Hi AGallagher
Congratulations! Thats is just so fantastic, I told you I had a good vibe. Yippeee, we will have due dates only a week apart! It sounds silly as we were having IVF, but it is still a shock, I think we kind of protect ourselves with keeping level headed about the result, I am just so pleased for you. Now keep taking it easy.

Hi VickyP hope you had a lovely holiday, thanks for your kind words, hasnt it all been an amazing week?!!

Thank you Bernie and Vicky for your kind words. I don't think the news has completely sunk in yet. Have all sorts of moods, emotions and side effects at the current time but I am assured that this is all normal. It feels like the first scan can't come quick enough as I just need the reassurance that everything is ok.

Hello All!

Hey Bernie and A Gallagher - fantasic news! Congratulations to you both - great to have some good news on the thread. How goes things - how are you both feeling?

I've had my follow-up appt. with Lavery. We're going for another cycle starting end December with transfer in January - going to try Antagonist Protocol - which really sounds like the best option for me being as I'm 38, seem to have a reduced ovarian reserve and have one ovary. We discussed how my one ovary might be being too suppressed by the buserilin conventional protocol. If it goes better for us this time then great - even if not pregnant we might try another - but if there's not much improvement we're now seriously considering egg donation in Madrid.

Lav's explained that success rates are 50% for donation - and it seems like it might be the way forward for us if the next go fails.

Poochie/Vicki - how are you getting on? Fascinated to hear how it went for you.

Best,

Hi ladies

Good to have you back on the thread Mags, and really pleased you are getting sorted for a December cycle.

We had our 6 week scan today - 2 little heartbeats!! We are so pleased, shocked, but pleased. I am going back next week for a final scan at the Hammers before they discharge me to the care of my GP and my local hospital (Kingston). Fingers crossed everything stays ok.

AGallagher when's your scan? Please let me know how you get on.

Take care

Bernie

Hi all

Mags - really good to hear from you - Sounds like you are really organised - especially considering egg donation already (I mean before your next go) - good for you but hopefully you won't need to. What a bummer about the timing though eh?! No Christmas bevvies for you then!

Bernie - WOW - it just gets better & better - you must be SO excited - what's your due date?

I have some news - I really couldn't decide whether to mention it as I am really superstitious and really didn't want to tempt fate but anyway...... I am also pregnant at the moment - got a positive HPT last Friday! (Naturally again)
I'm really worried that it'll end up being ectopic (due to previous tubal problems) or that I'll have another miscarriage which is why I've been keeping quiet. Was going to wait till scan but really - I'm sure my telling you is not going to make a difference to the results! No one else knows of course - stupidly last time we told loads of people straight away and then a week later had to tell everyone we had had a miscarriage. So far I have had a very small amount of light brown spotting - but very little (I have of course read brown spotting is a sign of ectopic). Anyway I will just have to wait and see. I am waiting for a scan date from my local hospital (Bath) and until then (if I get that far) I won't believe it and won't be excited!

Right - I hope you're all okay - talk to you soon. Love Vicky

Hello Bernie, Vicky and Mags

Bernie, I am well please to hear your news. A great surprise to find you have two heartbeats. Double the surprise!

Vicky I really feel for you. It is great that you have a positive result naturally and I pray that this time it goes well.

Mags, I am keeping everything crossed for your next treatment.

I had my 6 week scan today and was 99.9% certain that everything ok. Have been having all sorts of side effects with the progesterone which I will have to take up till 3 months. They found one little heartbeat and have discharged me to the GP's care. I am really relieved that everything is ok. My partner is being very cautious and wants to hold off telling too many people. I would like family members who are close to us to know and try to leave it at that but the other part of me just wants to let everybody know.

Hi A Gallagher

Good news about your scan - glad it went well - it is Hell not telling anyone isn't it. In the end I told my Mum (then she told my Dad although I asked her not to tell anyone - being superstitious) but that was it till 12 wk scan. You have been signed off quickly - When I was pregnant with Ollie I had a 6, 8 & 10 week scan before being signed off so they must be happy that all is okay.

I am in turmoil - I have scan booked for Monday at 10.30am and have now convinced myself that it must be ectopic. My pregnancy symptoms seem to come and go. I know with Ollie I didn't have many - no nausea or anything. Now I just have tiredness on and off and frequent trips to the loo! I don't have symtoms of ectopic but have read that only 50% of ectopic pregnancies do. I have basicaly read far too much online about the whole thing - so am now not looking forward to Monday at all and am fully preparing to have to admitted immediately to have a tube removed or something - nothing like looking on the bright side!!

Anyway must go before I depress myself! Hope everyone else is doing okay. Love vIcky

Scan appointment

Post by AGallagher »

Hello Vicky

How did your scan go. I am sure you got some good news!

I have had to go to my GP since I was discharged from the hospital as I have been very unwell. I had had to incidences of spotting. The hospital were aware of one of them and told me not to worry as my scan was ok. On the weekend I began spotting and noticed some blood but it was not heavy. The GP tested me for an infection on Monday but said she could not find any blood and the test was clear. Today I have started spotting again today. The GP has been good and told me to go back if it does happen again for another scan. I am trying not to worry too much as I gather this does not always mean the worst. Sorry to drivel on.

I hope you had some good news yesterday.

Hi A Gallagher

Really sorry to hear your having a worrying time - just to add my thoughts..I had spotting for the whole of the 1st 12 weeks with Oliver - it was a total nightmare - thinking it was over all the time. Although it's impossible - I hope you are trying to keep as relaxed as possible. It's good to have a nice GP at times like this.

I had an okay but inconclusive scan - the lady said it was not ectopic - so that was a big relief and said she could see a sac, yolk and was 90% sure she could see a heartbeat - but I don't think she could see the foetal pole which I think she should have been able to. Anyway I have to go back next Friday now - the 12th for another one. She said 'you're not out of the woods yet' - so now relaxing for me at the moment.

Okay that's it for now. I really hope things calm down at your end. Vicky

Hello Vicky,

I am still hanging in there. I have really bad nausea this week and am going to see if I can book a days leave tomorrow to try and rest. The spotting stopped again last week but I did notice a small amount this week, but no red blood. It appears to stop and start. I have an appointment to see one of the Obs consultant next Tuesday at the hospital as I understand that my GP has written something in my referral about needing extra attention. I am epiletic and take medication for this so I suspect it is to do with this.

I am keeping everything crossed that your scan goes well tomorrow.

Hi A Gallagher

Glad it stopped last week. I had exactly the same - just small bits on and off till wk 12. Good that you have appt booked at least you can ask questions.

I'll be glad to get scan done tomorrow (thanks for remembering by the way) - feeling quite relaxed about it at the moment - I can't do anything about it either way so we'll just see what happens.

Hi there

A Gallagher sorry you have been having some spotting, try not to worry and just take things easy. As Vicky said, it can be nothing.

Vickyp I cant believe you are pregnant again, that is just great news! and naturally! unbelieveable. congratulations. How did the scan go on Friday?

I was admitted to hospital on Thursday with hyper stimulated overies. Loads of pain and not very nice, but its the 3rd time its happened so at least we now know what it is. It doesnt affect the twins in anyway, they are just fine, just very painful for me. I was discharged on Saturday eve (in time for the rugby, although I fell asleep and missed it all!) I now wait to see if it happens again, fingers crossed.

Take care of yourselves
