Hi maineknitter
Congratulations on your first iui. The 2ww is the worst bit I think. Will you be having a blood test or doing hpt?
I'm expecting to have my 5th iui later this week. I'm on menopur and will prob have hcg trigger.
Feel free to pm me if you've any questions

abbreviations

Post by maineknitter »

Hello Su!! I'm out of the loop with the abbreviations! Any idea on where I can go to learn the lingo?

My husband and I have been ttc since March 03. After two years, he started with some sperm tests and eventually found out he had low motility. Then in Dec. 06, i had laporoscopic surgery for endometriosis. In spring 07, i tried clomid for four months. couldn't get my temps to look 'normal', so decided to try injectibles. that went well, except for a couple days of unexplainable anxiety. i had three good follicles.

yesterday had sharp cramps after i think i ovulated. i had this weird loose sensation, almost like my insides were deflated. lol  today they're more dull, but still sore to walk around too much.

i'm 32, and my husband is 34.

my doc told me to take hpt. i'm on vacation next week, so i'm gonna have to keep very busy!

good luck with your iui this week.

If you look on the general forum there's a thread at the top that gives some of the abbreviations. I'm still learning new ones myself and I've been on here for 3 months now.

I'm having iui with donor sperm as I'm single (gave up on finding Mr Right!). I never expected to have any problems and thought I'd just need unmedicated iui's. I never expected it to work first time of course but it's been harder than I expected. My cycles have always been irregular and it turns out I only ovulate some months and its affected hugely by stress so my first cycle was cancelled as I didn't ovulate. They then gave me 50mg Clomid which did nothing. I then had cycles with 100mg which were successful (as in I ovulated) but started to show some resistance to it so had to move on to injections last month. I'm having a totally different response to the same dose of menopur this time - was expecting to have had iui at the weekend but follies weren't ready. Got another scan tomorrow - Grow, follies, grow!

I remember have sharp ovulation pain the first time but haven't had it since. Some cramping after iui is normal too I'm told but haven't really suffered from that.

When are you planning to test? Just be aware that if you do it too early you may get a false -ve from the trigger shot still in your system. I usually try to hang on for the full 14 days but must admit last month I tested at 12dpiui.

Your right about keeping busy, its so difficut not to think about it all the time ruring 2ww (2 week wait). Good Luck

Hey! I had my iui on oct.. 5th so we should be testing around the same time. (hopefully we'll have close due dates  )
This is my 3rd. iui with clomid so if it doesnt work this time i think i will be on to injectables (doesnt sound like fun, but i guess we do what we have to!!)
How have you responded to injectables vs. clomid? did you have many follicles this time?
Good luck to you!!

Hi mkdig,
I didn't have a good response with clomid. I was also taking basal temps, and they were never much better than flatlined. I was not a fan of clomid. Made me urinate all night and I was very emotional. I like the injectibles much better. I felt fine almost the whole time, except for a couple days I had alot of unexplained anxiety (well, more than the normal, I guess..lol). The shots were very easy with follistim. They give you this 'pen' that you put a cartridge into and you 'dial-a-dose.' Didn't hurt at all.

Biggest pain for me is to drive to my doc for the sonograms every three days. It's 88 miles one way.

After ovulating though, i was pretty crampy. I'm on day three of my 2ww, and cramps are just about gone. But i'll take the cramps over the emotional rollercoaster any day!

We will be testing at about the same time! Will be nice to share support and understanding at that time!! All our friends and relatives have had their babies. I have one friend who is going through infertility, but they have decided not to try hormones, so I'm so thankful for this site.

Well I've just had my trigger shot and go in for iui 3pm tomorrow. Just got 1 follie now, all the others fizzled out. Would have liked more but, as they say, it only takes one. Hope its 5th time lucky! :D

i'm going to test on day 15 (monday the 22nd). My husband is away on a hunting trip that weekend, and i do not dare to test with him not there. If it's a BFN, I'll need the emotional support.

i also do not dare to test early as I'll be away at a girls weekend, and I'd hate to ruin it with a BFN (though I guess it would allow me to have those drinks with the girls!)

October Buddy

Post by stephjim »

Hi there!! i would love to be an October buddy. I am in the process of doing my 2nd iui. I go in for my ultrasound tomorrow and then hopefully Friday will have my insemination. I responded well to the Clomid last time, had 4 follicles. I hope for that many this time as well. We are doing this because my husband has low volume and high percentage of abnormal sperm. I wish you luck and am here if you need to talk.

Hi stephjim! Great! We've got quite a group now: kery, squezan, mkdig, and tinaO. i'm hoping the best and thinking of everyone!

I find it completely amazing that we're all across the world, do not even know each other, but can share and understand what we're all going through.

Hello! Ok, I feel much better knowing I am not the only one with these cramps. They suck!! I had my 2nd IUI 3 days ago and I have been having really bad cramps. I didn't have anything like this last time. I think it is because I had up to 5 mature follies that could have ovulated - yikes!!!!

MaineK - It sounds like you and I have had similar symptoms. I am also testing on the 22nd! I also took follistim and ovidrel. I go out walking almost every day a few miles at least and I was feeling lousy last night. I could barely make it which is scary because I just ran a marathon in June. Walking a few miles for me should be easy - but it wasn't! Ugghhh. I looked like an old lady walking/crawling around the neighborhood!

MkDig - how are you feeling? I guess you will probably test on the 19th? I keep hoping this next one will be positive for you!!! I finally got over the fact that my best friend got pregnant her first month of trying - I think I was just hormonal. I don't usually act like such a baby. :D

Su - Yeah for you!!! Maybe the one folly will indeed be all you need!!! At least you don't have to be running scared this month like me with 5 of them!!! My husband has a pretty high count and good mobility and I think they put like 7 million of them in, so it scares me to think what could happen! :?

Kery/Stephjim - it sounds like you will be joining us. Good luck with yours as well!!!
