Can you start IVF cycle off of a Chemical Pregnancy cycle???

I did a FET on 9/26/07 and had a chemical pregnancy REsaid to stop meds 2 days ago. Our insurance is changing at the end of the year and it covers about 50% of our IVF so I wanted to get in a fresh cycle before our insuranced changes at the end of the year.
Can you do a fresh cycle coming off of a chemical pregnancy cycle? I hope to start my bleed within the next couple of days and see if I could start my lupron off that cycle. Any information would be helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry about your loss. i also had a fet on 9/28 with a chemical pregnancy only. i talked to my doc yesterday and he said i could do a fresh ivf cycle starting next month. my period started on sunday 10/14 and i am on the pill again. however, my bhcg values are going up a little, they are at 18 right now, so i need to do another blood test next week, which means i may have to delay a little. in general though, it looks like you could get another cycle in this year. good luck.

After my chemical pregnancy in Aug'06 I started a FET cycle the following month, and got a BFP. Unfortunately ended up being a blighted ovum, meaning the sac was growing but the embryo stopped growing early on, so I had to have a D&C. I then took a few months off, did accupuncture, and additional testing and they found out that I had to take additional supplements (FOLIC ACID) as my body wasnt absorbing it properly, which could have been the reason for chemical pregnancy and blighted ovum. With the accupuncture and additional FOLIC ACID supplement I got my BFP in April'07.
I recommend that you consult with your DR, they dont usually do additional testing after just one early miscariage, but at least you will know what your options are. Most Doctors will OK starting the next cycle without having to wait extra time though...

Hi Brenda,
I am sorry that you had to go through a chemical pregnancy. I've been through 3 and they are very hard.
At your clinic, do they put you on bcp pills for a month or start you right into stims?
My clinic doesn't used bcp so they told me I had to wait a month. They wanted to ensure that my ovaries had a month to rest between stimulation periods but that would mean that you could start mid to late November and still get in another cycle this year. If you are put on bcps before your stimulation cycle then I am sure they could start you immediately after your chemical.
Either way you should have no problem fitting in another fresh cycle!

Hi Brenda,

I had an FET on 9/19. My first beta on 10/3 was 28 and my second on 10/5 was 15. They took me off the meds and told me to call them when I got my period. I started bleeding 4 days later. We had more bloodwork done and my beta was down to 0. The doctor told us it was considered a chemical pregnancy.

My period lasted from 10/9-10/12 and we saw the doctor again on 10/15. The doctor will start me on Lupron on 10/30. I think that as long as the doctor is sure that your body took care of the chemical pregnancy on its own, it is safe to start another cycle of IVF.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you also. I spoke with the nurse and she is thinking I could start lupron (still have to check with RE on Monday afternoon after my blood work comes back) on 11/6 that would be day 21 of my cycle I started bleeding yesterday.
Are you doing a fresh or frozen cycle? Maybe we can be IVF buddies?

I would LOVE to be cycle buddies! I have never had one I will be doing a fresh cycle this time. The last time I did a fresh cycle, I responded well to the meds and ovulated 28 eggs. But this time, the doctor wants to get fewer, but better quality eggs. I trust my doctor, but I am afraid that if I don't start out with a lot of embryos, I won't have any for a FET if needed. Just a whole new set of things to worry about, right?

When I start Lupron, it will be day 22 of my cycle. So it really sounds like I am only about a week ahead of you. It will be nice to have someone who is going through the same things at the same time.
