Hello! Ok this is very presumptious but ticket prices are going up everyday and DH is eager to book!

I'm currently in my 2ww, if all goes well (and I so pray it does) I could be nearly 12 weeks pregnant come Christmas time which is when we plan to fly to Sri-Lanka from London...anyone have any thoughts..

I do feel slightly worried but I keep reading it is ok to fly upto 32weeks...I would be grateful if anyone has any first hand experience.

i check this out with my doctor as i to wanted to fly at 12 weeks, and he said that it's ok as long as all is going well with the pregnancy ie no bleeding.

i did fly at 12 weeks and again at 18 weeks. we then went away on hols when i was 22 weeks, and needless to say everything is fine.

do what you feels is right, i looked into flying wuite a bit and there is nothing to say you should fly until the last couple of weeks of pregnancy and this is only because airline don't want you to go into labour at a few thounds feet!!!!

I'm pregnant with twins, and hopefully spending the month of November in Italy...
My doctor gave me the green light...no problems, he won't put me on any travel restrictions until weeks 28 - 30.

Unless you're having complications...you should be fine...plus, it's most likely one of your last Hurrah!

That said, I know nothing about Sri Lanka, the quality of the hospitals, etc...I was basically told that anything that can happen here, at my early stage of pregnancy, can happen elsewhere...and there's nothing a doctor can do...that, of course, is a diff. story later on in the pregnancy, when medication can stop early contractions, etc.

My doctor (who seems to be slightly overcautious) says that flying is not so much a problem as the effect of a climate change on the baby. We want to fly Germany to London for Xmas so that shouldn't be too bad in terms of a difference. My sister flew London to Turkey at 26 weeks (definitely a climate change!) and everything was fine.

Hi Jane...thanks for the information...and congrats on your natural BFP!

I spoke to my clinic and I was told there is no problem with flying..it's just that we are planning to perhaps go to srilanka for christmas, i would be just about 12 weeks, she advised me against it just because if something did go wrong-bleeding or worse case misscarry then would i want to be out there where perhaps I wouldn't beable to access the medical care I want...even if there is nothing they can do except support you...so if I'm lucky enough to have a BFP this weds then i'm not going, if we don't get the reult we're looking for....we're booking the first flight out...hopefully a win win situation! although I know which win i'm looking for....just counting down the days now!

Good luck and fingers crossed for your BFP
I would be very cautious about flying until week 13. From what I have read the flying during the first trimester isn't a huge problem but if you have horrible morning sickness there is no way that you would want to get on a plane - trust me I get nauseous just being in a car right now, not to mention the heightened sense of smell, wouldn't be good if you sat next to someone on the plane with a body odour problem
