When did you give birth to your singleton?

Post by shantala »

Hi All

There has been talk before that maybe IVF babies come earlier than "normally conceived" babies. My nan (bless her) called from Germany the other day and said that they are discussing this topic over there, too.

I think it's quite interesting and for a bit of fun, I thought I would ask you, when you gave birth to your singleton? (I thought I better exclude multiples as they tend to come earlier anyway and therefore it would be difficult to compare).

Happy poll-ing!

I gave birth to my IVF/ICSI girl a month ago. My water broke at 36 weeks and I had her the next day. Totally unexpected. She was a good size, 6lbs 12 oz, but because of my group B strep and my spiked temp she went to the NICU. There we found out she had feeding problems, where she was incoordinated as far as sucking swallowing and breathing and was having cyanotic events. She also became prety jaundiced and had to have phototherapy. She came home after 8 days in the NICU on an apnea monitor. She is doing really well now and eating like a champ.

I plan on being prepared to have my baby at 36 weeks next pregnancy! I am stopping work at 34 weeks the next time!
