Hi everyone,

Daniel Luke Morris was born on Saturday 27th September, at 1355pm.
He was a week and a half early.

He's absolutely gorgeous and both me and DH are already both madly in love. He's only a tiddler, weighing in at 6lbs 1oz.....but it was still a nightmare trying to get that little head to pop out. Despite calling me a star, the midwife said I'm not a very good pusher...

I started having contractions in Safeway at about 7pm on Friday, I thought they were wind pains or braxton hicks(they didn't feel like I'd imagined a contraction would). Anyway, by three in the morning I'd realised that I was in labour(cos I'm dead astute me!)and my contractions were 7 minutes apart. I rang the labour ward who advised me to try not to go in until they were 3 minutes apart. Well by 11am on Saturday I couldn't cope any longer with the pain and the contractions were still only 5 and 6 minutes apart so I rang again and was told to go in. Would you believe I arrived there fully dilated and ready to go! So much for the planned epidural on the car journey there. I managed about 5 minutes of gas and air before the midwife took that off me too (to take advantage of the contractions!?), so pretty much had a very UNPLANNED natural birth! Have to say though that it was tiring more than it was painful.

Anyway he's here now thank god, and worth any pain (and stitches) that I might have been through. And as for me, I'm being treated like some kind of saint by a very proud new Dad.....trouble is due to a bad accident he recently suffered at work, the git can't do anything except hold baby!

Well good luck everyone, I look forward to seeing your postings soon.

Suzanne.x

Congratulations Suzanne and DH and welcome to Daniel Luke!

It sounds like the birth was interesting but then at least Daniel didn't wait too long to make an appearance. I have to say it's a cool name - my son is also a Daniel and he weighed 6lb 2oz so pretty similar.

Enjoy being a Mummy.

Jules
