IVF Cycle buddy October?

Post by Deb28 »

After too many years TTC and 2 recent BFN IUI's at age 35 (DH 35) we are going for IVF. Starting birth control tonight with ER scheduled for Nov. 1. Looking for a cycle buddy to share.

What are some side effects of Lupron? Gon. injectables? I was fortunate to not be affected by Clomid and hoping for limited reaction to the injectables.

Best of luck to everyone.

Hi Deb,

I would love to be your cycle body but can only go part of the way. My doctor has decided to try a new approach (after 6 failed IVF cycles). We are going to do a cycle up until ER in October and then wait a few months for my body to expunge all the drugs, and then transfer into a natural cycle. So I certainly can go through this process - the ultrasounds/bw and ER - and then cheer you on the rest of the way.

I really haven't had much of a reaction to the drugs - although perhaps my DH would have a different view. I am more emotional but I am not sure whether that it the drugs or the process.

I too am 35! I am waiting for my next AF and then will start the stimulation then - probably the last week of September or first week of October. I may be slightly ahead of you if you are looking at a ER of Nov 1st.

Anyway, I feel like I am turning into an expert (something I wouldn't wish upon anyone) but each time is slightly different and I always have questions.

Looking forward to chatting along the way!

Hi Kelly,

It's great to hear from you; I am happy to have a cycle buddy, even if only part of the way. I am sorry to hear that you've gone through 6 cycles; I can imagine you need a bit of a break. The IUI's for me weren't too bad due to the limited reaction to the meds but I am brand new to IVF and it sounds like a lot to handle.

I have been reading a lot of information along the way and can really use the support and someone to share this experience. I will start Lupron on Oct. 1 and am glad to hear you didn't have a bad reaction to it. My DH will be the real gauge of whether the meds are getting to me. If you have any information on certain foods to help the process, I would love to hear about it.

I look forward to sharing...
Thanks,
Deb

hello,
I am going to start my 2nd IVF cycle. I started the BC pill today and they are looking at tentative ER for Oct 18 with ET on the 21st. I would love to be part of this process with you as it is very helpful to know others are going through the same thing. I am 34 and my DH is 37.

Hi Ladies,
I'm anticipating going through another fresh IVF cycle either in October or November, all depending on when AF shows. I'm hoping for sooner rather than later.
Just recently had a FET cycle with KellyM (Hi!) and it was great to have cycle buddies. I got a little addicted to this MB and now it's kind of frustrating because I don't currently have a cycle going on & nothing to talk about.
I'll stay posted. I'm hoping for BFP's all around. KellyM -I got my new plan for this next cycle -no lupron "kinder, gentler stim cycle" all embies go to blast stage before transfer. The theory is that the prev IVF's the lupron shut me down too much, then I over-responded & maybe it made my uterus irritable??? Anyway, whatever hopefully it works.

Deb28,
I forgot to add to the last post: I had lupron for the 1st 2 ivf cycles & had tons of hot flashes, achy joints, headaches -you name it. It basically through me into early menopause. That's why I won't be on it this time. I think most people have much, much milder versions of those symptoms & they only last for the 2 weeks you're on it. The stims I responded to very well. I had OHSS the first ivf which was painful but it passed. I don't remember much mood swings. I made lots of follicles which made my ovaries & belly swollen & painful, but basically tolerable. I had a lot more mood swings with the clomid. I remember throwing things at my husband one time because he made me really angry, I have no idea why. Poor guy.

Wow, so we'll be pretty close to going through the same stuff at the same time! You're right, it's very helpful to know that I'm not the only one!! All my friends/family whenever they want a baby...well 2 weeks later, they're pregnant! Guess I was the lucky one :? I start Lupron on Sunday, never had that before. All of this is mind boggling, but step by step I guess. How long have you been TTC?

Well it looks like there is going to be a gang of us going through in October!
2ndtimer, great that we might be on the same schedule again!!! I suppose if our FETs were at the same time then it makes sense. I am glad to hear that they have a new plan for you! I'll be cheering you on during the 2ww and hoping to celebrate your bfp this time around. Then I'll hopefully follow in December of January.
I've never been so excited to get AF!

Hi Ladies,

AF just arrived today so I am starting down the road with my next round of IVF. As I mentioned before I am only going as far as ER this time, and then have a wait a month or two to do the transfer - a new approach by my RE. So, we'll see how it goes!

But in the meantime, I'll make sure to keep you all updated on my follie count. I usually get around 10-12 so I am hoping that this time I can beat my highest number!!!

How is everyone else doing?

Hi ladies, hopefully you don't mind if I join in too. I am 27 and DH is 25. I've had one fresh cycle (BFN) and two frozen (one BFN and one BFP turned to chemical). I am now starting my second fresh cycle. I started bc pills two weeks ago. Will be on new meds this time but won't find out what until I see RE on Oct. 19. ER is set for Nov. 2. I was on Lupron and follistem the first time around and the only side effects I had were bad mood swings and gained a couple of pounds. Once I'm off the meds everything goes back to normal. So a little price to pay to try to be pregnant.

deb, I've read a lot on here and alot of girls say pineapple is a good thing to eat. not really sure why though.

Has anyone had accupuncture done? i've also read of some girls who do this and i wonder what affect it has? i know its something to do with needles but thats about all i know. :?

hopefully we'll all get BFP's around the same time!!! wouldn't that be awesome!!??

Hi ladies,
Can I hop on this coaster? I too am headed for my 2nd cycle this October. I am on bcp now and will find out Monday when stims will start. There is also another thread going on this board for October buddies so check it out. The more the better. Anyway, I have been doing acupuncture and TCM for 6 months so I will let you know how it was different from my last cycle. If anything else it is good for relaxation. :D

Hi IVF Friends!
I went in for my scan this morning (day 7 of my cycle). I am right on track - I usually end up with 4 or 5 follicles on my day 7 scan and then 10-12 on my day 11/12 scan. So, today I had 6 which were all about the same size. I am very excited! I just found out that I have a high FSH (for my age) so I am relieved to see that I am still producing eggs.
I go back on Saturday to see what the next count is.
At the beginning of this forum, I had written that I was only going as far as ER and then ET wouldn't be for a couple of months. Well that may change, If I end up with 10 or more eggs then we are going to do a double transfer this time around and if that doesn't work then we'll do the next transfer into a natural cycle. I am so excited that I may not have to wait until January for my ET. Let's just hope I end up with 10 eggs!!!
How is everyone else going?
It looks like my ER date is going to be sometime late next week - maybe Oct 11 or 12.
