I am so sorry!!! I thought this would surely be the BFP w/4 embies on board! I also thought your Beta was 10/14??? Hang in there & I just know it will happen for you. You are in my prayers.

YASMINA
It's good to hear from you. Sounds like you had a nice time in your travels. Too bad you & DH had miscommunication regarding Baby #2. As for Baby #1: You have an absolutely gorgeous daughter; Eloise is perfectly beautiful! Her smile must melt your heart.

JEN
I hope you get good news tomorrow & everything is a "go".

Thnaks LuAnne & Jen,
I am very depressed. Have a consult meeting with doctor on Monday. I'm feeling such a loss of hope. It's much worse than the first BFN. How will I know if I should keep trying? Jen, what can you tell me about DE? How do you even start? How did you know it was time to try that? How expensive is it? Where can you do it? Tell me everything. I'm sorry I don't have anything positive to say right now. I am being very selfish. I am feeling very lost. -chriss

I know you asked Jen about DE, not me, but I want to pipe in. I hope you don't mind. I thought long & hard about having at least 1 try w/my own eggs. (My Day 3 FSH was 9, which isn't too bad.) After much consideration and looking into DE programs in the U.S., I decided I wanted to go ahead w/DE to expedite the road to motherhood. My reasoning is I will be a mother whether I get pg w/my own eggs or DE, have a baby through surrogacy, or if I adopt. It would not matter how I came to be a mother. Of course, the biggest advantage to me w/the DE option over surrogacy or adoption is that I control the pregnancy. I can make certain the fetus(es) are well nourished, & not exposed to alcohol, smoke, etc. If the pregnancy experience is important to you, you will still experience that as well. Do you live in the U.S.? There are some wonderful DE programs in the U.S. Many of them allow you to see photographs of donors, at least during childhood. Complete medical histories & relevant background information is generally disclosed. Right now you just need time to heal & think things over, and talk w/DH. After you talk to the Dr. @ your post cycle consult, perhaps you will have a clearer picture of how to proceed. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best!

Hi LuAnne, I feel the same way that you do. Yes, I live in the U.S. My insurance covers IVF up to a certain amount, but not DE. What is the expense? How long does it take? Tell me more, because I am feeling very ready to start looking into the process. I know that I will know more after my visit on Monday. I want to be a mom so bad. I've been so sad. thanks.-chriss

Costs vary a lot depending on the clinic & program. Pricing is complex so be certain the clinic discloses ALL expenses you may incur. Clinics that use outside agencies rather than "in-house" donor programs will cost you WAY WAY more, so choose a clinic w/their own donors. Agencies often do not restrict where a donor lives, permitting her to obtain monitoring in her area (add'l cost to you). You would pay a higher fee to the donor, plus her travel expenses; airfare, hotel bill, meal per diem, etc. as well as "administrative costs" to the agency. Clinics w/in-house programs generally require donors live w/in a certain radius of the clinic, monitor frequently, & set the fee the donor receives. I have no coverage for any type of IVF, so I chose Shady Grove Fertility in D.C. They have a program w/a 100% refund plan if no live birth after 6 fresh cycles + FETs. Cost depends on whether you share the donor, & whether w/1 or 2 other couples. (We shared w/1 other couple.) I was willing to pay for success & undergo several attempts, if needed. I knew if I didn't get what I truly wanted (a baby), I'd get all my money back. They actually included 100% of all costs in the guarantee. The absolute only things not included were precycle testing (mostly covered by insurance), one required counseling session (also covered by insurance), local monitoring for me (they gave me a credit), & my meds (also covered by insurance). Some programs, like IntegraMed, have a partial guarantee. You get up to 3 fresh cycles + FETs. IntegraMed's fee is 100% refunded if no live birth, but you pay nonrefundable costs to the provider each cycle. It is a nationwide network w/providers in many major cities. Their program cost varies since providers have different rates. I found an unbelievable difference between the Indpls, IN provider (Midwest Fertility) & the L'ville, KY provider (Univ of L'ville). Finally, several clinics, including Sher Institute (throughout U.S.), Advanced Fertility in Chicago, & Pacific Fertility in San Francisco also have their own guarantee programs. I know it's still soon for you to make a decision, especially since you haven't had your post cycle consult yet, but I'm glad you feel you have other options available to you. Good Luck & let me know if I can help in any way.

Good Morning :D

Just wanted to pop in to say Hi to everyone.

And to wish Jen B all the luck, X-fingers.

Chriss my heart goes out to you. I am sadden to read your result.

LuAnne- thank you for your insight and wisdom on DE. I too live in the US and any information is welcome.

Yamina-Eloise is so beautiful, I hope you and DH can come to a joint understanding. Like you I was looking to start for #2 shortly after #1, well we first have to get to #1. Both DH and I grew up in relatively large families for today's standards. And I think its nice to have your best friend be a sibling.

Now for an quick update on my front. DH has sunken into a depression. This last session has really hit him hard. I feel so bad for him and I am having a hard time trying to consul him. I realize he is going through the grieving process. I am trying to guide him through it but it just breaks my heart :(

In addition, I'm back on my 'fertility' diet. Back on my DHEA, eating meals rich in fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts and whole grains. Trying to keep to a minimum any processed starchy foods. Back on the fatty yogurt as well. And I've returned to ACU tmts. They were so saddened when I explained what had happened, sadly I got all emotional then too. They encouraged us to ask for PGD next round and ask that they implant just XX positive, less likely to have genetic anomolies. I was quite confused by this. Our clinic does not take such requests as sex selection.

Anyways, in 3 weeks we should have the genetic results from this last pg and the data may allow us to focus on a more direct path given the various options available.

Wishing everyone all the best. Hugs to everyone.

Hello,

Chriss - I’m so sorry to read your sad news. Do take your time to grieve and think things through together with DH and stay open to options until you’ve seen your consultant. Glad LuAnne has been able to help you with some initial information. I know she has done a lot of research. Keep us posted. Much love and hugs xxx

Yasmina – I can relate to how you feel about trying for a sibling. Since I’ve wanted to have children I’ve always wanted two so the thought of probably having only one if I do get pregnant someday, has sometimes even brought a twinge of guilt. But in the meantime I’ve realised that giving a child siblings doesn’t always have to be the best decision for a child or its parents or be a guarantee for a happy family. Wishing you and DH all the best in the search for the right way ahead. In any case, you know you have every reason to be proud of Eloise- she’s a beautiful little girl.

Catharine – sorry to hear what you are going through after all you have suffered just recently. I do hope your test results shed some light on the problems soon. Good to see you are taking positive steps with acu and diet.

Jen – good luck for your scan tomorrow. You are progressing well and I have read lots of good reports about IM so keep up the PMA. Hugs xxx

I have an appointment with my Doc on Tuesday for a check up and am hoping to get something to regulate my cycle to put my mind at rest about AF being delayed. I’ll update the list later… off to a niece’s birthday party…

Hi to everyone else – hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend.

Love
Sonia xxx

I am sorry DH is so sad. I know you & he both have healing to do from all you have been through recently. I am glad you are taking such positive steps w/your diet, etc. & I hope you get some answers soon so you can decide on your next steps. Prayers for you and DH!

JEN & KIM
I am getting excited for you two. It is getting close now!

Good luck w/your Tues appt.

Hi LuAnne :D How are you feeling? ... how's the twin beanies :D :D doing?

Hi Jen, Sounds like you are progressing right on Q :D I wish you all the best ..... just try to relax for your ET (I know, easier said than done  ) ... how many are you going to transfer? Please keep us posted & Good luck :D .... (sorry I didn't update you sooner with my test date ... guess I've just been trying to just distract myself from thinking about "if yes if no")

Hi Catharine, Awwwww, I'm so sorry to hear about you hubby .... He probably doesn't know how to express his feelings (most guys don't) Sometimes we forget that this process is very trying for our hubbies as well  .... Glad to hear that your taking really good care of yourself :D ... I had the PGD test done and that was how my RE knew which 3 embies to eliminate out of the 5 that fertilized .... I wish you all the best :D

Hi Chriss, I am so very sorry to hear what you are going through .... Image will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers

Hi Yasmina, your little Eloise is so adorable :D .... the best to you both

Hi Sonia, Thanks for all the PMA :D
oh, and as far as AF, could it be that since you've been on all that med. that your body just needs to do some adjustments now to get back to what "it" knew and not what your RE (and the meds) made it do? .... wishing you all the best :D

I hope that I didn't leave anyone out ..... (this was as far back as I could read in the thread through the reply window) :?

Sorry I've been MIA for a few .... Just been keeping myself busy ..... lots of praying and also I've been watching the food network and then cooking a new meal that I saw for my family and then cooking my "special health diet" for myself .... Wednesday I began to feel some cramping, even though I have heard time and time again that they are a good sign I just can't help but get scared when I feel them .... so far so good  time really flew by with me making sure that I was taking really good care of myself (and my hubby helped out alot too  ) .... I think I gained 5 lbs. just making sure I got all the nutritious foods that I needed  ..... Tomorrow I go for BW at the lab and then I'm not exactly sure when my RE will let me know the results  .... then on Wednesday I go back for another BW

Wishing each and everyone of you all the best!!!!

Hugs, Image
