Hello Ladies.

I gave myself my Lupron shot this morning and when I pulled the needle out, there was a small pool of blood there. Is this ok? I assume so, but wanted to see if that's happened to anyone else. It's burning a little more than normal too. Also, when you do the subcutaneous injections, do you leave the needle in for 5 secs and then rub the area after you take the needle out. I can't remember if that just for the intramuscular injections. I haven't been doing that, so I hope it's just for the intramuscular injections.

I'm on day 8 of Lupron. I'm getting close to becoming a Stimming Sallie!

Thanks,
Christie

RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!!

Post by albany07 »

Christie - I am on day 6 of Lupron... I am right behind you...
OK. Funny thing... yesterday our lights went out, due to some high winds which are becoming quite customary in the metro Chicagoland area! I don't know what is going on! I lived here all my life and never experienced such a thing. DH and I are right in the heart of the city and 2 weeks ago, we got a mini tornado! I thought the wind gods were at it again last night! So, getting back to the story...
DH proceeded to give me my shot at 8pm (daily scheduled time) in the dark. I too had blood pooling and it stung like hell!!!! I can't even feel it usually. So, I am convinced it has 100% to do with technique.

I have not heard about the wait 5 seconds, so I assume it has to do with the intramuscular.

DH has been delivering the injection in my fatty thigh (fortunately, my belly is the only place which is not so fatty). He pinches the surrounding skin, throws the syringe in like a dart, releases the pinched skin, injects the lupron and removes the needle. I think he threw it in at an angle yesterday, he normally shoots it staight in.

Many of us will have ER and ET around the very same time, more so than I realized before! Very cool!

Donna - Yes! I new you needed some revived energy! Sounds like you made a good decision! See, I knew it - there is nothing wrong with being prepared with the baby essentials! I am NOT nuts! LOL!!! We do have names. DH and I are quite corny in love... we picked them before we were engaged! I have been sworn to secrecy on the first names but middle names are: Isabella, Mari (pronounced mawri), Charles, Conrad, Graham...

Donnell - I heard it has been pretty hot out your way!

Love - how is everything on your end?

Girls - I enjoy keeping track, not a problem! I am very excited for each and every one of us!

Archana - Thanks darling! Unfortunately, I chose Management in the Health Care industry. Funny you say that though - I have always dreamed of being a teacher! It's never too late! I love baby CD's! Have you seen the U2 baby CD???

I will check back later, to those who will not... Have a great weekend!

Hugs and Sticky Dust all over!

Hello Everyone, my name is Kelly,

I know if a little late in joining, today is my 8th day of stimulation and I went for scans and bw this morning and they just called saying my estrogen was at 407, I had 3 follicles greater than 10 on each side and some small ones. They’ve been keeping me at the same dose of meds the whole time. I go back Sunday for more bw and scan. Are there any questions I should be asking? I really am just starting to understand some of this as its my first time for IVF and probably last unless we are able to get some embryos frozen. They told me my ER will probably be on either Tuesday or Wed.

christie76 - I was told to leave the needle in for 5 seconds (and my instructional DVD from Dr.) told me that too for Lupron. I have had bleeding with lupron injection, but not like you described.

AntKiki,
Don't worry about the needles. The Lupron needles are really small. If giving yourself a shot hurts, you can put some ice on the area before you give yourself a shot. I even mastered giving myself the progrestone shots in my butt by myself when hubby was out of town for work.

What meds is everyone taking this cycle?

Hello girls,

Sorry, been missing for quite some time. Really busy with work....

Started injection yesterday!!! Am going for the long protocol which lasts for ~5 weeks. On buserelin and thereafter Gonal-F. Anyone out there going for the same protocol?? See that most of you are on the short protocol...

The injections are almost pain-free. Not as bad as I thought ;-) Just have to get use to getting up early at the same time, even on weekends! Well I'm sure it's worth of effort when we see BFP!!! My E2 and scan is on 9/28, quite a long way ahead.

How bad can the side effects be? The nurse warned me about bloated stomach, bad mood and gain in weight!! I heard that you may even looked as though you are few months pregnant.... I'm not telling anyone about this journey, so how do we hide the big belly??

It's Sunday and Monday blues will strike soon... Wishing everyone great weekend and great Monday tomorrow!

Good luck and BFPPPPPPP!!!!!

Crystal

Hi ladies ~ I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Archana ~ Sorry about your headaches and yucky symptoms. I feel you...today is day 3 of stims for me and I have had a terrible headache since the afternoon of day 1. Did you have retrieval today? I am praying for lots of embies for you. Update us when you can.

Ingrid ~ Yes, it has been hot here. It is always hot here. Last day of BCP was yesterday for you right? YEA ~ Another milestone completed. Thank you so much for keeping this thread updated. I appreciate you and all of the ladies more than you know.

Crystal ~ Welcome back. Congrats on starting injections. I'm on the short protocol. I don't know much about the long one. I hear ya sista on the Monday blues though.

Kim ~ Welcome...the ladies here are wonderful and have helped me keep my PMA (even when it's tough).

Donna ~ I can't believe you've given the progesterone shots to yourself. I have done stims before, but never progesterone and that is what I am dreading.

Love ~ Good luck tomorrow with your baseline U/S and E2. We'll be waiting to hear from you.

Kelly ~ Welcome and good luck. You are way ahead of most of us. You and Archana will just have to be our inspiration. Grow follies grow and then we will watch for the BFPs!

Christie ~ I've heard the same thing about keeping the needle in for 5 seconds. My follistim shot doesn't usually bleed, but the Menupur stings and bleeds everytime so far.

Lacy ~ How are you doing lady?

Well ladies....sorry if I missed some. I promise, I think of you all and I want us all to report our BFPs soon. I am on day 3 of stims - I go in Tuesday morning for my U/S and E2 and I will report as soon as I know something. Have a good rest of the weekend!

~Donnell

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm on day 11 of Lupron. My period is due tomorrow. I hope it comes on time this month. I had a little spotting yesterday, which I usually have, so that's a good sign. I can't wait to start the Gonal-F. I have a big, ugly bruise on my thigh where I bled the other day. Oh well. I'm sure I'll have plenty more of those :)

getting there

Post by keddie »

Donnell and all,

It is so nice to hear how everyone is doing. Thank you for keeping track of everyone so well!

I have to do two more days of stim drugs and tomorrow (tues) I go in (hopefully) for my last scan and bw and then they should tell me take the trigger drug.

I can't believe some of the symptoms you all are getting! I have been so lucky so far with only some bloating and a dull pain on both sides. You all are in my thoughts! I am wondering if it because I'm on such a low dose of meds....?

Like you Christie, I too have some ugly bruises on my thigh. Do any of you combine the two stimulating drugs so you don't have to get poked three times? My dh combines the gonal f and the menopur.

I am praying for all of you and thinking of you everyday. Everytime I get poked I think of you! haha, knowing you aren't the only one really helps!!

If anyone has tips on taking the progesterone shot I'm all ears, I should be starting that this week and I'm a bit afraid. That needle looks way scarier than the little 5/8 inch one!

PS, what does BCP stand for? I'm still catching on.. :?

bcp=birth control pills

I'm with you on the progesterone shots. Those needles are big. I'd love some tips too.
