Baby Measuring Behind at 18 Weeks

Post by Shellbell »

Has anyone had a fetus that measured behind in growth??? I'm 18 weeks on Wednesday and the baby is measuring 1 & 1/2 weeks behind in size. Developmentally all body parts and organs look good, but it's just small for where it should be.

Any info/advice would be great!

Thanks - Michelle

shellbell,

speak to your midwife, i have always measure a week behind but my midwife keeps on telling me its nothing at all to worry about.

as long as the baby is developing right ie all major oragans and limbs are present then thats all that really matters, so the baby might be a little shorter than average!
thats all we do is worry about our little ones and as family members keep telling me the worry never stops!!!

good luck with your pregnancy

Thank you so much for that. Of course the Dr I was at went through everything from chromosonal abnormalities to stillbirth, so I was extremely upset by the time I left his office. I'll take your advice and just stop worrying!

Thanks - Michelle

For a long time my baby was a week ahead of himself mostly his head.

You want to monitor the trend of the baby's growth. If it's small but consistently growing along the same curve things are usually okay. If the baby was growing normally and then suddenly starts to get behind then there is usually a problem. Just relax, eat healthy, hydrate, and lay a lot on your left side and see how the next couple of ultrasounds go. Best wishes!
