hi!
happy to hear that everything is so far, so good with you and your twins, Luanne. Looking forward to your updates...I know it is a very hypothetical question, and like looking for a needle in a haystack or the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow -- but, did you personally do anything differently this time around that you felt contributed to your BFP??

chriss - rent a few funny movies to pass the time and keep your mood up!

JenB & Kim - must be a great feeling to be getting ready for your upcoming October ETs. I'm excited for you as well!

And, I have some news - found out that if all goes according to the new plan (meaning that I pass my next set of bloodwork tests at the end of October), I'll be beginning a long protocol in November -- can anyone please explain to me what that is? -- I've only had the short protocol that started on the day AF arrived or thereabouts...this one starts on day 21 of my next cycle - so about a week before AF arrives in November...? I've asked my clinic for an explanation, but so far no word back today...so, thought I'd ask you extremely knowledgeable ladies here --
Just guessing, but it looks like the ER & ET would then happen just before the Christmas holidays? Would be the best gift to be able to tell DH that we are going to have a baby :D
Please hope for a mild winter before Christmas to make our driving to Austria a little bit easier!

Take care everyone! To Sonia & BigJ, enjoy your day off on Wednesday!

xx Amy

Hi Luanne,
I checked out mine and they do very well, but one of the ones I was referred to only had done 1 IVF procedure the year before....I found that some people were unaware that you could check. I live n Los Angeles so there are a lot to choose from in this area.
My clinic gives scans every week, but since my pregnancy is not showing enough changes, we are waiting 10 days until the next scan( next Monday, and then will assume it is not working out if there are no changes after this next scan. I will most likely try again.

Hi Ladies,

My oh my have things been busy ... and you all are very busy here too I see :D ...Sorry, but I don't always get a chance to pop in ... wish I could keep up more

Hi Amy,
Glad to hear you'll be starting your cycle before you know it ... sorry, can't help you with your question though ... ahhhhh, a Christmas baby ... a blessing indeed :D .... hoping for a mild winter for you both too

Hi LuAnne,
I chose The Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine (I'm in NJ) ... I actually chose them mainly because they were listed in my network for insurance (although IVF treatment is not covered, other treatment/procedures are) ... as it turns out I love my RE Image

HI jen babes,
Oiy, could they have waited any longer to tell you :? ... but, at least it's good news!!!! ...... Yay!!!! .... you are on your way ... oh, and if I could be so lucky to have to go bra shopping cause I'm bustin' out :D (lucky you) .... Have fun in Spain!!

Hi chriss,
Wow, 4 embies ...... way to go!!!!! .... maybe your hubby should say not to focus on the embies so much and then you might relax a bit  ... I know, easier said then done ... as of tomorrow (which will be a 6th day transfer) we'll be on 2WW together

Hi Amy,
Thanks for the well wishes Image

I finally know my results from the PGD test .... My RE called this evening and told me that 2 embies passed and that 1 is very, very strong .... although he said his lab person (forgot the name) said that they should both do well (I am thrilled!!!!) Image
I was worried that none might pass
Tomorrow is the transfer and since we had the PGD test, my RE will also tell us the gender tomorrow (when he called, he asked if I wanted to wait to tell me until tomorrow when my husband will be there too) .. oh, and from what I understand so far, this clinic will send me to the lab for BW on the 10th day following ET

I wish you all well

One day at a time :D

Sticky baby dust to all Image

JEN BABES
Thanks for the positive baby thoughts you sent my way. You must be getting really excited yourself as you have a pretty good idea of your own schedule now. By the way, the U/S I will have at 10wks will actually be my 4th. The 1st was (originally) scheduled for 9/20 but since I had spotting, it was changed to 9/15. Everything looked good on 9/15 & DH & I learned there were 2 beanies on board that day. Since I had more bleeding on the morning of 9/16, the OB did another U/S on 9/17. Things still looked good on 9/17 but he did a follow up U/S on 9/24.

LOVE
You're definitely in good hands with SIRM. They are among the very best. I'm glad to hear you are putting back two 6d Blasts. That sounds very promising. I also think it is awesome they tell you the gender. How cool is that?

AMY
I think one important difference this time was my endometrial lining. I took IM DelEstrogen shots & it made a tremendous difference in the thickness. In the past, I had always had just a "so-so" lining even when they added suppositories & patches to my protocol. I also seemed to have a better state of mind this time, at least during the 2ww. Of course, once I got a BFP, I have worried quite a bit about a number of things. I am glad to learn you have a good idea what your schedule will be. I hope you get the pleasant weather you desire for your travel. Thanks for your good wishes.

SOCAL

I have also discovered clinics that apparently do very few procedures. I chose a clinic that does a very high volume w/good results. You're right about having a lot of clinics to choose from in L.A., some of the best in the U.S. I suppose it has to do w/the L.A. economy. After all, a lot of people in Southern California can afford such services.

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THE SUPPORT! YOU LADIES ARE WONDERFUL!

Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has been asking after me since last week and for your well wishes. Sorry I haven’t posted earlier. After I got the confirmation from the clinic last Friday that my cycle had to be cancelled, I just wasn’t feeling up to much.

I still can’t get my head around why it happened because I never had problems with my lining before. I presume that it just developed wrong, maybe too fast, with the dosage of meds I was on. I really didn’t think I’d be faced with cancelled cycles again but I suppose new treatment cycles and new meds can bring new problems. So I’m back to square one and have to wait for my next cycle to start off again. If AF behaves and I pass the next round of tests etc. I could be ready for transfer around mid Dec. but I hardly dare think that far ahead just yet. Still feeling a bit deflated and sad but starting to look ahead again.

Chriss – interesting what you write about the curve in your uterus. My doc noticed a tight entrance to my uterus on the mock transfer and has noted it all down very carefully. I was a bit uneasy about it but like with you he told me it’s nothing to worry about.
Hope you are managing to relax a bit and take it easy whilst your embies are snuggling in. Concentrate on doing things that make you feel good (apart from the forbidden things of course  ) and think happy thoughts.

Love – test results sound great. All the best for your transfer tomorrow.

Jen – Thanks for thinking of me and for doing such a great job with all those updates. So relieved to hear that you’re finally taking a big step forward after such a long wait!! :D Any sign of AF yet?

Amy – hope you’ve been enjoying a wonderful sunny day off today. So good to hear the news about your schedule. Wishing lots of luck for all those upcoming tests and other hurdles to cross over the next few weeks and months. Funny, but your schedule sounds a bit like mine (except that I’m on DE treatment). After various tests I start on meds (Decapeptyl, in my case) on day 21 of my next cycle. It’s the down regulation stage to suppress the natural hormones and so have a better control over the treatment cycle. From day one of the following cycle I take meds to build up my lining (hope it works next time).
I will keep my fingers crossed that the snow holds back until the day you have your embies safe back home. After that you can get snowed in for Christmas… 8)

Love and hugs to everyone else. Thinking of you all and will try and call in again soon…

Kat – not heard for a while. Hope you are doing well.

Hi ladies - Just a quickie as I have my nephews over from NZ staying here with me. They are totally adorable (6 & 8 yr olds) but here's one to put you off parenting! Spent the day at A&E with the younger one chucking up everywhere and it was coming out the other end too! I thought I'd fulfill my Aunt duties just by acompanying my SIL by filling out the forms and doing the coffee runs, but no, the doc needed me in the exam room for "support"... I tell you, the joys of motherhood really became apparent when he explained we would have to give the little one an aenema (sorry, spelling!) and scoop a sample for testing! Lovely! My DH asked me if I still wanted a baby after 5 hours at the hospital...!
Ha ha! Actually, I was thinking more of recounting this litle episode at my nephews wedding or 21st! - That'll be payment enough!

Hope you are all doing well,
Andrea

Amy - Just saw your post on long protocols. I have had both short and long and have had varying degrees of 'success' from both. Under the long protocol, you will be given drugs around day 21 to over stimulate your pituitary gland so that it releases all of its FSH and Luteinising hormones (LH). As these hormone levels fall, your follicles will not receive enough hormones to continue their development. This 'suppression' of the reproductive system wipes the slate clean so to speak, so that it can begin to be manipulated at the begining of the next cycle. The suppression drugs can be either by injection or nasal spray (I had daily injections into the stomach - not nearly as bad as the intra muscular ones!)

I heard that this effectively puts you into a menopausal type state so ask your doc about the side effects. For me, it was mild (slight headaches etc) but still manageable and nothing much to worry about.

Hope this helps-Good luck!
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
Hey guys, what does ve stand for? I am baffled. I am on 2ww and don't feel anything. Found out today that the 3 extra embies did not make it past day 3 so none to freeze. Getting worried but trying to stay positive. UGH!
Love, how are you? Thinking about you.
Hope you are all well. Have a great night (or day-ha,ha) -chriss

Thanks Amy,
I'll keep thinking silver lining. Oh yeah, I didn't respond well to long protocol and did much better on the short one. I've heard that everyone responds differently. Do you have any dates yet for the tests @ end of October? It's already October! Time flies. Have a great day.
P.S. Hi everyone! Enjoy the day. -chriss
