how soon do most people do a pregnancy test after ET?

Post by socal »

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, here in Los angeles. Sounds like everybody is trying hard! I did my ER on 8/26 and the ET on 8/31. 14 eggs, 10 embryo's and we did PGD and only one embryo passed so we only transferred one. How soon do most people go ahead and start doing at home pregnancy tests?

It depends on what they transferred - whether it was a day 3 embryo or day 5 blast - I had a test 7 days after the blast transfer and 9 days after the day 3. Hope that helps!

You can try now (basically 7 days after day 5 blast transfer). A false negative is possible. Or you can wait a few days for a more reliable result. Good luck.

My ET was on Aug 8, my blood test for HCG levels was on Aug 17 ...
10 days after transfer for me.
Try to resist the HPT...I didn't do one because I could not handle the news, either way!
GOOD LUCK

I took a home test 7 days after a 3 day transfer and it was positive. I have a perfect little boy from that positive. : )

Hi all,
I did a test today and I got a very faint positive line...well I hope it gets stronger as each day goes by. Thanks for all of your replies, and good luck to all,

I had my egg transfer on 9/4.. and can't decide if I should do a hpt. My sister in law went through IVF last winter and she said she took a test each night, 3 nights before her schedule blood work. She can't believe I can't decide on whether or not to take one. If I wait until I do the doctors test, I will find out the results when I am at work.. I just don't know how I will be able to handle it if it is bad news....

any advice?

I had a BFN back in March and I did hpt's for a few days before the blood test and yes seeing the negative is a very hard thing. I also started bleeding heavily so I pretty much knew it didn't work.
On the flip side I'm on the 2ww now, 4 days away from the blood test and have been getting bfp's, each one slightly stronger. It has made me really excited hopefully not prematurely so. I guess you just have to try and guage your emotions. A BFN is difficult either if you find out at home or through the doc. Best of luck to you.
