British donor Regulations

Due to the change in British law and the shortage of donor sperm I had to buy a batch of 10 at the start of treatment. They can only be stored for 1 year but I had some delays at the beginning and now am faced with 5 doses left and only until December to use them.
Has anyone else come up against this? Were you able to extend the time limit? I asked my embryologist today and he said he'd ask but he didn't seem very hopeful.
Hopefully I'll get a BFP this month and not have to worry but would like to know how many goes I've got left.

I wish i could offer advice but the regulations are so much different here. I just buy what i need at that time. I wonder why the year limit. do they feel it wont last longer than that if frozen? i hope this is your month and you dont have to worry about it!!
Actually come to think about it i asked about buying and storing samles at my clinic for future use (in case we get a bfp and think we may want another child in the future) and they didnt mention anything about a time limit on when it could be used.

Its so stupid 'cos if I get a BFP then I can store the rest for siblings - up to 10 years from donation. It's something to do with the donor not being allowed to create more than 10 families. It seems such a waste when there's a shortage anyway!
