Do you have Ovarian hyperstimulation after ER or ET

Post by Bean »

Hi Ladies, just have ER today they got 33 ,don't know how many would fertilized yet.
My RE said that he would transfer day 5 only 1 embrion.
we were thinking 2,he told us that if we really want to transfer we should do FET in couple months because he afraids of overstimulation after 5 days transfer.
do you have overstim.ovaries after egg retrival or et fresh cycle
thank you

You can have during stims, ER, or after ET. If you made 33 eggs then you're probably at higher risk. Believe me, you don't it if you can avoid it.

Hi Bean I also heard it can be at any time I got a mild case after ET, I thought that it was just swelling and discomfort from the ET but it seemed to be getting worse as time went by so I called the Dr. they told me to measure my waist and my waist grew 6in in a week so it was not normal or comfortable mine was getting worse because I was pregnant but it has subsided but they only got 9 eggs from me so like 2nd timer said I think you are already overstimmed 33 is a ton of eggs.
Me 31 DH 36
Male Factor (Vasectomy)
Reversal 06/06 unsuccessful
1st IVF/ICSI 08/07 BFP!!!!!

Hi, I am suffering with mild to moderate OHSS at the moment. On 14th Sept my ET resulted in 36 eggs of which 17 have fertilised and have been frozen. The clinic I am at (Bourn in Cambridge UK) were adamant that it was not worth the risk of having the transfer since I was already OHSS prior to the retrival. It really isn't worth the risk, if your health is compromised then it will hardly be a happy pregnancy.
Good luck.

Hey there, just feeling a little disappointed after ET was cancelled today due to OHSS. Doc said my ovaries were swollen and me being skinny, it's not worth the risk to transfer 2 grade I embryos (possibility of twins). I've got 13 retrieved but only 6 got fertilised. Suppose I knew I had OHSS after my ER, cos I was cramping tremendously and couldnt walk. Didnt get any better today. Anyway, i've gotta be patient now and wait till the next cycle. Just worried that the frozen embryos won't survive the thawing process :(

And thanks for the listening ear...

I'll keep thinking of you. It's so fraught with difficulties but we've got to look after ourselves however much we want the transfer. Mine are in a freezer somwhere, it's the oddest feeling, I was upset that I was the only one at the ER not coming back on the Monday for the transfer but I know, from the pain i've been in, that it's not worth the risk.

Thanks for the pat on the back Geordie chick. It was pretty hard at the clinic today cos DH is away on business and I was there alone. And seeing those couples coming out smiling and all, couldn't help but feel deflated. Called DH to tell him, he was disappointed alright, but sweet enough to tell me my health is more important than anything else. Suppose we should count ourselves lucky that we have 6 frozen embies so we still have a good chance. I am hoping we could do the FET by the next cycle, provided my ovaries heal fast enough. Geordie chick When is your FET scheduled?

Hi Ladiesit is sad that you couldn/t make ET.But the truth is-your health is more important.
I had OHSS and i've been at doc's office had some IV -dehydrating a lot.
On Sunday 16 when we went to talk with RE -to be or not to be ET.He said that I'm at risk my ovaries is still huge, fluid in my abdomen ,and he still encourage to do ET only 1 embrio 5 day blast.!!!He said that I would be at risk for several weeks .We did take that risk even thougth we were thinking to transfer 2 embies 5 day blasts may be after cycle rest.
I had 33 eggs retrieved 8 or 12 fertilized only 2 get to blast.
1 transfered 5 day, 1 embi frozen))hope it will work
Hope you will feel better and you would have successul results!wish you luck!

Have you all been able to go back to work, if so when? I had ER last Friday (34eggs) and went to work Monday, (big mistake) due to OHSS (didn't know then) I went in for tranfer on Wed. which was cancelled and I still don't feel better. I hoping to be better by Mon. these days I'm off now were suppose to be bedrest after ET, I can't get over the disappoinment that I'm just out sick, no babies. RE said I should wait for one whole cycle to pass before we try for FET. We'e been TTC for almost 5 years and each delay is heart-wrenching. I really thought this was it, finally.

Hey ksscott, I think many of us here are facing the same disappointment as you of not having the ET.

We've been TTC for close to 3 years now, only decided to go for IVF-ICSI this year. It was a 5-month-period leading up till ER, and then being told that ET would not be performed was, to say the least, unimaginable. But looking at my physical state now, I think it was the right decision as I wouldn't have been able to carry the pregnancy well anyway.

We just all have to be patient (easier said than done I know) and look on the bright side, we HAVE frozen embies that could be transferred, that's already half the battle won.

If there's any consolation, we are all on this same journey together. Keep the spirits up and look forward to the FET!

Big hug

BaoBao, thanks for your kind words. I'm actually feeling a little better today and that is helping with my mood. I hope you are feeling back to normal soon. Did your RE tell you yet how to procede from here? Mine says to wait for AF, then we will talk but the whole process will be 6-8 weeks.
