Very new to IVF

Post by Sharrington »

Hello ladies!

I was told 4 days ago that I will be starting IVF this cycle. It came as quite a shock as previously my consultant had suggested we'd try IUI first.

I'm 39 years old and he says he wants to get a cycle in before I am 40.

So in 11 days time I will be going for an injection and then waiting for my period... then I guess all the fun will begin.

I know nothing about what is going to happen. My planning meeting for IVF is the day before the first injection...

I've been eating really healthily for months anyway, but I am now making an extra effort. The only thing bothering me at the moment is whether its Ok to go and have some colour put on my hair?

Looking forward to getting to know some of you more.

Good luck to you!

During this whole crazy process just remember to keep your stress level down (or at least try to :) ) If you work try to cut down on your hours if you can. Have your husband to more for you at home, etc.

Some pointers I have learned from these IVF websites are....to drink lots of water and rest.

If you have any questions after your meeting you should post them. There are some very knowledgable people on this site. Also there are no stupid questions.

again Good luck

Thank you!

I've already started drinking extra water.

I'm sure I'll be back with many more questions in the weeks to come.

hi Sharrington, good luck on starting treatment. once you get started time really flies. On a fresh cycle you do visit the clinic quite a lot when you are stimming. so you may need to pull a few sickies depending on your work.
if you haveany questions please ask away.
again good luck
