Questions about FET

Post by Candace »

I am hopefully getting ahead of myself but was curious about the process for a FET. I am in the 2WW (test on 9/28). From my last ET, I have 6 blasts frozen. If I am not successful this cycle, what happens next?

There are two different processes for FETs. One is completely natural without meds, where they implant the frozen embryos when the timing is right. Then there is what I just did where basically it is just like a normal round, just skip the growing and harvesting of eggs portion. This included Lupron shots, estradiol pills, progesterone pills, and progesterone shots for me.

Hope this is not too confusing :o

brs888,
I have a question.. For the failed fresh IVF cycles, is the period longer than usual (e.g. 40-45 days instead of the usual 28 days)?
Me 37 & DH 37

Candace,
I hope that you don't have to worry about the FET and that you get your bfp! But for informational purposes I just did a FET and did a medicated cycle. I didn't even realize that there was a natural option. If I were to do it again I would do the natural cycle FET because then you don't have to worry about the interference of the drugs on your lining. Let your body dictate how things develop. Something to discuss with your RE. I am currently in the middle of another fresh cycle (my 6th) and have already discussed with my RE that if this doesn't work we are going to do a natural cycle FET.
Debbie405, the length of time to get your period is different for everyone. I typically get it before my pt - if I am bfn. Some women don't get it for a week or longer after they stop the meds. So, there is no straight answer, unfortunately.

Just to further back up what Kelly said...about how different the length of the cycle is for everyone, I usually don't get my AF until 5-7 days after I stop the progesterone (after hearing BFN)
