Did I test too early?

Post by Candace »

I just POAS and it said 'pregnant'. I don't want to get too excited because I am nervous it could be the HCG shot. I took the trigger 10/10 (14 days ago). I am 7days post my transfer. Any thoughts would be so helpful!

Candace, normally the HCG shot takes about 10 days to get out of your system, so, without trying to make false ilussions or anything like that, I would actually say congratulations!!!!!!!!!!. It is kind of early, but not unheard of, was it a 5 or a 3 day transfer? (if it was a 5 day then it is not thaaat early). If you have doubts, don't do the digital ones, do the regular ones and repeat it in the next couple of days and check if the second line gets darker or not, if it gets darker, then there is no doubt you are pg!!!!!!
Keep us posted!!

You are welcome!!!
In a way ICSI girl is right, normally HPT's are evil, but as an HPT addict myself I really can't tell you to stay away
But I heard of some people having 5dt having positives even 5d post transfer (5dp5dt), so let's see what happens!!!!!, I have a lot of faith that you have a BFP!!!!!

Hey ladies,

just wondering out loud, if you are on the fresh cycle then obviously it would not be wise to test early due to the HCG trigger shot. However, if you are on a FET like me, I suppose you could be testing as early as a few days after transfer? Well not that i intend to POAS, haven't had any symptoms and not thinking too much about it. Just asking out of curiosity :-)

Good luck to all and vicky77, saw you on the other thread and congrats on your BFP :-)

Candace-
I did a 5 day transfer of 2 blasts. It was a frozen cycle so there was no trigger shot. I POAS 5dp5dt and it said Pregnant and also did the cheaper tests with the lines and they also gave me a BFP. I've done them everyday since and it still says pregnant! I go in for my Beta tomorrow so I will let you know! I hope and pray that we got our BFP's!

Hi Ladies,
I wanted add my 2 cents to the conversation:
Candace -stay with the positive mental attitude, but realize that you did test a little early. I think you probably have a BFP, but it really is very early, so stay "cautiously optimistic." Please post when you get your "official" BFP!
BaoBao -yes, on a FET the only HCG in your system will be produced by a pregnancy, so if you're so inclined -test away. One word of warning though, I recently went through a FET cycle & POAS on day 10 and got a faint (+). Then POAS again day 12 & got a fainter (+), then again on day 13 & got a (-). The BFN was confirmed by blood test on day 14.
It was really, really disappointing to have the (+) then the (-).
So I would advise in general to stay away from HPT's, they are evil, they cause even more of an emotional roller coaster. There's a reason why the MD's don't test until day 14.
Also, don't worry about the symptoms/no symptoms thing. It is way way way too early for any pregnancy symptoms to be caused by the baby. It is all the estrogen/progesterone/HCG that you have been given. Don't let it fool you.
Good luck & baby dust all around,
2ndtimer :)

I know the HPTs are really evil! I just can't help it!!! I read the that HCG shot takes up to 14 days to leave your system - I know I am early. I just took another test - there was a very faint line. I guess I will know tomorrow if the line gets darker (at least now I have a baseline). I have lost all patience! This is my 3rd IVF/ICSI - I am really counting on this one :) Thanks to everyone! I love this board!!!

Wow, really didn't expect my little question to get so many enthusiastic responses from everyone! Thanks so much ladies, I find it so amazing that we are all from different parts of the world, "faceless" and yet so ready to support one another...what is a better show of women solidarity than this?!

Well I suppose everyone is different so HPT works for some early in the stages and others not. My gf who had a normal PG told me that she tested a day before her menses were due and got a BFN, but as she was feeling hot and flustered a couple of days later, she tested again and this time it's BFP. I have told myself not to POAS and so far I'm sticking to it. I've had 4 failed IUIs and during that period I POAS countless times, so the call from the Doc's office was sort of mitigated in a way. I still cried buckets though.

2ndtimer, sorry to hear abt the one that didnt make it and thanks for the chin up regarding the symptoms. I also think whatever I'm feeling right now is from the effects of the pill popping!

faithandhope/Candace, good luck and keep us posted on your Betas.

ICSI girl, RE didnt mention anything about HPT, I didn't ask anyway. I suppose for doctors, the only true gauge is when you do the blood test and they see the numbers. So I don't think they give much thought to HPTs.

vicky77, your numbers are looking good!

baobao --- yeah, my doc/nurse didn't OFFER UP any info on HPT's either....but you bet your sweet a$$ i asked!!! only cuz i'd read/heard SO much on "to-pee-or-not-to-pee"....... nurse said "well - we really don't recommend it" (DUH) -- "but if you're GOING TO DO IT" and then she gave me like a day or two before hcg/beta bw test (which would have been right around 10dp3dt).....so i was like - why bother??

Either way...........SENDING YOU BUCKETS OF GOOD LUCK WISHES!!!!!

hi ladies, so I POAS this morning and the line was darker than yesterday (still pretty light though). I am remaining cautiously optimistic because I know things can always change (I had a chemical preg last month). I will save any really celebrating until my beta (Monday) but at least the good news helps me get through the second half of the 2ww.
