How sweet of you guys to ask about me! :) I appreciate it a lot.

I just returned home an hour ago from the NICU and have very little time to write but I will try my best.

After 2 weeks on hospital bedrest and being on magnesium I couldnt' be held back any longer and the babies made their way on August 30th. They were born after an emergency c-section due to a placenta abruption I had that morning. We have been so blessed that our son only needed a breathing tube for half a day to get a dose of surfactant and was back to room air the next day.

The babies are:
Bodie Burton Bates, 4 lbs. 13 oz., 17 3/4" long.
Annelise Lucia Bates, 4lbs. 10 oz., and 18.5" long.

I have literally been at the hospital in the NICU from 7 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. every night since they were born and tomorrow I will start sleeping in the NICU until they come home on Thursday or Friday. YEAH!!!!!! It has been a long road but I am above and beyond thrilled to be on it! The babies are just adorable and sweeter than I could have dreamt. I will post photos as soon as I get more time. Maybe this weekend and then I want to get caught up on everyone else out there!

Just a quick funny. . .I have been breastfeeding and all I can say is my boobs are going thru a major from of torture! YIKES!!!! I have been able to keep up but man am I getting a beating from it! They should use this in army training!

Hope this finds everyone happy and healthy and growing sweet babies!!!
Much love,
Kimberly

Kimberly- I am so happy for you! They are a really good size, bigger than mine were. I can't wait to see pictures of them.

It sounds like you are doing well and it's great to hear that the babies needed so little NICU time. As tiring as it is in the NICU, just wait until you have them both home! Just remember if you can make it thru the first 3 months, it gets so much easier.

Kimberly,

I am so happy for you honey. Hey they are really good weights for babies born so early. Well done you.

Dying to see pictures of the little ones.

I can't wait until my two little men come out. I am seriously struggling walking at the moment and I have the sorest ladies bits because they are causing so much pressure down there. Dying to join your club.

I am so happy for you Kimberly. I haven't posted in a long time but you gave me words of encouragement at one point also and I appreciated it so much. Congrats! How far along were you actually when they were born (anyone else can let me know as I know she's so busy!)? I am due 11/17 with twins - not thinking I'll make it full term but things look good so far (I'll be 31 weeks on Saturday) and I love hearing success stories.

Lisa - I hear you about the pressure and soreness.

Also, anybody have a racing heart rate? I can't even make my son's lunch without it escalating. My blood pressure is always low and it still is (thank goodness) but I feel like my heart is going to jump out of my chest!

Hi Kimberly,
Congrats and best wishes. Try not to wear yourself out too much, I have had the NICU experience right after c-section and I know it can be tiring. Babies will do just fine, take care of yourself too.

Thanks Deepa and Allison!

We have been home for about a month now and all is going great. The babies are just sweet as can be and keeping me extra busy but we wouldn't have it any other way.

The NICU was a challenge but now it all seems like a blur. I was there for 12-16 hours a day and was so happy to have it over with. We had a fabulous NICU experience in our hospital and are so glad we live here in Boise where our NICU is one of the top in the US. All the rooms are seperate and decorated like real nurseries so it feel very homey. It's not all sterile looking and the babies aren't under bright lights and the smell of equiptment and strerility.

They are getting big as well. 6.5 lbs! That may sound small but it looks so big to us. I bet they have even gotten bigger since that weigh in. The time goes by so fast. I just hope time will slow a little bit for us so we can really enjoy this stage. This is the most amazing time of our lives!

Thanks everyone for asking about us. We really feel cared about and loved from so many. It has made whole life changing experience even better!

Take care and good luck to everyone!
