neutral colours. Good luck for your scan on Thurs. Tracey - don't worry, if i think it's coming i'll go chain myself to the nearest midwife. That's funny about your boring collegue - i like thinking of them doing stuff inside you (bubs that is, not boring collegues!!!) Sometimes i dance around my darkroom waiting for prints and i like to think bubs is jiggling away too! Still haven't seen gastro man - trying to get an appt is impossible. Am going to mither my gp this afternoon, spent yesterday unable to stand up cos of pain in my side. Good luck for scan next week - can't wait to find out if it's a Ms or Mr baby badger, Have a lovely day, Lizzy xxx

Dear Lizzy, Great news - I've got my 20 week scan on Wednesday, so I'm looking forward to it. I think my baby must be quite active as I feel it quite a lot (well I think and I hope that that's what I'm feeling!!) - to me it feels like a muscle that's twitching inside my tummy. I don't feel it everyday, but it seems to be getting more frequent. I think like everything in pregnancy, everyone is different - some people don't seem to feel anything until quite late, so I wouldn't worry. Alison xx

Alison - snap think I have an active one - at least I hope that is what it is! sometimes it is very tickly and makes me feel like an alien is there. Hi Everyone On the countdown now waiting to go and have my scan 14:00 on Thursday can't come quick enough. I just hope and pray everything will be ok. I did feel my baby move in the night just a few times and nothing this morning so he/she must be asleep. Lizzy what sort of cot you having, I saw a lovely one in Toys r us it was brown and it was a mama's & Papa's one and I said to my Mom that I really liked it. I have also seen my buggy which I like which is in Mothercare, but my Mom & Dad have kindly offered to pay for the buggy. I know that if I have my buggy it can't come home with me. When I come back from hols I have to start the nursery, as anyone else started doing a nursery? Love Shell. 19wks 5d pg xx

Hi Shell, We haven't done anything yet or bought anything - I guess I want to wait until after the 20 week scan (tomorrow - ooohhh). I also work at home, so cann't start the nursery until I go on maternity leave. Talk about leaving it until the last minute! Good luck for Thursday, Alisonxx

Shell as you know I have been buying baby clothes and various bits and bobs like a steriliser for the microwave and breast pads - ooo er how exciting is my life. Big things we are waiting until after the 20 weeks scan on monday but should be going pram window shopping on saturday with dh. Then are taking a week off around october 13th to do the nursery - decorating and buying cots etc - might order/buy the cot before that though. Nice cots in babies r us - saw them yesterday when I bought a bag of stuff - couple of lemon blankets etc - has to be done - hope all ok with the scan on monday! Hi Everyone I can't believe we have our 20 weeks scan so close, I hope everything goes well with your scan tomorrow Alison, what time do you have to go? you will post on board and let us all know won't you? Well for my nursery I have seen the brown wooden cot I like which is Mama's N Papa's from Toys r Us quite surprised its only £199 which isn't bad. Then I am going to paint the walls cream and I have seen a border with beige and brown teddies and it as well so I will have that. They also do all the cot stuff to match, I am just going to have the sheets etc... I do like the look of the duvets but I worry anyway about something happening to the baby. They also do a mama's N Papa's mobile with the same teddies which are on the border. Lee & I are going to start the nursery when we come back from hols, so I would say it will be the end of September Lee will do all the painting I will just supervise ha ha lol only kidding. Hiya, How exciting doing nurseries!

I'm in a bit of a odd situation - we don't have a spare room for bubs. Dh's kids come over most weekends for 1 or 2 nights and they have their own room. This means the rest of the time it's empty and it would be perfect for a nursery. I don't want DH's kids to feel pushed out (although they'll be nearly 16 and 13 when bubs arrives) but bubs needs a room. i'm avoiding bringing it up with DH too much!! Besides that, buying stuff is really exciting. Shell - i got my cot from M&P's, it's a wooden one and it's a 'Helena' - it's v simple and a bit smaller than the others but lovely. Alison - you sound like you've got a live-wire there, hope your scan goes well tomorrow and bubs sits still long enough for you to have a look!! LEt us know how it goes and happy shopping for afterwards. Shell - good luck for Thurs and Tracey for monday - so lovely to be at this stage together. My boobs are nearly a D!!! Lizzy xxxx
