So what's the story on ...Pineapple??

Post by FaithHopeLove »

So I heard that eating pineapple during the 2ww is good, it helps the embies stick better?? Not sure how true it is, so I was wondering if any of you had any input on that? If it is good, pineapple will become my best friend and I'll wipe the shelves clean at the supermarket..haha. :D
I have also heard that Pineapple is used to induce labor, which would of course be bad..so I'm a bit confused..

One more question about food...
which ones do you stay away from?? I've heard things from lunchmeats to mayonnaise are a no-no.
Any advice is appreciated!!!
Good luck to y'all!

Hi FaithHopeLove, (Love your name  )

I also read hear about pineapple ... My acupuncturist told me that it's because it contains "bromine" (sp?) which help the embie to stick ..... and let me just say that I've been eating "organic" pineapple for the past month .... ands it just so happens that I remember back in the day, when I was working at my sister's health food store that was on a dried pineapple kick ... I ate it all the time ... I also became preggers with my son at the time (I was also alot younger back then)

The main thing that I have changed in my diet since undergoing IVF is ...

* eating ORGANIC food ... whenever possible
* Turkey is also supposed to be very good for you while trying to conceive ... my IVF clinic recommended it ( the turkey contains "tryptophan" which is an essential amino acid,... I've been eating turkey 1 time each day since my ET
* I cut out caffeine as well as all carbonated drinks .... I drink room temp. water and warm herbal drinks
* I have not had any alcohol since beginning my IVF cycle
* I've been eating Salmon once a day ..... loaded with omega 3 and many other advantages (it was also mentioned this morning on several morning news programs the advantage of "cold water" fish and pregnant women)
* I also put away all my "scented aerosol deodorants" and bought a "all natural" unscented non aerosol deodorant
* put away my perfumes for now

My acupuncturists also recommended that I (she gave me a whole nutrition recommendation printout to follow) ....

*She emphasized the importance of me eating organic foods
*No processed , pre-packaged meats (lunch meat)
*add Wheatgerm to my diet
*Drink 1-2 times daily ...... 1 cup warm water with 1 tsp. Bragg's apple cider vinegar and 1 tsp. honey (I also use Royal Jelly(in honey) ... from the queen bee)
*Use flax seed oil daily
*Sauté' or steam all veggies (easier for digestion)
*Not raw, "cold foods" (watermelon, mango, pears, cucumbers lettuce, celery .... (typical salad fare)
*No ice in drinks. No ice cream (I now leave out my bottled water .. I drink it at room temp.)
*No white bread or pasta .... eat whole grain
*avoid sugar, sugar substitutes (I use organic honey instead)
*No salads
* eat alot of warm foods ... soups!!! ... root soups (carrots, onions, parsnips, etc.) are very good as well
*Stay away from added oil and fats

Lunch meats contains too much salt and other chemicals (preservatives) ... I try to stay away from them even when I'm not trying to get pregnant ... there is the "health food" kind of lunch meats that doesn't contain nitrates and might be a better choice if you prefer to eat lunch meat
mayonnaise

I wish you all the best

Hugs,
Love

Hi Love!
Thankyou so much for your reply! You have no idea how much I appreciate that! With all the other things revolving around IVF, you don't think much about your diet, so that was very helpful!
Thanks again, and good luck in 10 days!!!
I think I'll be going out to buy some pineapple soon!! :D

Hi ladies:

Fresh strawberries are very high in bromine as well. I also took L-arginine during my 2ww and already had been eating so much pineapple and strawberry (separately) that I had to laugh when I first read about eating pineapple to help improve implantation.

Love, your diet sounds great! Very close to the way I have been eating for the past 5 months. HOWEVER, with the morning sickness/nausea/cravings at this point I DO find myself eating turkey lunch meat 1 to 2 times a week and ice cream too as sometimes they are the only things I can stomach (if I don't crave it I won't eat because any other foods make me lose it).

I eat a lot of fresh papaya and mango - love the enzymes and I (excuse the TMI) am never constipated. Eating those fruits won't change any time soon though (can't really seem to stomach salads much right now. Its amazing what your body rejects when you're in this heightened state of M/S.

Hoping for BIG BFPs for all!!! A TOAST to good old fashioned M/S!!! :-)

Love,
