Just had #1, already thinking about #2

Post by bonita23 »

I can't help but have it on my mind. DH and I will only ever concieve through IVF/ICSI, as he has CAVD, and there are no miracle natural conceptions in store for us. Before we knew our fate, we always agreed on 2 kids. No more. That's what we can handle, thats what we can afford. Even though I know I am truly blessed to have IVF/ICSI be successful for us, I really do not want my little girl to be an only child (I am, and I know what it is like). However, DH is firm on not haivng no more than 2, and if we do IVF/ICSI again, we run the risk of twins.

Given the quality of embryos, we have considered only doing a single transfer. I am scared of it not working. We probably have enough from issurance to do 1 and a half more cycles.

Anyone else have this dilemma, or have been successful with a one embryo transfer? (by the way, in our cycle we transferred 2 7 celled day 3 embryos resulting in our baby girl)

Hi Bonita
I can tell you that we were successful with just 1 embryo transfer with IVF. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage in 4th month but that had nothing to do with the fact that we had one transferred. We had some personal constraints so tried with only 3 eggs, one fertilized and had one transferred, which was a BFP! So it does work. Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.
