What a crap day! Struggled (and failed) to keep it together at work and ended up having a long talk (and cry) with one of my managers who I hadn't previously told.
I did hpt this morning but have started spotting and cramping since so AF's not far away. I'm guessing she'll arrive Saturday and I've got to work then too.
Just want a day in my pj's but won't get that til Sunday. Tomorrow's one of my days for visiting the children's ward and neo-natal unit too, think it's gonna be tough.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do next. I've been doing this continually for 5 cycles now (9 months if you count the cancelled cycles at the beginning) and feel like I need a break but only have til Dec to use the donor sperm. I rang the clinic and spoke to the nurse this afternoon. She's gonna ring back tomorrow when she's talked to the consultant. I asked whether its worth increasing my dose as I've still only been getting 1 mature follie. She's also gonna check with the embriologist as he was checking if they'd extend the deadline for the sperm. Will wait and see what she says. The consultant might want me to go in for a full review which I guess won't be soon enough for this cycle anyway. I just feel so worn down by it all at the moment. I'm not ready to give up yet but am not sure how much more I can take.
Thanks for listening

I guess I should feel very lucky as everyone on the team where I work knows what I am doing and my boss is so wonderful about it all. He is a pretty young guy and we were friends before I took this job. He is incredibly supportive and told me recently that his daughters pray for me at night that I will get pregnant (they are like 3 and 5 years old - how cute!!!). Anyway, he is great about me taking time off when I go through IVF - totally understanding! I am lucky.

Well ladies, we are like 0 for 4 right now. We need some success!!

Su - hang in there, girl. It is a tough road but I just feel like it will all work out one way or the other for all of us. And if you need to sit in your pajamas and cry all day - then do it! Sometimes a break down of sorts is good for us all!!!

Ok - so, who is up next!?!?

Oh Su
I know, some days you wonder why you even got out of bed! I had a crappy day yesterday too an was saying to myself "why do I keep putting myself through all of this?" Sue have you thought about doing ivf with your last lot of sperm? It may give you a better chance?

hello

Well I woke up this morning and had no af. I fully expected for my cycle to stay on track and I would start today with all the pains I am having. Today is the 15th day since the IUI so I took and test and it was BFN. I am not going to let my hopes drag yet though. It could just be early for the test or I just may not be starting until tomorrow. I will keep everyone posted.

Su, hang in there. it does suck to have to keep it together and work. sunday is just around the corner and you can take a bath and let it all out then. light some candles and just try to clear your mind.

mkdig-i can't believe your manager said that. how thoughtless.

stephjim-my best friend never once got a BFP when she took hpt's and she was pregnant both times. and always got her first period for about a day or so.

Well I believe that AF is here full blast. I am in a lot of pain and it is the same as last month. Now, if I only bleed for a couple of days, then I will retest, but I don't think that this month worked. I really don't understand because we had so many times around ovulation where we either had sex or we had the insemination and it still did not work. Well I am taking this month off for surgery on my hand, so I will gain perspective again and be more positive next time. I will be seeing my doc on Sunday for the us follow up and part of me hopes he says to go straight into ivf next time but his original plan was to do 3 IUI. I will let everyone know the plan on Sunday.

Hi Steph
I really sorry that your af turned up   I also have been having af type cramping so who knows, I am 17 days since my iui.

Would you rather do ivf than do anther iui? I wish now that we had used a donor as a back up when I did our last isci, but dh wasn't keen on the donor idea then.

Well I'm off for my test.

So Sorry

Post by stephjim »

Kery, so sorry about your bfn. I hope one of us gets some good news this month. I have to pick up and move on. My DH does not understand the feelings I am having and just cannot comprehend when I get upset about not being pregnant this month. He is just a way positive thinker and does not think about it. I think also this month has been harder because I know I am not going straight into the next month because I have to have surgery on my hand. Maybe there will be a natural one this month. You never know.

To answer your question Kery. I would almost rather do IVF w/ ICSI next. I am not going to try it without the ICSI. My DH wants to follower the plan and do another IUI and that is what the doctor suggested in the beginning, doing 3 IUI's. So, the plan will be another IUI in December. I will let you know. Hopefully my cycles will stay 26 days not being on the Clomid this month and I can schedule everything. It is hard to get off of work for this, since I am a nurse. I see the doc tomorrow for my follow up us and will let everyone know if any of the plans change.

Kery and Steph I'm so sorry it didn't work for you either. I can't believe none of us got a BFP this month.
I don't know what I'm doing this month yet. The nurse was supposed to ring me back yesterday after talking to the consultant but I didn't hear from here. AF arrived this morning so if Im gonna do another medicated iui this month I should start injections tomorrow. I'll ring them again Monday and if its too late by then so be it. I need a break and am not sure I want to waste more money and energy on another iui anyway. I'm thinking it might be best to move on to ivf now.
It'll be interesting to see what my cycle does this month without meds. Anyone know if having had meds might kick start my body into a routine? Wishful thinking I suspect

Steph, your DH might not understand how you're feeling but you can be sure that we all do. Feel free to come on here and vent anytime.

I'm feeling really tired and emotional this time. At last my weekend has arrived (had to work today but have got Sun and Mon off) and I plan to do NOTHING.

Hi Steph. Yep moving on is all you can do. My dh only said yes to doing the iui if I promised that I wouldn't get to wrapped up in it all. He didn't want me to be upset like I was with our other cycles. So when I told him I had to suck back the tears or he may have said "no more". He doesn't want this to take over our lives (easy for a man to say).

Sue I hope you have a good few days off. Yesterday I sat on the couch with a very large glass off wine and watched tv all day. I'm not sure if the meds will kicj start you. After I have taken meds it delays my af by about 10 days. I asked about going straight into another cycle but my clinic likes you to have a month break in between. Something about getting the last lot of meds out of the system.

Hi Mkdig yea it's all about staying positive but for myself I try and not get to excited about it all or it's just to hard when the bfn's come around. I was going to do another cycle this year but it would have to be in December. So I may wait until January as we are going home for three weeks and I would love to be able to sit down with my old friends and have a few drinks. When will you be starting your next cycle?
