Hope your postIVF consult today gives you and DH some insight and positive ideas for how to best proceed. Sounds like you've gotten sound advice from the DE ladies here, should that be your next step. Take the time you need to figure things out. Let your body flush out all that medication you've been on and enjoy some time off with DH...Wishing you all the best and lots of baby dust for your next cycle.

Sonix - like you, I'm also waiting for AF -- I still have another week to wait. On day 8, I go in for a Hygieneabstrich, (don't know what that is called in English!) then wait for the results and go from there...My first ultrasund would then be on day 21, then I'll be off and running, I mean, cycling I must admit, I'm getting excited!

Catharine - sorry to hear about depression setting in for DH. It is so hard to see the men we love feeling so sad. I do hope the next consult you both have will shed some light on what is going on and bring some closure to what you've recently experienced, which might allow you to eventually move on when the time is right for you both. Glad to hear you are taking positive steps for yourself with your diet and acu! good for you!

Hi ladies

Having a bit of 'Monday-itis' today so it really saddened me to hear about Chriss' news and Catharine too. I'm really sorry girls - sh*t happens and it doesn't get any easier -but we have to remain strong for each other, right?!
Catharine, when we went through our mc last year, it was a double whammy because of the time and struggle it had taken us to achieve that one pregnancy in the first place. It's so important to give yourselves time to grieve first before moving on. It sounds like you already are (Good girl!) But your DH is probably taking a bit longer for things to sink in. I know it's difficult to see your DH down, as most men are used to being the 'strong' one in these situations. But when you get through all this (and you will) you will both be a lot stronger for it.

JenB - (and fellow wine lover!) Good luck for the transfer!
Love - Still have my fingers crossed for you...
Yasmina - what a gorgeous little girl you have! I always wanted 2 children (can't really think of any rational reasons why) but maybe to me it was the ideal family (in an ideal world...). Well, as we all know, that bubble has well and truly burst! so now I'll just be happy if we can achieve one healthy happy darling like yours! Hope you and your DH can achieve a compromise.

As for me, my FSH test came back today and was on the high side (always has been a factor). I was sufficiently depressed over this at the weekend to consider egg donor options but as mentioned before, donors are extremely difficult to obtain legally here so my options will probably have to be abroad. On that note, LuAnne and JenB thanks for sharing all that timely info. Looks like if we decide to go down that route, we'll have to take out another mortgage...!

Anyway, Doc wants me to cycle next month regardless as we cannot afford to wait any longer. So Amy, Sonix, Belly4#2 - we may all be cycle buddies!

MY scan was good today lining has grown from 4.2 to 7.1mm and IM said i am ready to go....BUT we are still waiting on donor info ( i.e. info if she is ready to go to ET) and they will call me when this is the case...I am so excited it's like a 2ww x x Hope to hear from them soon then we can book flights hotel etc x x

Reading your sad news reminded me a while ago when I was still in the dark zone not knowing what to expect! As you asked, I guess the best answer to all your questions is to go with your instinct. I think there is no definite time line for anyone to start or stop trying for your own eggs. My eggs were 43 year old, but some of us here are only entering their 40, they have already decided to go with donor eggs route. Generally, if you have a low FSH, meaning your egg reserve is still good, your RE would suggest you at least try for few cycles with your own eggs. However, if you are a poor responder to any ivf drugs, your RE may suggest with donor eggs. Donor eggs give 50% success rate in majority of clinics. As you are covered by insurance with your own eggs, I would suggest to go for few more cycles with my own eggs until you exhaust the insurance’s coverage and then go for donor eggs.

I am in tears reading your news regarding to your devastating loss and the grieve process that you and your DH have to go through. I wish your test result will tell you something about the cause. But in some cases, you may never know the answer to that. I know it is not easy after the horrible OHSS and all, not to mention the job pressure and finance burden! I am glad that you at least trying positively with your diet and life style. May I add Yoga and Massage on the top of everything? When I was trying to conceive, I did Yoga (1~2 time per week, 30 min each) and had someone to perform massages on my lower belly (once per week, 4 weeks total before ET). Toga helped with positive thinking and massage should increase the circulation in reproductive organs. BTW, have you used low dose aspirin to thin your blood after OHSS? - some say high E2 level clot blood which may cause embryos to stop growing.

How are your little ones? Eloise starts craw and she pulls up a lot also - more than crawling. She had two bottom teeth now, she had them when she was 7 months. She yells to taste our food also – I mean she starts to tell us what she wants by making special sounds now. Our baby girl who cried all the time is not there anymore, how time flies!

Have you gotten more sleep now? Eloise wakes up at least once at the nights at the moment and I am too lazy to do anything special, just take her out of the crib and co-sleep in another bed upstairs with her. She generally whines a little, and then stop whining if she hears any sound, she waits a few seconds, if she does not see us coming upstairs (our room is downstairs, she sleeps alone upstairs), she whines a little more and little louder. I would only show up when she turns whines into cries, which is few minutes after the starts of her whining, because sometimes she just wakes up briefly and then goes back to sleep by herself. Anyway, ever since I don’t have the pressure to wean her anymore, I became too lazy to train her to go back to sleep on her own at nights. Best luck to you with Andrew!

Kiwi, sorry about FSH info. This is all so heartbreaking at times. Since your Dr. still wants you to try, there is still a chance. THink positive. You mentioned DE, how do you feel about that? What does DH think? Hope I am not prying, it's just that I am at that place right now and I am curious about how other people feel. My DH is warming up to the idea. A while back he never would have considerd it. After all we've been through, we tend to feel differently. ALso, we've learned so much more about DE option. It just doesn't seem strange to me at all. It seems like a great option.

Hello to everyone/anyone I missed. Thanks for being here.
Thanks for all of the DE info girls. Lucky I live in US. Now I just need to win the lottery... only I don't play it. I feel like I gamble all the time while doing this IVF thing. If it does come to DE, for me, I feel good about it, all except the expense of it. But as you ladies know, we will do what we have to. Anyway, Dr. said... Don't give up yet! Wants us to try a while longer with own eggs. Like you said Yasmina, use the insurance while I can. Have to take a month off from IVF but will do a natural cycle IUI, (Have to do something.) So, back to the ovulation sticks. It's been a while since I used those. It will feel good to be off shots for a while. Give my gutt and my butt a chance to recover. Have a good day all. Think positive.

Hi Chriss

You're definitely not prying with the DE questions - it's actually helping me think out a loud about this, as like you, it will be a new road to travel down for us....
I've decided that I'm not that precious about passing my genes on. (Altho my genetic kids would be absolutely bloody gorgeous, witty and intelligent etc etc...!!! ) However, I would dearly love my DH to have a genetically related child as I feel like this IF is all my fault. (He's younger and our problem initally was diasgnosed as unexplained fertility, which, let's face it, is probably age related on my side!!!). We haven't really discussed DE in depth yet, but I think he would prefer adoption as the next step, as he thinks I have physically been through enough over the last few years. I have to agree, in that respect, as I am almost totally drained of enthusiasm and drive at the moment. This IF rollercoaster ride has taken it's toll and I 'm finding it harder and harder to stay positive and balanced about most things these days! (I'm one of those dreadful woman who's not used to failure and I have to admit I've been pushing this thing to the limit sometimes to the point where it's over taken our whole lives - not good!) One important thing to factor in will be that emotionally, adoption is pretty much a sure thing, whereas DE still has a degree of uncertainty to it. So who knows? Just need a Plan B to cling to at the moment...!!!
Sorry about the rant - at least you live in the US which is where I'll probably be flying to for treatment? So keep the updates coming or any information on this will be most welcome from you ladies in the States! Good luck with the lottery! - which reminds me I'd better go out and get ticket too !
