Underwired Bras??

Hello everyone. I had lunch with a friend who is 8 mths pg yesterday and she was told by her midwife to stop wearing underwired bras as soon as she was pg. Have any of you been given the same advice? I have boobs that give Jordan a run for her money and they are sooooooooo painful right now, the thought of a bra without some support freaks me out! I need to go and buy some new ones because the buggers are getting bigger already,so should I be buying non-wired??? Thanks for your advice! nikola.x

Hi Nikola, I have heard the same about underwires and have stopped wearing them. The reason was that the wire pushes on the boobs and reduces the circulation that is stronger during pregnancy while the glands get ready for breast feeding . The maternity bras give you more support than you imagine and really are comfortable. Are we going to see you on page 3 then ? Susi

Susi You might have already seen me I do a lot of modelling for The Sun. I'll let you know when my next shoot is.....although I don't suppose I'll be getting much work soon. thanks for the advice! nikola.x

Nikola, There's a good value 2 pack in M&S - one black, one white for 20 quid - which the girls on this side recommended. I agree with Susi, they give you more vavavoom that you might expect. They look nicer with clothes on top though - not exactly a foxy design! Beck x

Hi Girls, just wanted to join the great bra debate. I bought M&S two pack yesterday and they are really comfy and give good support - they're a bit like a sports bra I suppose. Showed my hubby and he very helpfully said it made me look like Mrs Doubtfire but that's just him !! Seriously I found them lovely and soft and they do look nice & smooth under clothes - lovely wide straps - the normal skimpy ones I go for (well not that skimpy as already was 36C, but now am D-cup) were starting to feel a bit like cheese wire on the shoulders. Just to change the subject a bit - I STILL CANT BELIEVE THAT ITS ME WRITING ABOUT SUCH THINGS !!!! Are we all the same in that sometimes it just hits you that you're pregnant ???? - its such a wonderful thing to experience and I thank God every day !!!!!! Good luck with your bra quests !! Jo. YES! Jo, I feel exactly the same way! I had started to think I might never experience all this, and am constantly on cloud nine. I've got my 12 wk scan on Monday (I'll actually be 13 wks that day) and provided all is well we'll be going public then (though we've blabbed to quite a few people already!) I am now very keen to get a bump - tummy feels everso slightly hard but that's all really - I want more physical evidence! Sure it'll all seem a bit more real when I see a baby shape on the screen though. Keep safe all, and enjoy every minute (OK, maybe not the puking) Beck xx

Hey Nikola, Get rid of the pesky things - not because I've heard you have to, but because they're sooooooo damned uncomfortable. Refusing to buy any new ones too early, I took a pair of scissors (art teacher style of course) and pulled out all my wires. Tell you what, gave a new look all right - couldn't quite distinguish the boobs from the belly for the droop

Anyway, have resisted and finally got some new ones in Mothercare (only just dared go in - you know, must as seen us coming - scared couple gripping hands tightly as the threshold was crossed...) What worries me is I'm only one cup size away from their biggest one now, and I'm the same size as I was before :-0!!!!!!!!!!! Personally I'm hoping the baby drinks them away in a few months! Zoe x

Nikola Oh Man I can't belive I have to give up the Boob Booster's, although I had heared this before about it effecting breast feeding, but as I thought I would never get here did not give it much thought. So I best be off to M&S, but my Boob are still painful so need some support, I have to get up every night around 2am for a WEE and I have to hold up my Boobs as they hurt to much when I walk to the Loo!!! Anyone else weeing for england, or is it all the water I'm drinking? Went to the doctor's yesterday normal GP and she smiled when I told her about my HCG being 852.........we shall see!! hi thanks for all your advice, I guess I have a date with M&S this weekend! Wibbs - I go to the toilet 2-3 times a night!! Its probably got to do with the 8 pints of water I'm still drinking each day! Its funny I could never drink this much water befoe, whereas now, I don't fancy drinking anything else! I too hold my boobs on the way to the loo! Are you still really bloated? None of my clothes fit me! I have two pairs of combat trousers that were massive and I can just fit into them! I daren't shop for bigger clothes yet in case something goes wrong! take care all love nikola.xx

hi girls sorry im a oldie, had my miricle in july...just popped in for a nose ! regarding bra's...........its true your suppose to wear just support bra's, mothercare and m&s do lovely ones and so do most large depatment stores...some are really nice and dainty.with thin straps. im still wearing mine now :-}. good luck to you all xx

Nikola Have you heared from Kat??? I am getting worried still no news...!!! Today I am feeling very tearful and keep bursting into tears for no reason, phoned dh and he said whats the matter and I just broke down, then the next minute was ok and laughing. A friend of mine is a midwife, and she said because the hcg is so high that you will get like this. Have you had the same??? I don't have any bloating and have stayed the same so far so good. Boobs are still killing me though.And very tired. Hope you are well and not having to many nasty syptoms. Take care Wibbs XXX

hi wibbs I too am worried about Kat, I came straight in and then on here to check on her. She did say she wasn't going to test until tonight, so maybe she hasn't got in from work yet. Lets hope she is too busy celebrating!!! Sorry you've felt tearful. Its bound to happen with the amount of hormones we have floating around. I feel ok, although am sure I'll cry when Carolynne doesn't win fame academy! I went shopping today because I'm officially huge! The bloatedness hasn't gone away and I couldn't stand being uncomfortable and not having any clothes to fit. I went bra shopping too and have managed to go from a 34DD to a 36F - if this is after 6 weeks, I dread to think what I'll be by the time I'm 6 months!! I bought some new jeans and some black trousers so I have a basic wardrobe to hopefully last me until Christmas!! I'm very envious that you haven't got any bloating. I'm really looking forward to the scan next week and confirming what is going on inside! I'm convinced they will find seven heartbeats, I don't know about 2! When is your scan?? Take it easy, try to not get too tearful, but hey if you feel like a good cry - you go for it girl. love nikola.xx

Thanks Nikola I feel ok now just watched emerdale.....awaiting my dinner have a thing for pasta at the moment.And toast with strawberry jam (not together) My scan is on the 16th October....I keep thinking that when they scan me there will be nothing there!!!!!!!(apart from toast & pasta) scary.!!!!! When is yours????? Still no news from Kat.........does she not realise that our hormones are raging and we need to know NOW. (only kidding) not quite that bad yet, although dh might disagree. Hi Wibbs. How nice to hear from you. Oh, yes, I've got a funny moment to share with you. I went shopping today for a new bra (I've only worked my way from a 34C to a 34D) and while I was there I had to pee really bad. I went to the restroom and because my belly is so bloated my pants are really tight. Well, I guess that put too much strain on the zipper in the back and I couldn't get it down, I tried for at least 10 minutes thinking I was going to wet myself, crying the whole time. Finally, I got it together and managed to get it down. It was the best pee I ever had! So, that goes to show you, that I am both bloated and tearful right now! I am so ready to get this first scan done. I always thought 2 weeks was a short time until I started IVF. I haven't been told my due date by my clinic, but from what I have read, my due date should be the first week of June. I'm just not sure what day. Nikola, I'm still waiting on my pigs. I'll let you know as soon as I get them. You would make my dh a happy man, he's a boob guy. I've got your scan marked on my calendar for the 10th, I can't wait to hear. Did the date change? Anybody having any wierd cravings yet? My babies are hooked on cream of tomato soup. Val
