I really don't see this discussed on these boards much, but thought I would give my thoughts.
We went through our first cycle in May and did a Fresh 2ET. Well to our dispair, they did not take and we were very dissapointed. After speaking to the doctor he told us we had a really good chance on our next attempt because with all the meds my wife took for the extraction her endometrium (uterus lining) was probably overstimulated. He told us when we did our second transfer (we had 6 frozen) the 2 Frozen eggs would have a better chance to implant. Well in July we did another transfer and they both took. We are now 16.5 weeks with twins.
Our doc told us that they will always transfer a fresh egg, but many times it does not work due to the overstimulated endometrium. Our doc happens to be a pioneer in the IVF world doing his first transfer in the 70's on his wife.
I just wanted to give hope out there to 2nd and 3rd attempts....and make 1st time failed attemps feel better
Thanks for the info. I went through my first IVF this past summer. I ended up getting pregnant, but had an early miscarriage. The doctor is not changing my medications this cycle, but he is reducing my gonal-f, the stimulating drug. I wonder if my endometrium could have been overstimulated...I know that I had only three mature eggs but my estradiol was very high. I am patiently awaiting my AF so I can start out on BCP's for the second round. It's on it's way because I have the signs!
Thanks for sharing your information! It's good to hear the positives amid all the negatives!!!
