Hello

Can everyone tell me what they did after their first failed IUI? Did you continue on right away into the next month or take a break in between?

Hi Steph
I've gone straight onto the next one each time so far. I don't think I could stand the waiting inbetween if I didn't. I must admit it does get quite draining though and I did consider taking a break this time. I'm using donor sperm and had to buy a batch of 10 at the beginning but then had a few delays starting treatment so I've still got 6 left and only til december to use them so feel I need to keep going.
I've just started injections for cycle 5 today.
Try not to stress too much about your next move - hopefully you'll get a BFP and won't need to make that decision.

Sorry you got a bfn. I went right into the second iui the next month. (now on my way into the third!!) Believe it or not the first two weeks of the cycle will go by much more quickly than the 2ww! good luck this time. stay positive!!

I took a break as I wanted to give my body a rest from the drugs. It also helped me get over the disappointment and meant that I was more positive about the next one but everybody is different.
Take care,
Jane

I did two back to back then had to stop because I went away and I had to have some test done because they saw something at one of my ultrasounds. I ended up having surgery to remove polpys and the following month doing another iui and thankfully it worked! I had already decided I was going to move onto IVF if it didn't work ( i was positive it didn't,, boy was I SHOCKED!!) right away. Everyone handles things differently, it eased my pain when I went right back into it because it kept me soo busy.

Good Luck!!

After IUI activity

Post by stephjim »

Ok, here is a question for everyone. After your IUI, and this is especially for the ones that got a BFP. Did you go home and stay rested or continue as if it was a normal day. My doctor told me normal activity. Last month I stayed layed up all day and today I decided to do normal stuff. I went to the gym, but just sat and rode the bike for a little bit. Just casual riding. I was just curious what other people's rituals are.

That's a tough one. I've also been told to carry on as normal but no swimming that day (they said it shouldn't matter but just in case). A couple of times my iui's been in the morning then I've gone back to work after (I'm on my feet all day at work) but if I can I get an afternoon appointment then go home and put my feet up (like today)

I never know what to do during 2ww either. I want to go to the gym to keep busy but when I get there I wonder if I should be taking it easy.
I'd also love to hear from those who got BFP what they did.

Hi ladies
yea I guess it's a personal opinion but I just put my feet up for the first day and then back into it the next day. I was reading the do and don't thread and I was shocked at what some ladies did. Some of them put themselves on total bed rest for the 2ww!!!

Bedrest

Post by stephjim »

Ok, total bedrest is crazy. I would lose my job doing that. Well i did nothing strenuous, I just wanted to work out a bit. I have been stressing so much over the last year wanting to get pregnant that I decided to start stress eating and gained all my weight back that I had lost 2 years ago. So when I do have a bfp, I hope for a little bit of morning sickness to lose some weight. :)
