I am a new user on this site but have read it for a long time, and I really appreciate everyone's advice on this whole process. I'll be starting my second cycle of IVF soon (stims begin 10/22). The first resulted in 12 eggs: 9 were mature, 6 fertilized via ICSI, and 5 embryos resulted. We implanted 2 8 cells, and I got a BFN (but I think I read every 2WW posting on this site!!). We have 3 frozen embies, but my RE recommended that we try another fresh round before using them.
I would love a cycle buddy for my second round. This time I am considering going the POAS route, as it was devastating to hear from a cold nurse on the phone that I wasn't pregnant. I haven't told many friends or family about doing IVF. I would really love to connect with someone who actually knows what this feels like. Please let me know if you are looking for a cycle buddy and are starting stims around October 22!
Thanks,
Grace

I also will be starting a new cycle. I should be starting injections sometime around Nov. second.
Unfortunatly, my last cycle was cancelled due to poor stimulation, it was converted to an IUI, and i found out today that it was BFN.
I have lot's of hope for the second time around. I have a consultation with RE on Wednesday to go over what she will change this time around.
looking forward to hearing about your progress, and hopefully, I will actually make it to retrieval this time.

Grace35-
Looks like we are pretty similar. I too am starting my 2nd IVF cycle. Stims set to start 10/20. Here is a little history about me:
1st IVF was 7/06, 13 eggs, 9 mature, 7 fertilized, transfer 3 embies-got a bfp but resulted in m/c at 6.5 wks. I have been diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. I also have endiometriosis, possible fibroids and had some polyps removed about a month ago. My dh and I have been ttc for almost 7 yrs, no natural pgs.
Sorry to overwhelm you with so much info, but that is me in a nut shell. I am also part of the "1st time ivf in October" thread but will be happy to be your buddy since are dates are so close. I know it can be hard whe no one around you can relate.
What protocal will you be on? I will be on the microdose lupron protocal with 450-follistim.
Me, 31, Dh, 30
ttc since 2001
1st Ivf 7/2006-m/c at 6.5 wks
2nd Ivf 10/2007-hoping for a miracle
Can I join in? My first cycle got cancelled cause I only produced three follicles, and only one was worth harvesting. (Bit like you, alittlegrace.) I was, as we all are, devastated. That was a down-reg cycle, now I'm going on a Clomid/FSH cycle with a boost in my FSH meds (Gonal F) to the highest possible dose.
So, just waiting for my AF now, to get this show back on the road. Of course, my partner and I did our best to spark that lone follicle into action, so theoritically I'm waiting to see if I'm pregnant, but my partner has spastic sperm (I really hope that didn't offend anyone) so it's unlikely, but possible, but I'm trying not to focus on it.
I'm looking forward to doing better this time too. Hoorah!

ICSI #1 Sept 07: Cancelled because I only made one mature follicle
ICSI #2: two eggs (ok, I'm a poor responder!), one fertislise and on board, beta 14/11
Botheration, You are right, we definitely have some things in common. Good Luck on your natural try, I hope it worked, so that you can be spared of all this craziness.
AF showed up for me today, so I am on my way. I am not sure what my new method will be until I consult with my RE tomorrow. I noticed you are also going with the icsi method, me too.
Alittlegrace, I am so sorry to hear about your BFN yesterday. And botheration, I hear you on the follicle. Mine were very slow growing on my first cycle, and the less than nice nurses definitely let me know that I was on the verge of cancellation. And we're not supposed to be stressed (!). Let's all hope for a good round this time!!
Wannabeamomma, we do sound very similar and thank you for sharing your history! Some more of mine: my DH and I have been ttc for about a year and a half (we've been married 2 years). He has a sperm morphology problem. I have high FSH, though sometimes it is normal. Our RE thought we were "borderline" for IVF, but he didn't have us try IUI because he thought it wouldn't work due to my DH's issue. So when our first round failed I was really devastated. I have no natural pgs either.
I will be on 450 Follistim and 150 Menopur. The menopur is new for me - I didn't use it on my first IVF. My RE seems to feel that it might help me produce more eggs.
I am so relieved to be on this site and not going it alone this time. Thank you all for responding!!

hi ladies! i would love to be included in your group! talking to people who know what you are going thru would be amazing! i have great family and friends but none of them can really understand what infertility feels like and the emotional rollercoaster we are all on. this is my first ivf cycle so i have the added stress of not knowing what to expect on top of the stress of whether it is going to work or not. our insurance does not cover 1 dime of infertility so the $15,000 for one cycle is enough of a hardship. i don't know if a second round will be an option anytime soon. i get a FET cycle for free but of course i will need to have enough eggs to freeze for that to be an option. i am trying my hardest to be optimistic but i also know the statistics.
grace35- thanks for starting this thread! i have been reading this forum for awhile and i tried to jump into one other thread awhile ago but it didn't work out like i had hoped. i am 5 days behind you since i will start my stims on 10/27. my DH has very poor morphology w/ only 2% normal so we will be using ICSI. so far i have been found to be normal.
alittlegrace- i saw that you have a 14 year old son. so do i! he was concieved naturally and was unplanned so we are not sure what happened to my dh since then. we have been ttc for 7-8 years for #2. i thank God everyday for my amazing son! he is my everything! i know how blessed i am to have been able to experience pregnancy and motherhood already. but i also know how fast the last 14 years flew by and i already cry thinking about him possibly leaving me in 4 years or so. i never thought i wouldn't be able to have more kids. i hope i am not upsetting anyone cz i know so many women are struggling w/ having their first bundle of joy. believe me when i say that my heart really goes out to them!
i really mean it when i say that i hope and pray BFP for everybody!!!

hi L- i am so excited that we are on the same schedule! yea! can i ask why your first try was cancelled? what is your background? in other words, do you have unexplained infertility? if you don't mind me asking?
the money is definitely a lot!! but i don't care how much it costs. i would give anything or give up anything to have another baby. unfortunately, my husband is fixated on the money and more worried about how much this is all going to cost. especially if it doesn't work. i've tried to make him understand that he is making the stress i am under worse when he talks about the money. men!?
i wish you sooooo much luck!!!

Hi, everyone! Hope I'm not too late to join in. I was supposed to start Lupron on October 2, but that was nixed when they found a huge cyst in my ovary during my baseline sonogram. I go back today for an update and to see about starting the Lupron. *fingers crossed*
Our history is that my DH had to have a MESA due to a vas deferens defect. So, IVF is our only option and we'll have to have the ICSI process, as well.
Hey! Our first attempt was cancelled due to a mass that was located on my uterus lining which I had surgery to have it removed.
Well I have been ttc since 2001, I have tubal problems, my tubes are acutally wrapped up around my ovaries. I had a lap done in 2004 and doctor unwrapped my tubes and I actually got pg naturally but lost the pregnancy. Doctor said tubes would wrap back again within 6 months and we didn't have any luck getting pg again so we resorted to IVF.
The money is crazy when it comes to IVF but like you, I don't care The way I look at it is that people spend more money on a car to buy and drive for 5 years or less and then they get rid of it, I could have a beautiful baby to love for the rest of my life!!!!!
I will be on Bravelle and Menopur what about you?
Good luck!

I just got back from my sonogram and I'm still a no-go. They said to give it another week- that the cyst is going down, but that it could be up to 2-3 more weeks. *sigh*
Jeez, $15,000? When you look at all the things governments spend money on, I think it's shocking that you have to pay so much for fertility treatment. We are largely covered by Medicare here in Australia, but I'm paying $3,000 (Australian - around $2,600 US) for a stim cycle and that's really financially difficult for us. (Particularly as I just got sacked from my part-time job for informing my boss that I MIGHT need a day off for an IVF-related procedure. But that's another story. I'll bore y'all with it later.) Anyway, I sympathise and am appalled. Do any of those presidential hopefuls have a better health care plan?
Alittlegrace - how did you got today?
lwalker25 - it's funny that you said you were excited about starting the injections. I must say, I really enjoyed injecting myself and snorting meds. After the years of failing to conceive each month, I suddenly felt like I was doing something productive and helpful and possibly pregnancy-inducing, and it was fun. Maybe if I don't have a baby I can become a junkie!
