low E2 levels; need success stories!

Post by alittlegrace »

Hello. I am new to IVF, and I thought i would post my Question on this board also, since you ladies have had success with IVF.
This is our first try at IVF; today is my 7th day on the stims, and my E2 is only 68. I have two folicles on my right ovary and one on my left that measure 12. My RE told me that if my body doesn't respond well to the stims by Sunday she is going to cancel my cycle, and start me on new Med's and a new treatment plan in November. This has me so discouraged. Have any of you had a slow start to treatment, and if so, did it turn around for the positive?

DH 35
one healthy son age 14
1 stillborn daughter
5 m/c
2 failed IUI's BFN

I had a VERY slow start to stimming....and thank goodness my clinic did not give up because now I have a beautiful 10 month old girl. After over 25 days  of stimming and having only 3 follicles I wanted to quit..but my clinic went through with the ER..I had only 2 eggs retrieved and only 1 fertilized...needless to say I was devastated and cried the entire weekend..even refusing a shopping spree from DH. On the 5th day I went in for transfer and the doc said 'this is a perfect, text book blastocyst'.....I seriously started to cry and after transfer the nurse said 'this is going to be one beautiful baby'....I still didn't have any hope and even shoveled snow that afternoon. I was in shock when I got my bloods back showing I was pregnant.

Talk to your clinic about possibly doing IUI instead - better then not doing anything...if you have the financial means - push the clinic to go through with ER..but talk to them about your E2 levels. If they really want to cancel the cycle make sure you understand what the changes will be for the next cycle (meds, timing ect...).

Hang in there..it is a rollercoaster and never give up.

Traci,
Thank you so much for sharing your story; I feel a lot better. I guess I am still in shock that with all these meds, my body still does not want to do what it is supposed to. I will talk with my RE on Sunday, but I am still praying for a miracle. Congrats on your little girl!
