Can anyone give me a little hope??

Post by lovespugs »

Hi ladies,
I am new to this forum, and just looking for a little HOPE. I am currently in the 2WW of my second IVF cycle, and I am FREAKING out over here! My egg retrieval was good, and they got 21 eggs, 14 fert, and 3 made it to blasts. We transferred 2 of the best back in on Friday. Does anyone have words of encourgement for the second time around, or for a 5 day transfer? I had a 3 day the first time, and really wanted to make it to the 5 day, but of course, now I am obsessing like nobody's business! I knew you ladies would understand. HELP ME!!!
THank you to anyone that replies...oh, and should I be feeling anything yet? I did have some cramping on and off today, but who knows????

I had my first IVF last July. I had 19 eggs, 15 fertilized, and 2 made it to be a day 5 blast. I had a high FSH, my husband had slow swimmers, and my age was a factor (I'm 37). I swore I wasn't pregnant because I had no symptoms and I started to spot a few days before my beta. The day of my beta I was bleeding which I thought was my period. I received a BFP and now have 2 beautiful boys that are 7 months old. Think positive. I swear it worked for me!!

I just got my bfp second time around. I know that the waiting makes you crazy, just remember to think positive. I had accupuncture and the meditation tape for infertility really helped me alot. You can get it on a website called healthjourneys. As far as feeling anything I've been feeling a lot because I have OHSS but one marked thing is my sore boobs. (but that can also be from the progesterone)
In my failed cycle we had 5 day blasts and then this time we had 3 day embies that were hatched. I hope the best for you, stay positive and you will have good news soon.

hi michele

just to let you know we got our BFP second time round too. i decided not to give up caffeine, alcohol and did not do accupuncture this time (compared to my first cycle) and was convinced it had not worked this time round. the only symptom i had this time was sore boobs but did not take much notice of that as i was on the progesterone pessaries.

best of luck and keep us updated!!

Lovespugs,

Let me just tell you I know what your going thru! I just had my second icsi procedure and this time I was definitely sure it didn't work. My first ER they got 11 follies and only 3 fertilized. 2 were put back and a BFN! The second icsi cycle they supposedly were trying a more aggressive protocol to get more eggs. I had my last ultrasound and it should only 5 maturing eggs so I was bummed. They retrieved 8 which I knew some were not mature. 6 were actually mature and 5 fertilized! Wow more the second time with less eggs. My RE said that more is not always better. The egg trans. went smooth. But I had no symptoms!!! None!!!! Except a few shooting pains and one night it felt like my AF was coming. But I also got the same symptoms the first time around. After reading the threads I was hoping for even a little break through bleeding- but none. I felt nothing. So when the nurse called she even sounded like she had bad news, but this time I was convinced it was neg. so I didn't get my hopes up and also prepared my DH and Mom. To my suprise my beta was 195, I was so shocked I questioned her. Right Blood sample? Right telephone number? Right lab paper in her hand? Now I am 5 weeks and have few symptoms like weight gain, peeing alot, some pulling sensations in ovary, and occasional cramping. My second beta 682! My ultrasound is 9/9. So belive me, everyone is different. Some get symptoms and some do not. The first time I read this forum religiously to compare my symptoms. That was because I was desperately searching for a comparison of symptoms my first cycle and when I did get my BFN I was devistated. For me I was trying to compare myself with other women to reassure myself it was going to work. In the end instead of providing me support like it should, it gave me false hope. Don't get me wrong, this group is very supportive and its helpful to know that there are thousands of women going through this stressful process. But for me I was getting too obsessed. This time my DH asked me to stop reading and get my mind off of it- Like thats going to happen! But I was convinced that it didn't work and I was prepared. I was floored when I heard congrats! So please don't read into the symptoms too much. You can be pregnant and have none!! I hope your 2ww is not too painful and I'm sending you lots and lots of sticky baby dust your way.

I had much more success with blasts. I use donor eggs because I carry a bad gene

We used ED last time, transfering 4 on day 3 (none were of great quality). Don't know why the embryos weren't great -- we used a 3 times proven 26 year old girl.

This time, we used another donor. Got 26 eggs, 20 fertilized and 16 made it to blast stage! 8 of the blasts were expanded and I think most great quality. The rest looked good as well. We transferred 3 (very aggressive, I know).

My beta at 9dp5dt (technically the first beta even though I tested earlier than this) was a whopping 745!!!! RE says definitely twins, very possibly triplets. OMG!!!!

RE has switched his protocol lately doing mostly blasts. He is having tremendous success (before me, 11 of 13 blasts were BFPs). He is thinking about changing his protocol because of how much success he is having.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU. THESE BLASTS SEEM TO HANG IN THERE!
Me: 40; DH: 30 (Demi/Ashton!)
9/14/07: 3 perfect blasts xferred
9/23/07: BFP with 745.6 Beta!!! Twins

Hi Michelle, I am going through pretty much the same thing as you. I am not in the 2ww yet, but I just had the egg retrieval on 9/24 and was told today that of the 5 eggs, 4 fertilized. I am having my transfer on 9/27. I wish you the best of luck and if you need to talk, just look for me. :P
