So just how far along are we.............?

Post by Kelley77 »

For those that got their BFP, how exactly do you figure the dates out?

For example, I know that since my Retrieval was on the Sept 7th, I am two weeks along, however I believe that you still add the 2 weeks before (LMP - Last Men Period). SO then am I 4 weeks, with 36 more weeks to go?

When would I be going into the 2nd trimester...

and typically when woman say that they lost their babies at let's say 2 weeks...do you think that they say 4 weeks from retrieval, or for example 4 weeks, like the pregnany calendars say I am? I guess I wonder, because while I realize you are NEVER out of the woods...heck, not even when you bring the stinker home...but is there a point when I can feel more 'relaxed'. With my last pregnancy (which was natural) I felt really good when I got into the 2nd trimester..... call me stupid, but I just can't figure it out!!!!

Hi Kelley,
First of all, congrats!!!!! I am just a week or so ahead of you! I had my egg retrieval on Aug. 29th, did a 5 day transfer on Sept. 3rd, and tested 10 days later on Sept. 13th. At that time I was told I was 4 weeks and 1 day. They went back 2 weeks from my retrieval date. I am now 5 weeks, 3 days. Trust me, I am counting them because I so want to make it to that 12 week mark when I can tell everyone & maybe relax a bit!

Here is a really handy website that I found one day. It shows that I am 4w 1d today, and you and I did the transfer at the same time...if I remember correctly...September 7.

Hi,
Congratulations to all of you on your BFP! Welcome to this side of the board. As far as calculating your due date: if you look to the left side of your screen on this site you will see a link called "Pregnancy Calculator" under the heading of Resources. I know...I didn't notice it right away either. When I plugged in my information it came within 2 days of what my OB calculated my due date to be, so I feel that it is pretty accurate.

Again, welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.

Congrats to all of you!

My RE told me to add two weeks from the retrieval date. So if you have your blood test 14 days from your retrieval and it's positive, you're actually 4 weeks along gestationally, and your due date would be 38 weeks from your retrieval date. The gestation age is really supposed to be from the first day of your last period but with IVF I guess they go by the egg retrieval date plus two weeks. All of my ultrasounds have measured quite closely with my due date so I'm thinking it's fairly accurate. My retrieval was actualy 13 days after my period so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it (some women might have their egg retrieval on day 9 or 10 after their last period so I'm not sure if that would change or not).

Good luck with all your pregnancies!
