First, I apologize in advance for the length of this post.
So sorry to hear your new, but don't give up (there is ALWAYS a way). I too must use donor eggs (my daughter died last year at only 13 1/2 weeks from a maternally inherited genetic disorder called Leigh's disease). We don't know where this mutation comes from in my family line (I am neg in my blood and urine, but some indication in hair DNA follicles). In any event, my Dr. told us that if we wanted to be certain the next baby would be OK, I couldn't use my own eggs -- DEVASTATING.
I am now on ROUND 3 of Egg donor. MY first donor backed out last minute (and the lovely agency decided to keep most of their fee even though they did nothing. Add to this the medical expenses incurred by me on the donor and you have a huge loss). SO, we tried again and found a great donor, but very expensive (3 time proven success). Well, somehow her eggs just weren't good quality and we implanted 4 embies with a BFN and only 4 bad frosties left. I thought this would be my last shot at kids as we couldn't afford the process (DONORS are expensive, come with agency and lawyer fees and it is all out of pocket because Ins. won't pay for donors). Well, we somehow managed with my Dr. discounting his services tremendously to do this again. I got 16 blasts of great quality (originally 26 eggs, 20 embies). So, I think it is going to work this time. Keeping fingers crossed.
SUGGESTIONS: I have heard that there are programs that will finance IVF at very little interest. Hav you looked into this option at all?
Incidentally, how many follicles did you have? I'm shocked your DR. would have proceeded with so few rather than suggest ED upfront.
PLEASE don't give up. We have been through a long road ourselves and I know how it feels to think "this is my last shot." But hopefully, our determination to rebuild our family will pay off this time and I hope the same for you as well.
