The only real advice one of the nurses gave to me was stay hydrated lots of water, which I did also I was lucky after the transfer I literally didn't move and went to bed for a day or so in the vague hope that if anything had worked I wanted it to stay put!
My friend helped with Jess school etc and Paul did meals etc. Then I went about business as usual and helped at a childrens church holiday group I didn't move any tables or lift anything but just helped with the craft. I remember giving Jess a piggy back through the park on way home because it was so muddy and when I put her down thinking oh dear shouldn't have done that. We had a curry delivered that evening and later when I went the loo there was a tiny speck of coloured discharge and I remember telling Paul and he said it will be fine you haven't done anything stupid have you? and I burst into tears and told him and was worried sick.
Well it was positive so whether it was implantation blood or what I'll never know because I was pregnant and we got our little Kirsten who is now 2years 5months old.
I didn't drink alcohol and I'm a vegetarian and my diet is not that bad not spectacular though by any means, Paul's a complete carnivore. Neither of us smoked.
We have one daughter Jess age eleven. After years and many things happening my husband & I paid and went for ICSI embryo trans 19/08/04. I had a baby daughter 26th April 2005 we have called her Kirsten so now we are blessed with two children.

I have been going through infertility treatments due to low sperm counts of my hubby. It's been more than 3 years and we have tried everything, like IUI [8-10 times], IVF [3 times], once I did get pregnant thru IVF but had a miscarriage in 4 month. I am 35 now and need to decide one way or the other. From the beginning my doctor has been advising ICSI but we have been hesitant due to mixed information available on this treatment. Some doctors feel it's perfectly fine and others pose some concerns. I have read a lot about it on the internet too. I am mainly concerned about the development/growth of the baby. I would really appreciate it if someone could share their experiences on ICSI. If you had a child/children through ICSI, pls share your practical knowledge and experience of how the growth and development of your child is. I would really.............really............really appreciate if you could share this real life experience.
Thank-you so.............much in advance!!
Hi Gori
I am now 35 and from the age of 19 have suffered with endometriosis I have had many operations, taken lots of different pills, and been given injections to give me the menopause. My specalist said the only way I might have a chance at having a baby would be through IVF. Any way when we came to going through the procedures of IVF we found out my Husbands sperm had very poor mobility and was very abnormal. This meant our best chance would be to go for ICSI treatment. The injections etc were ok its like a cycle of IVF except they put the sperm inside the egg to help things along. Any way after the treatment and the removal of eggs the manage to choose two that were suitable for plantation. We then had to wait the two weeks which all things concidered went really quickly, and to our surprise I was pregnant one of the eggs had a very small heart beat in the middle of it when we went for the scan. Archie was born on the 20th July 2006 weighing a very healthy 6 10. When he was born we had to be readmitted back to hospital because he had contracted blook posioning from the delivery. He was very poorly and spent a week in hospital which was a horrible experience and something I would not wish upon anyone. The good news is he is healthy active and now running around at 15 months. His developement and progression is the same as any child accept he is very special. We are now seeing the consultant again in Bristol in November to start another cycle next year, we will again go for the ICSI cycle because for us its the best chance possible. I would say to you have a go you have been through so very much already. I know we were very luckly and I don't really know why because luck isnt something we usually have the pleasure of. What ever you decide please stay in touch.
Suffered with endomestrios since the age of 19 now 35. Told pregnancy would have to be through IVF. Husband abnormal sperm count. One cycle of ICIS successful. Little boy.

Hi Justine -
Thanks for your feedback. I was never advised this...interesting. I guess this means you did not cut dairy from your diet generally either. I was advised to cut dairy entirely (almost) and red meat and caffeine and alcohol of course. After our last IVF was not successful, I have been allowing myself to eat everything and anything that I want b/c it's just so tough emotionally and physically.
We will try again but probably not for a while...any thoughts advice you ahve in this regard is greatly appreciated. My 2nd time through IVF I had a chemical pregnancy but it was lost. I pray that we are blessed with child eventually.
I am continuing to do accupuncture and my husband has started taking fertility supplement and I am generally drinking no more than 2 caffeine's a day, but am hestitant to cut entirely right now b/c spirits kind of low...your thoughts?
Last question - what do you think was key to your success?
