Thanks you two!!

It all went well - in fact he / she is quite large for my dates (although they didn't adjust my EDD). Baby was asleep the whole way through, but since the ultrasonographer could not look at the spine properly she sent me out for a chocy bar, cold drink and a walk to wake them up. It seemed to do the trick!

It was wonderful to see him / her again. It's always amazing how much you can actually see isn't it? We didn't ask to know the sex - we're not really bothered what we get as long as they are healthy.

Shell - hope your scan goes well tomorrow - don't wory, you'll be fine (I wasn't really worried about this one at all - much less than the 12 week scan and nuchal fold test).
Tracey - hope your's goes okay as well.

It's all going to be over before we know it.

Alison xx

Alison

Fantastic news - hope I have a reason to have an extra choccie bar - mind you eat enough. Have the steroids made baby a bit bigger do you think - is that is on scans now? Details I want details!!!
Glad all ok and know what you mean about not as nervous as nuchal/12 week - I blew my blood pressure sky high. Are you getting all the flutterings?
Shell - good luck - have set you up your own thread. Got my bounty pack a while ago and have already scoffed the soup in it and drunk the elderflower cordial - yes I know I am a pig.
Take care and will keep you posted - you next Shell and me Monday.
Love
Tracey
xxx

Dear all,

Thanks for your kind words!!
Tracey - I'm not sure that the steroids make any difference - I heard that they couldn't cross the placenta (I don't fancy having a huge one as I'm only 5'2''!! - ouch). How are you getting on with your Crohn's? I've just done a clinical trial in Crohn's and it's not a very nice thing to have - especially when you're pregnant.
I can definitely feel it moving now - I'd describe it like a muscle twitch in my tummy. It seems to wake up when I'm on the train to London (which I have been to lots of times recently for work) - I thought that the movement would put them to sleep.

I collected my Bounty pack a few weeks ago (didn't get any soup though!!). I've got a drawer for all the free nappies, etc, but I've resisted buying anything yet. However, now we've had the 20 week scan I think we'll start looking round for stuff. I'm going to join the Tescos one soon - we'll soon be able to park in those mother and baby parking spaces - hooray!!

Alison xx

Alison

I have colitis - ulcerative - Lizzy has crohns - right bunch aren't we. steroids can cross the placenta - they often use them for pre-eclampsia and babies being born early to develop their lungs etc. The doses we have are quite small and in the long term MIGHT cause bigger babies so think we should be ok - I am 5.4 and a HALF!!!!
Soup - what did you get in your bounty pack then - I was somewhat disappointed. One free pampers and a baby wipe I think, some soup red pepper and tomato, some elderflower cordial, some avent cream and spray and shower gel in miniscule packets, some avent nipple pads - two I think and that's about it - ooh a videa by avent on breast feeding. What drawer for free nappies - where all these coming from. I joined pampers institute and huggies and heard sod all since - I would hurry up as not sure that it doesn;t take a while
Sorry to blither on - don't want to miss out on freebies do I!!
Love
Tracey
xxx

HI All

I parked in the parent and child space in Sainsburys yesterday - i mean, strictly speaking i am a parent and child and there was nowhere else to park. They should def have pg lady spaces :)

Is the Bounty pack the one you get from boots - i keep forgetting to go and get mine. I remember getting the same sort of thing when i was a bride to be - i got a bag full of snack pots!!!

Alison - i'm lucky that my crohns is not to bad and usually kept under control with drugs, it's just that some of the drugs bung me up a bit and being pg bungs you up so i can't really take my usual drugs. Does that make any sense!! What did you do on your trial?

Take care, Lizzy xxx

Hi all,

Sorry Tracey - I knew when I wrote it and sent the message that you had UC and not Crohn's. The study I worked on was a new drug for both UC and Crohn's so I do get the 2 muddled up. If I told you the drug I'd have to shoot you afterwards, so won't bother.

As for the Bounty packs and the other one - one I got from Boots (that's the one you can also get from Mothercare) and the other is from Superdrug (I think that's the Bounty one). I cann't remember what I got in each - free nappies, some Dove stuff, some Vit E cream for my bump, loads of washing powder and some Elderflower sparkling water. I also got some free washing powder (are they trying to tell us something??) with my 'carry case' after my 20 week scan.

Something very exciting happened last night - my hubby felt the baby kick!! He was so excited - he keeps pressing my bump in case it happens again! My baby seems to wake up after I've eaten - so maybe it is wind afterall.

Alison xx

Alison

how exciting for hubby to feel baby - they often stop don't they when someone is trying to feel them.
Sure it isn't wind - can't wait for mine to kick harder (how sad is that) so hubby can feel it - more like prods and tickly bits still.
Know what you mean about the washing powder - forgot about that - can't remember if its persil or fairy - I ask you - a small bottle of gin for after the birth would be more appropriate.
Perhaps along with our ideas for bra hanging baskets we could design better bounty packs - any ideas?
Love
Tracey
xxx
