Hi guys,
I'm on day 6 of my 2WW and I can't sleep at night. For the last 3-4 nights I've only slept maybe a few hours. I just wake up for no reason after a couple of hours in bed and then can't get back to sleep. I'm starting to feel really lousy & know this can't be good for me.
Is there anything that anyone knows of that would be safe to take to help sleep at this time? I've been trying to be super careful about not taking anything other than what the MD ordered. Has anyone else gone through this during the 2WW?
thanks,

Hi I feel your pain the 2ww is never ending, my re said its ok to take benadrill . I took it one night but it kinda gave me a flutter feel like my heart was racing. I know its hard to do but try to relax maybe take a hot shower before bed.
same thing happened to me during 2 weeks wait.....the nite i took my home preg test and it was faint positive...my sleep got back to normal,...so from what i understand its stress....

I had the same thing! I was up for HOURS, many days in a row! I was convinced it was the progesterone shots, because even positive home pregnancy tests did not allow me to sleep. However, I finally slept through the night last night after getting my official BFP. I am also sure it is stress. I think you can take tylenol pm as often as you need to.
I had the same thing happen! My nurse told me that estrogen is the great INSOMNIAC. I called my naturopathic doc and she said to take some rescue remedy(made by bach flower essences) and also some sepia pellets to help balance out the hormones. They worked like a charm and I've slept ever since. You can find both at a natural food store. Sepia is actually cuttlefish ink. Good luck to you, hope you get lots of zzz's.

Hi all,
Interesting to know that I'm not the only one with the insomnia problem during 2WW. I'm convinced it was either the PIO or the estrogen. I wasn't really that stressed out. What finally helped me was taking the tylenol pm for 2 nights in a row, using a lavender eye pillow & lavender lotion & wave sound machine, and switching bedrooms for a couple of nights. After that I think I got caught up enough on sleep and didn't have as much problems. I was too paranoid to take the tylenol pm after the 1st two nights.
Unfortunately I did get a BFN this time. I actually tested positive on a couple of HPT's, then the line got fainter, then the blood test results. That was a couple of weeks ago. I'm finally starting to feel a little like my old self again & am looking forward to the next cycle, hopefully to start in a couple of months.
Best of luck to everyone both with sleep & with BFP's all around!

I would not take melatonin. I researched that back when I was having the insomnia. Years ago I worked night shift & melatonin helped me sleep during the day. There's some info out there that says that melatonin is linked to infertility. I couldn't find anything on the web that looked reliable that said that melatonin was safe during pregnancy and some sites said it definitely was not safe. So.... I didn't take that.
As far as the gas ?, the progesterone causes that. It slows down the digestive track causing constipation & gas.
Hope you get a good night's sleep & a BFP!

I had forgotten about unisom!
The MD that I work with recommended unisom a couple of years ago when my sister was pregnant. She recommended it for morning sickness but also warned that it would make you very sleepy(duh -that's it main use). She said she used to routinely prescribe that for m/s. I really wish I had remembered that when I was going through the 2WW! I guess it was the lack of sleep hurt my memory.
Thanks,
