Hey girls!

Wow such great news all around! Glad to hear from you Vicky, I wish you all the best on your cycle. Sassy, I am sooo glad to hear your cycle is awesome and your BIL is in the pokey. Angie is having a great time, and Amy won Bunco!! I never win Bunco, I am cursed I think. Fee great going on the readings. Next time could you read the crumbs can you tell me if my bunco curse be lifted soon? :D Meg I hope you are getting some sleep!

A little about me- yes the appt. with the specialist is today for my big ultrasound. I am nervous. I hope everything is ok. I haven't seen the little bean in 10 weeks. I wasn't going to find out the sex of the baby, but like my husband predicted-- I cracked last night. I think I will find out. It's just no fun picking out unisex EVERYTHING. I'm sick of green and yellow.

I'll try to write later. As usual Dh and I are headed out of town for a football game this weekend.
Jenn

Question...

Post by hopeful01 »

I just got back from the doctor. We are 6 weeks pregnant with twins. They both measure the same size, however only one has a fetal pole. The dr indicated that was not good news. We go back a week from today. If the fetal pole is not there next week it will mean one of the twins did not make it. Anyone know anything related to this? I would love some insight or to hear about a similar experience.

Thanks...

hi Jenn - that's funny about the green and yellow. As mentioned earlier I have been spending up big during my trip to the States. Mainly for me, me, me but I did have a thought that I could get some baby things for D's friends who will give birth soon. (in fact the friends who I guessed were preggers on of one my 2ww earlier in the year). :?

Anyway, I found myself in Baby Gap - we aussies go crazy for the Gap - don't have it down under - and I was thinking why can't D's friends havetold us what the sex was as they would get a better present if they had!

Nonethe less I found them a nice green stripey baby thingy (all in one) - very cute .

In washington tonight - don't like it much - I am staying close to Capitol Building but doesn't feel very safe - lots of men wondering around - I am staying put in my hotel.

Just me and the laptop - anyone recommend any good TV tonight? and what channel - I can't find anything! AMY - what night are the Conchords on ??

Angie, Four words for you "Dog the Bounty Hunter" DH and I fell in love with that show after we fled our murder room in Vegas and ended up in a small town in Utah. We stayed for a couple of days to catch up on some sleep and lo and behold there was a "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Marathon on TV. Loved it.

I know what you mean about being too scared to leave your hotel room. DH and I ended up in this well dodgy hotel in Florida. DH barricaded us into our room by stacking chairs against the door. We didn't even go out for dinner and instead ate all the little bags of peanuts that we had collected during our trip. Exciting stuff eh?

Hey Hopeful, congratulations on your pregnancy. Unfortunately I don't have any personal experience to share but, have read a number of similar stories on the boards from other ladies carrying twins. I guess all you can do is wait till next week and hope that twin number two catches up...I think it is not too uncommon for twins to have different rates of development. Good luck and keep us posted!

Jenn good luck with your ultrasound today, I'm sure everything will be fine but can relate to the nerves factor. I remember having a few tears when walking to my car after the 12 week ultrasound. I think the stress really got to me! I say go for it and find out the baby's sex. I love knowing that Noggin is a little boy and it really does help with buyig stuff for him (not that I've bought much).

This is what I have bought for Noggin so far

(i) One toy;
(ii) Two pairs of pants;
(iii) One jumper (or sweater for you ladies in the US).

No cot, no pram, no car seat, nothing....Our emergency fall back plan is that DH will do the shopping while i am in hospital...is this a good idea I wonder and do I trust DH???

Jenn, what is this Bunco that you speak of, I will need more information before I cast the crumbs....

Hello to all the other sisters, and Mego how's our little mate Lucy going?

Jenn: So..... what happened???? Did you find out the sex??? Do tell.

Fee: Bunco is a dice game played with lots of people at a time. It is MUCH fun! My parents played it with friends when I was little, and up until a few months ago, I played with a bunch of women my age. It was bunco of the full-contact type. Wild for sure, and tons of fun

Hopeful: congrats on your pregnancy! I am sorry to hear only one pole was visible so far. I have no experience to help you out here. Hoping next US brings good news.

Angie: Hoping you survived your night in DC. Yeah, some not so great areas around the capitol. I know I am late to the discussion, but I have to second Fee's vote for Dog. Occasionally has kept me somewhat entertained for hours on end.

As The ******* Runs: so we got a bit more info re: arrest of The *******. Namely, that he was ratted out by a friend so she could avoid going to jail. After the police released her, she called him and told him to take off, that the police were coming... but the narcotics squad got to his door while The ******* was on the phone with her. Complete with a circling helicopter and several police cars. Right on. SOOOO wish I was there to see it. Several times yesterday I looked him up through the jail's website. I loved seeing his name as being booked in. He won't get bail b/c of the parole vioation and the No-Bail Bench Warrant that has been out for his arrest for two months. So far they have also charged him with the Grand Theft Auto, Burglary with intent to commit fraud, and fraudulent use of another's ID. I was down at dh's office yesterday, only one block from the jail. I loved thinking of The ******* cramped in there with a bunch of other guys in a cell. No e.scalade, no drugs, no house, etc. We'll see if they add any other charges after they go through all the stuff they found at his house.

As an aside... for anyone who watched coverage of the OJ fiasco in Vegas... most of the camera crews were perched on the top of the parking garage of dh's office building. His window looks down onto the garage, and across the street to the entrace of the courthouse. He took some great pictures of rows of satellite trucks and reporters everywhere. What a circus!!!

Last but not least... my cycle. Repeat US showed I have some very ambitious follicles! I even gained a follicle or two in the last few days. They are growing like weeds. Repeat US/BW on Sunday. Expecting trigger that night for ER on Tuesday. We'll see. I have been having a lot of right upper quadrant abdominal pain for the last 24 hours. Owwww. The US tech was nice enough to take a peek at my gallbladder and it looked fine. So not sure what is going on, but at times, it is even worse than the discomfort from having 21-22 follicles sprouting in my pelvis. Looking forward to having ER over so I can try taking I.buprofen.... chances are that it is some bad muscle cramps or something. Whatever.

Hope you all are well...

HELLOOO Sassy - hey we are almost on the same time zone for once. Sounds like you are flying with those follies - well done - I'm predicting (even though this is Fee's right) a bumper crop.

Fee - thanks for the hotel story - I could certainly relate last night. Tonight I am in a universty town in Virginia - feels much more friendly although hotel is in the middle of nothing - opposite a big mall - usually this would be exciting but as I am completely shopped out, it has less appeal now.

I do have a boring w/e ahead of me though as my meetings are not til Monday. I am looking into some yoga classes and perhaps a little tourist trip somewhere.

So Jen - how did the scan go?

Any news from the other sistas?
Off to see if I can find Dog the Bounty Hunter on TV out of the millions of channels on offer - it's a bit difficult to work the telly. Sassy - love the OJ story - you are right in the thick of it in Vegas - can't believe how much coverage it got though.

Have a great w/e girls.

Hi guys. Wow, lots going on.

Sassy--I have got my fingers crossed for this cycle. I'm so happy that things are looking so good. Sucks about the pain, though. Have you noticed that nothing in life is ever easy? And it's just kick-ass that the BIL got busted. What a relief. Cool about OJ, too. What a moron.

Angie--Sorry about the boring weekend. Definitely have to watch Dog--he's the perfect example of crap American tv that once you start watching you just can't stop. Oh, and his wife has the biggest boobs you've ever seen. You can't stop staring at them, I swear. Safe travels!

Amy--Congrats on the Bunco victory. I never win at Bunco. Unless you count laughing, eating lots of good food and getting drunk as winning!

Oops, have to go. Dh just showed up with dinner. We're all doing good here. I'm sleep deprived, but in a good way! Lucy is gaining weight like crazy. Having a slight feeding issue--she only will eat from one side all of the sudden. It's driving me nuts! Oh well. Have a good Friday night.

Well done to you Meg - sounds like you have taken to motherhood like a duck to water - you sound very happy. :D

Help ! I am trying to find a yoga class but you need a car for everything here! I have just spent more money at the mall to cheer myself up. Justifying it coz summer stuff is all on sale and we are going into summer when I get back ...but DH is not going to be happy - also I'm not sure how much more room I have in the suitcase! ooopps!

when is Dog on and what channel please ladies?

The last few days slipped by me and so much to catch up on:

First and foremost Angie - I owe you an apology. I left a sister hanging in her time of television need. That is HORRIBLE. Flight of the Conchords is on HBO - the premium channels, although most hotels offer a few of the HBO channels. Look there. Secondly, Dog the Bounty Hunter is on A&E. America's Next Top Model started last week as well as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Survivor. All GREAT shows. Biggest Loser too. Fun to watch people lose weight and exercise while I eat. Be safe - and my tactic to surviving South Sacramento is to always smile and make eye contact. My theory being that they then know I have seen them and could identify them in a court of law. Welcome to the US.
ps... just got some cute stuff at the GAP last weekend in San Francisco and that is rare - they have been in a slump for a few years, but this year they did whip out some cuter stuff. You are so lucky to be hitting all the sales right in time for your summer! Anthropologie had a great sale too and there stuff is lots of fun.

Meg - Sounds like things are normal. Babies often prefer one to the other. Soon your boobs will be less lopsided as one won't produce as much as the other. I also always tried to start DS on the side he hated to release the pressure. Hope everything else is going well! Can't wait to see pictures of Lucy. I am sure she is beautiful. Thank you for the BUNCO props. It was the most exciting game of my life. Usually I am just there for food, but the dice were speaking to me that night and I walked away with Target gift cards - 2!!

Sass - The cycle sounds amazing. I can't wait to hear about your ER -are they thinking soon??
Was BIL in the same jail as OJ? When is his court date? How are MIL and FIL taking this? Is he still innocent to them??

Jenn - Are you footballing it this weekend?? Did you leave us hanging? We need to know the sex so we can plan your virtual baby shower.

Fee - First, CONGRATULATIONS on being called a nasty piece of work. You will definitely be my go to gal in times of need. I am proud to have you as the queen of the sisterhood. Second - please, for the love of Nogs, go and do some shopping. You can't possibly leave that all up to DH. Who knows what you will end up - nothing practical I am sure. Some things you can do without, but some diapers and wipes are a must. Plus some cozy sleepers. and a carseat. and a stroller. babies are small and can sleep almost anywhere, so that can wait, but the first items are essential. Don't make me come down there...

Hopeful - no help at all - not sure of poles aside from the ones girls dance on for money and firemen use. When is your next appointment? Did you check on the double trouble forum and ask them?? I am sure it is nothing to worry about as at this early all kinds of things can be just forming and need some time to catch up. Let us know what you find out.

As for me, I am exhausted. Up til midnight last night scrapbooking. Trying to get the pictures together from our last trip to Denmark since we decided to go again this June. Figure I should at least have the 2006 trip done. I am such a loser!

Amy- A scrapbooker? so jealous that you are able to do that. I started dd's when she was born, and have only completed 8 pages. I did 4, dh did 4. I am just not creative at all. Plus, I just don't have the time. I am almost to the point of taking all my pictures to someone and letting them do her book. I am only 2 1/2 years behind.

meg- I second amy's advice. DD loved just one side, so I would either start her on that side, or I would just feed her on the other and then pump. She eventually liked the "other" side better. They are so finicky.

Sassy- This cycle sounds amazing. How wonderful it is that you are responding soooo well. I have high hopes for you on this cycle. Just remember to stay positive.
I can't believe how close you were to OJ!!! I must say that I was on his side with the whole murdering of his wife...until recently that is. Of course I told dh that I think there should be a law about how people who murder people should be required to write it down somewhere so when they die we know if they killed so and so. Does that make any sense, or did I just babble away?
Man, now that BIL has been caught, who is going to provide us with "interesting" stories?

Jenn- Is your dh a football coach, or just enjoy watching football? My dh is a coach, so we are constantly going to football games. Unfortunately his team is not having a good season. I will say it is much harder to go to the games this year with a 2 year old. She is ultra independent, so tough to tell her she can't run up and down the concrete bleachers.
And the sex of the baby is? I am predicting it is a baby girl. Of course I could make a better prediction if I knew the hb of your little one.

Fee- I can't believe that you would leave all the shopping to dh. You are a very trusting woman. While my dh has really good taste, I wanted to be the one in charge of what our daughter got. My advice on the diapers and wipes....clean out your hospital room every day of all diapers and wipes. You know in the end you are paying for them anyhow. But yes, you can't do without those.

Hopeful- congratulations on the pregnancy. Please keep us posted on how you and your twins are doing.

Angie- I am so jealous of all your shopping. It is amazing how it works out that you can buy your new summer wardrobe for so cheap. yea!!! Sorry to hear that you didn't feel comfortable in DC. That is somewhere that I hope to visit someday.

Well, I hope all had a great weekend.

Hey girls-

Back in town. For 2 whole weeks I'll be here. I can hardly believe it. My butt hurts from all of the traveling. Now it has plenty of time to heal.

Robbo- No, Dh is not a coach although he would love to be! We just go to all of the LSU home games. We graduated from there. You predicted right. It's a Girl!!!!

We are so excited. I didn't believe the guy doing the scan and asked him 5 times to repeat and was he sure. I think he was insulted. I was convinced it was a boy, and told him as much. I stopped asking when he said " Why do you not believe me? I am the one with the hundred thousand dollar equipment". Touchy! Anyway everything looked great they found all of her organs and everything measured right on target. I went out and bought a couple of girly outfits to celebrate, then we hit the road out of town.

Meg- I'm so glad everything is going well. I am jealous that you get to drink at Bunco!! I play with girls who don't drink. Well, some of them do and some don't so nobody ever has it at their house. Bummer!

Sassy- good luck on your cycle. Sounds good so far, with all of those follicles I would imagine there would be some pain! Hope you get relief soon.

Angie- glad you are having a blast in the US! Keep shopping girl. If it doesn't fit in the suitcase, just go shopping again and pick out a new suitcase to put all of the new stuff in!

Fee- You need to get shopping! Buy some stuff for that baby! I agree with Amy- if you leave it up to Dh no telling what you will end up with! Letting Dh do the shopping is out of the question at our house. He has no clue what to get, and HATES shopping. He just runs in, grabs random stuff and high tails it outta there! It's not pretty!

Ok- tired and need to unpack my clothes and wash. I'll be back tomorrow.

Sleep well!
Jenn

Hey all...

Jenn: yippeee! A girl! Now you can do some great shopping. glad to hear you will be in town at least for a few weeks.. you sure have been running around a lot.

Amy: leave it to the AG to want all of the legal details  . Yes, bil is in the same jail OJ was in. He had a court date, and technically has one tomorrow, but he isn't actually being seen at either of them since he is technically being held on a No-Bail bench warrant. Over the next month or two both his parole violation and the new charges will be worked out. I totally wanted to show up and sit on the prosecutor's side during his hearing, so I was a bit disappointed when they canceled it. As for MIL/FIL... I think the lightbulb has finally gone on. At this point the seem to "get it". Now we'll see what happens when he starts calling for money from the jail...

Angie: where are you headed next???

Robbo: wouldn't that be great if somehow we were able to find out when people died whether or not they actually did the crimes. I would LOVE that! As for OJ, I totally think he did it.. now more so than ever.

Lopsided Mego: still feeding from one boob, or did Lucy catch on there are two?

As for the cycle... trigger shot will be in about an hour. Right on! ER early Tuesday am. Been busy until this afternoon, so I spent the last several hours just chilling... on the couch reading and watching the boob tube. My right upper quadrant abdominal pain has improved a bit today, not sure why. Still a problem, though, so I am hoping to see my regular doctor later in the week.

Ciao!

Sassy--Good luck with the trigger today. I'm excited that the retrieval is tomorrow--it seemed to me that this cycle has gone really quickly (of course, I'm not the one shooting up every day.) I've seemed to evened out a little, so not quite so lopsided. Nursing definitely is interesting...

Jenn---Congrats! Let me just say, girls' clothes are very fun. Lucy has had on a ton of outfits during her 10 days in this world. My Dh pretends to be disgusted, but I think he enjoys seeing her in them as well. Enjoy your time at home.

Fee--For God sakes, woman, go shopping. That's one of the truly fun things about being pregnant. Spending money on adorable things that will only be used for 2 months. Hmmm. Maybe I see why you haven't. You're getting so close. Any nerves yet?

Amy--I also admire your scrapbooking dedication. I just finished putting together our wedding album. We got married 5 years ago. Procrastination is not only my middle name, but also my first and last.

Well, my mom went home yesterday so last night was out first night with just me, DH and Lucy. I think I got 3 hours of sleep. She was really gassy and would not lay down so I held her all night. It's awesome but kind of nuts. She's actually in her bassinet right now---shocking! I'd best go eat something while I have the chance....Did I just use the expression "best go"? I'm losing it here.......

Meg- I'm with ya on the procrastination. I have been married 6 years and still have no wedding album. Just a book of proofs. It is sad really. It took me 3 years to get our honeymoon scrapbook done.

Sassy good luck!!! Hope ER is painless tomorrow!

Hi to everyone else. Happy Monday!

Helloo - best of luck Sassy - what's the plan after EC -are you doing a transfer or are you still on the mega cycle ?

Meg - love the thought of Lucy in all those outfits in her short time so far on the planet - she is a girl after my own heart - she can come shopping with me any time :D and is doing the sistahood proud!

Amy - thanks for the tv tips - I have a tv guide now so all set. Saw a bit of dog the bounty hunter but on so late I fell asleep - will try him again tomorrow - seems quite a character and meg - you are right - wifey really does have an enormous bosum. Sadly doesn't look like the conchords are on this week :( :(

Hi to the other sistas. For the benefit of my US sistas here is a list of all the things I love about the states:

1) shopping as already mentioned
2)the fact that you can by a huge variety of salad and cold yummy foods everywhere - even in the supermarkets - you never need to prepare a meal all summer - fantastic.
3)you can walk around all day in the sun and not get sunburnt - in Oz you have to slip slop slap (sun screen) or you burn in 10 mins
4) Dr D and his dark little room are along way away
5) The sistas are more or less on the same time zone as me (but not Fee - g'day mate!)

However my trip will soon be at an end - can't wait to get back to see DH (will be nearly 2.5 weeks since I saw him) - I fly back Thursday.

bye for now
