10 follies
Hi everyone,
Finally I feel like something is happening with my cycle. I have 10 follies ranging from 7 to 17- so a big range. Who knows what I'll end up with - some too small,some past it. I'm guessing ET will be on Tues or Wed.
I'm on a different time then most of you being on the other side of the world. It's Friday night right now 10:30 pm. That's Friday am for most of you I think.
Did anyone ge nasty headaches with the stims (I'm on a flare, with high FSH drugs)

Hi ladies, I hope you all don't mind if I crash your board. I'm hopeing to find other ladies to lean on during this process. My DH is wonderful but I think sometimes men just don't understand what we and our bodies are going through.
A little about us. We were diagnosed with Unexplained Infertility in 2004. I have a 15 DS from a previous relationship. We had one natural pregnancy in 2005 that resulted in m/c at 12 weeks (5/5/05) which resulted in having two d&c's but after all that my tubes are still open and everything looks good no scar tissue. We have done 6 cycle's of IUI all BFN's, we started our first cycle of IVF in September but was cancelled because I only had 6 follies that did not grow at the same rate. I had one follie at 18 and the rest at 10's and 7's the doctor's felt it would be best to cancel for IVF and do IUI. Since we had 6 previous attempts at IUI and no luck and of course all the $$$ we have spent with no insurance help for any of this we decided to just trigger and try and the old fashioned way. Well BFN, so AF arrived and they channged my lupron to microlupron and increased my gonal f. I started stimming last night and have my first u/s on Monday. Hopeing for growing follies!!

What dose of gonal- f are you on?
That's interesting about the amount of follies thay cancelled you for. Clinics are so varied in their expectations and procedure.
They were very pleased at my 10 and said that I wouldn't want anymore or I'd feel even worse (bloating etc).
Yet on some threads I've read about women who aim for 20 or 30 +. It doesn't seem to increase your chances of healthy eggs though that last the distance. Who knows!!!
How is everyone else? I am lying in bed attempting to type up school reports (I'm a school teacher) but playing on the net was more enticing.
I am consoling myself with eating soft cheese on rice crackers (sorry naturopath) and tempting fate that in a few weeks I won’t allowed to eat that sort of stuff, due to the fact I will be knocked up.

PrincessB-I start stimming tomorrow night (Saturday) I am on the microdose protocal, with 450 follistim and 10 dilute HCG, Er id on 10/31 with ET on 11/3 or 11/5......

My protocal this month is Microdose twice daily, menopure for two days and 450 of Gonal f. I thought them cancelling my cycle for six follies was strange as well but my dr. explained to us that if we continued we had two options the first being to trigger now and likely only end up with the follie at 18 being mature enough while the others were still at 10's and 7's or we could continue the follicle at 18 would be overdone (whatever that means) and would only have two that might be mature enough. I agree each clinic is different I have heard of many whom have continued with only two follies. Well hopefully this time will be more like our dr. wants we'll find out Monday.

The lupron gave me headaches for a couple of days as well. Also I am starting to bruise from the shots. I didnt feel a thing the first few times but i guess my tummy is getting tired of being poked. Still... It's not that bad.

Feeling a little better
Hello all!
Wanted to give an update. As I stated in an earlier post, I had a terrible week so on Thursday, I went back to the doc to get cked out and was admitted into the hospital for observation and to get fluids. Come to find out, on top of the ivf pain, I had gotten a terrible stomach virus/bug and had become severly dehydrated. I was in hospital for a day and a half. Back home now. Feel a little better but still weak. Doc says it will take me a few days. Getting more excited about the preg test on 10/29.

Baby08 - that is horrible that you've been so sick. I am glad to hear that you went to the doctor and were able to get the treatment you needed. As if this whole process isn't enough to deal with. But you are now on the mend and hopefully will be in fine form to celebrate your bfp on the 29th!

As for me, I am doing okay. Finished my 1st week of the 2ww and can't wait until my test on the 29th! I've had a little bit of cramping and my bb's are sore generally at night but not much in the morning (trying not to read into that). I have a hpt left over from a previous cycle so i think I'll crack it open next Saturday just to prepare myself for the results on the 29th.

Hi,
I'm back with bad news. The nurse called us early in the morning of Sat, the day when I was supposed to have ET. Our cycle was cancelled. Went to see the RE. He explained that my eggs were not good. One was not normal, the other didn't survive fertilization. And he said I have problems with my eggs!! This could be due to the fact that I have had endo which 'eats' into my ovaries.
He also said that low response to drugs = poor quality of eggs. I don't know how he derive to this equation.
Talisen_cat - which flare protocol were you on? The RE recommended that my next cycle be on 'micro-flare'. He said this is new, only been around for 2+ years but has shown to produce more eggs (how much is more??).....
Anyone had been low respondent, but subsequent cycle produced lots of eggs??
How long should I wait before I start on the next cycle??
I'm kinda of devastated for the denied chance of going through the 2WW. My DH said it's a blessing in disguise - rather that going through the 2WW and have the same result end of the day.
I have cried much and I tell myself to be strong.... No more crying for me....

Crystal, I know the head space your in, and I am so sorry for the cancelled cycle. My history- it may help to share....
1st IVF- I had my first cycle cancelled the day before ET as I only had 3 follicles. I was on puregon (stims).
2nd IVF- Used a slighter higher dose of stims (this time gonal –F). I got 10 eggs, 8 fertilized and 1 made it to a perfect blast. It took , but I lost it week 3 (chemical pg they called it).
3rd IVF- back on puregon got 3 really low quality/lousy eggs, 2 transferred, no good.
4th IVF (Current one). Back to Gonal –f (where I got 10 eggs last time), on a flare cycle.
Basically the flare at my clinic was 1 day of lucrin (suppressing my natural cycle). It began on day 1 of period. Then Day 2 I began high doses of the stims - 300 (Gonal-f again due to the better results for me). Basically, they don’t suppress you for as long. It’s actually felt super quick.
A few days ago I had 10 follies, now I have 13 and am triggering tomorrow night.
It’s been 3 years since my last cycle, so I have the age factor. I also saw a naturopath who told me that I need to clean up my system, liver in particular. The liver is very important in regulating hormones, and her explanation was that I was not processing the meds well, that’s why I was a slow responder. I changed my eating habits and had acupuncture.
My last doc said I should consider donor eggs, but here I am 3 years older and more follicles than ever. I mean, we’ll find out in a few days time what they actually harvest though.
Don’t lose heart just yet Cyrstal. The first cycle is really like a test run. It gives the doc an idea on how your system responds to the drugs/protocal. Also, my doc keeps reminding me, it’s not the amount of eggs, but the QUALITY. (Stimming too fast can affect the quality apparently). I actually have changed clinics for this current cycle, just to try a different approach.
But don’t give hope just yet I hope that’s helped. .

Basically the flare at my clinic was 1 day of lucrin (suppressing my natural cycle). It began on day 1 of period. Then Day 2 I began high doses of the stims - 300 (Gonal-f again due to the better results for me). Basically, they don’t suppress you for as long. It’s actually felt super quick.
A few days ago I had 10 follies, now I have 13 and am triggering tomorrow night.
It’s been 3 years since my last cycle, so I have the age factor. I also saw a naturopath who told me that I need to clean up my system, liver in particular. The liver is very important in regulating hormones, and her explanation was that I was not processing the meds well, that’s why I was a slow responder. I changed my eating habits and had acupuncture.
My last doc said I should consider donor eggs, but here I am 3 years older and more follicles than ever. I mean, we’ll find out in a few days time what they actually harvest though.
Don’t lose heart just yet Cyrstal. The first cycle is really like a test run. It gives the doc an idea on how your system responds to the drugs/protocal. Also, my doc keeps reminding me, it’s not the amount of eggs, but the QUALITY. (Stimming too fast can affect the quality apparently). I actually have changed clinics for this current cycle, just to try a different approach.
But don’t give hope just yet I hope that’s helped. .
