A thread all of my own eh...thanks Tracey.

I'm 32 weeks now, so not too long left to go (sure I'll start sh*ting myself very soon). I feel as though it's flown by so far, how about you? The heat's been killing me this last couple of weeks, but we're all in the same boat there aren't we. I never thought I'd wish for a crap summer, but I have this year. I'm having a nightmare with my feet and ankles too, they're constantly twice the size that they should be, and look a bit cartoonish! But other than that and the few scares(!) that we've had, it not been too bad, so really shouldn't complain.

We started to decorate the nursery last week (I'm using the term 'we' very loosely, cos I pretty much did bugger all). It's coming on really nicely. I'm not too keen on real kiddy rooms, so have gone for a relatively simple look but with a lovely deep border with old fashioned teddy bears on. Hopefully we'll get it finished this weekend, and I can get all the furniture back in.....and the cot!! Can't wait..

I haven't actually bought that much yet (felt really scared about buying for ages, thinking I'd jinx us). Have probably sorted the essentials though. We only had one scan at 14 weeks so don't know what we're having, so haven't been able to buy much in the way of clothes. Have bought a couple of outfits though, that I couldn't resist, but 2 friends at work are pregnant too, so chances are they'll be o.k for one of us!

Well about the which guide....magazine, what do you mean mazazine! Didn't I tell you that I was a sad anorak....I bought the book!
Ordered it from Amazon.co.uk, think it was £10, and worth every penny, as it's really been useful. The author is Sian Morrisey.
Don't know whether you're much of a reader, but another good one is 'The Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth' by Kaz Cooke. It's done in semi fictional diary form, and is really humourous. Think I ordered that at the same time.

Well thanks for asking how things are going (bet you regret asking for details now though chick....have probably sent you to sleep). Hope everything's well with you.

Take care,
Suzanne.x

Suzanne

oh my god - where did that time go - not long now really is it. Hadn't realised you just had the scan at 14 weeks - did you not have the anomoly scan at 20? - Clearly not as you said you didn't. Any thoughts on sex of baby. The nursery sounds fab - I know what you mean about OTT - I am thinking of yellow walls - not bright yellow - painted as we have an old house and then a border - quite like the M&P giraffe one but haven't really looked. Then some bright curtains and that will be it - can dress up and down accordingly I reckon. WE will start doing this after 20 week scan when we take a week of in september. Otherwise I am 16.2 and time in some ways flies and in others drags - keep wishing I was 10 weeks ahead - how daft. HAven't bought baby stuff as reckon a bit early but did give in to temptation and bought some baby socks - reckon that didn;t count really and could always be for a friend. I am a total book anorak too - have read "I am pregnant" mag this month (or quarter should I say) and it has some details in it re buggies etc but not enough so will get on to Amazon and buy the book - how sad are we. What are you going for in terms of seat etc? All such a minefield isn't it - as if pg brains don't have enough to cope with. Glad all well otherwise and keep us posted - when is EDD?
Can't believe it is so close - how excited am I
Have a fab weekend
Love
Tracey
xxx

Hi Tracey,

might have a look at the 'thats what they're for', because all I seem to think about lately is will I breast feed or wont I? I'm trying not to put any pressure on myself, will have a go but if it doesn't work out I will at least have tried. It's the sore/chapped nipples that I dread. A friend of mine managed for about 2 or 3 weeks I think, but she got thrush and said it felt like hundreds of needles were being pushed into her nipples....nice! On the other hand though I have a friend who has only just got her 2 year old off the breast, and I think she only did that because she has another on the way!

I settled on a Jane`(pronounced Hannay) Power Track travel system in the end, it was recommended in the which guide as having the 2nd safest car seat according to tests. Also it's the only car seat available which can lie completely flat in the car, for babys first few months. I had a look for it on the net and saw only good things written about it. Also luckily found a shop not too far away which stock them. It's a three wheeler and very plain, so suited hubby's requirements too. I need to start thinking about picking it up soon, I just left a deposit at the time. We bought it back in June as apparently there's an 8 week wait for them usually but luckily the shop we went to had bought in a special order of a limited edition version, so we didn't have to bother ordering one. If after you've done your homework, you like the sound of this one let me know and I'll give you details of the shop that we went to as it was considerably cheaper than any other supplier I found.

I think your pregnancy's flying too, because I remember you panicking about period type pains just before you tested.

Anyway take care and enjoy your weekend,

Suzanne.x

p.s our local hospitals have stopped the 20 week scan unfortunately, I did consider going private for one after the downs scare so that I could at least see that everything else was ok, but then thought what if it did show up a problem, I'd have been in an even worse state.
p.p.s my mom was talking to a pregnant woman the other day who was over here from Germany, she said that they are scanned every two weeks there.....unbelievable!

sorry for the war and peace again!
Suzanne

just got back from my parents in the derbyshire peaks - took Ian and the step-children too - my mum and dad had a whale of a time - we stayed this time - normally we leave in the day. I have overeaten so feel stuffed.
Waiting for my book - must say your jane sounds great! We thought about 3 wheeler travel system but need to be flexible. I have my company golf gti which I will hang on to but really don't want to go back but need the money....You know the thing!
17 weeks on wed - phew! Am seeing the midwife tomorrow as haven't even had the doppler and my colitis is still iffy so should be good - if all ok (fingers crossed) Stopped the 20 week - honestly this country - we have german friends and they told us about 2 week scanning - bit much even for me but surely there is middle ground. I think you absolutely made the right decision.
Can't wait to hear what you have - my money is on a girl!

Anyway take care and I will keep you posted.
Love
Tracey
xx

Hi Tracey,

I'm fine thanks. Had to go for a hospital appointment last week after having seen the midwife. Think she had a shock at the size of my feet and legs, also my blood pressure was higher than normal (only slightly though) and she found traces of protein in my water.
Fortunately by the time I went for the appt 1 week later, everything was back to normal. I asked why you get protein in your water and the doctor said that it's due to pregnant women having more bugs in our system than usual....don't know about you but I've never heard that before.

I hope you're keeping well, think it's really lovely that you think of everyone, and REMEMBER everyone's circumstances.....don't know how you do that!

Take care,
Suzanne.x
Suzanne

Glad you are ok - I have heard about the bugs bit - sometimes we have protein and they don't bother telling us unless it is continuous I think - glad all ok though.
Not long to go for you - are you excited. Me remember everyone - it's because I am so interested in it all - otherwise my brain goes at odd times like putting OJ on my weetabix the other morning - mmmm!
also manage to do it because go through phases of doing sod all at work! Must tell you Suzanne I have been most anal (you would be very proud!) re the books at research on buggies and every item of equipment I can think of - we are off to actually look at buggies this weekend - DH has not seen any yet but still might try and get the Jane - will let you know - we can me Jane twins.
Take special care and catch you soon
Love
Tracey
xxx

Hi Tracey,

we picked up our travel system last week, but despite me having been dying to play with it I was very good and took it round to my mums, it's daft isn't it how superstitious you feel?!

You saying that you poured oj onto your cereal.....I found myself in the toilets at work the other day with a knife! Good job there was no one else was in there, think they'd have sh*t themselves.....if they hadn't already just done so! It's great though to have an excuse for being a moron isn't it.

take care,
Suzanne.x
Suzanne

I know what you mean about superstition - we all do it in some way - I nearly crashed off the road the other day because I saw a single magpie and wanted to find another (despite saluting it or whatever you are supposed to do) I mean really - have my scan on monday for 20 weeks so thought I better cover all bases.
How exciting re the travel system - are you pleased? Mum just sent me the Jane brochure from her shop and they will do a deal on the carrera and car seat - I want the matrix - what do you have in terms of style of 3 wheeler?
I won't even ask about the knife - re-enacting psycho were you?
I think we are all going slowly round the bend.
Not long know matey - hope you are well and keep us all posted with your potty stories
Love
Tracey
xxx

Hi Tracey,

we've bought the Powertrack (not the the 360 though....mega expensive!) with the matrix car seat. To be honest the matrix seemed a bit pricey, but doesn't sound quite so bad when you're buying it as part of a travel system. We bought ours from a shop called Young Ones in Tamworth, I found their details on the net, and they were definitly offering the best deal (it's only about half an hour from where we live too). They were cheaper than any other site and also had a rain cover thrown in too....wow you might think, but they're about £50 so not to be sniffed at.

Steve wanted a three wheeler hence the powertrack.....you know what these blokes are like.

Well good luck on Monday, I'll be looking out for your post.

Have a great weekend,
Suzanne.x

Suzanne

thanks for that - found a shop in leiceister doing them so popped in - he has a great carrera in blue with the matrix seat and the cover etc all thrown in and is ringing me tomorrow or Tuesday after the pram retail fair yesterday to let me know what price he will do for me - I reckon we can pick up a deal on it - he is a fab Indian chap and really nice - will let you know -thanks for the web site - he sold us a great M&P Valerian cot we wanted - slight 2nd - ie it had a small mark somewhere underneath! for £100 less!!! Bargain.
Will post on my results tomorrow - hope all ok with mad baby inside and hope you are doing well - no more knifes I trust!
Love
Tracey
xxx
