really low beta number

Post by Candace »

hi everyone, I just heard from the dr that my 1st beta number is 5. My clinic is telling me 5 means 'low positive.' My test was done 11dp5dt. I need to go back on Monday for another test. Has anyone had any experience with a really low beta with positive results in the end? I hate all this waiting :)

Hi Candace,

I have read of many women who have had low betas and pregnancy progressed well.

I hope you are one of them.

Candace -
I pray that your low beta is indicative of a slow start out of the gates for you and that it increases quickly!! My 2nd IVF a few months ago, I had a beta of 6 and did not even realized that I was P, b/c my doc/nurse told me that I was not...until I returned for the next test and they saw how much the #s had grown. At this point, they informed me that I was P or had a chemical pregnancy. Regardless of the result, it is an awesome sign of progress in the sense that it shows that your body can get P and has made it all the way through the process. My doc shared with me that the lowest beta that she had seen become successful was originally 11, but you never know b/c other have been slow starters...I hope this is your situation. If not, it is terrific news of your bodies progress in the right direction! I am currently in my 2 ww period praying for a miracle! Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the positive thoughts! I am excited/anxious to go to the dr tomorrow. At least tomorrow I will know. The funny thing is I feel prego (although I have never been before). I am dizzy/nauseous, have food aversions, tired, etc. I have been spotting which makes me nervous. Maybe it is all in my head :)

eg, beta is the level of hCG (the pregnancy horomone) in your blood/urine. Let's us know when we are (or not) prego.
