2ndtimer--
Sorry to hear about all your troubles

It's soo frustrating.
I wanted to let you know that before I started any of the infertility treatments, I did go in for one of those saline things to see if my tubes were open or not. Found out that my left one was blocked. didn't do anything about it right away. Was told that it could have been caused by a number of different things like a previous infection, etc. but really couldn't tell me why it was blocked. Did 3 IUI's which didn't work (but if most of the mature eggs were on the left side, it wouldn't have worked anyway. Can't remember if I had more on the left or right at the time). Probably explained why I had such a hard time getting pregnant also.
Then we were told that I should do the lap. surgery. It was recommended that I do one IVF first to see if it worked and then if it didn't to have the surg. because I would have 5 more IVF cycles to try. Ended up only intially getting approved for 3 so we decided to do the lap. surgery first, since there were no guarantees I would get more than 3... It was done the day before Thanksgiving last year. They ended up telling me I had endometroisis (never had the symptoms of it) and they removed the tube. It was sore for a little while, but I just took it easy. I still have had 3 failed IVF, but I think my problem has to do w/ my ovarian reserve and the lack of response to the stims. They did want to switch one of the IVF to IUI, and I was a little concerned since I only had 3 mature eggs, but I think that one of them was on the left side, so it would have been a "wasted egg" since nothing could make its way up on the left side. But I still try IVF because it may still work.
It's hard NOT to do a HPT. However, when I've had E/T, I really try to refrain from doing it. I've been told and heard that they really can give you a false positive b/c of the hormones, I usually don't want to raise my hopes up if in the end it's a false positive... My issue is that I usually got AF about 2 or 3 days before the PT. Not spotting, but a full blown period, heavier than usual. So that was always my own natural pregnancy test.
I know that it's so hard to stay optomistic--it's like going to hell and back, but I will keep my fingers crossed that this next test shows that your tubes are open and that everything will be fine.
