FET POSITIVES??

Post by SJ BROWN »

Hi,
Hope you dont mind me crashing in on you mums to be.....I dont normally come over here but just wanted some feed back.

Just had a negative(last friday) FET and have follow up appt thur 09/10.
We did a Frozen cycle assisted by drugs, basically shut down with superfact & then Oestrodial tablets & pessaries for rest of tmt....

Reading through the clinics brochure I noticed we can do a FET with drugs (£1100) or a FET, natural cycle(£550)

Was wondering if there were any +ve out there from FET and if so which cycle did you do/recommend.
Obviously will check with clinic but if the stats are the same, am tempted by natural as would assume this takes less time?? and is cheaper and as no drugs would assume no mood swings etc, also, would be interested to hear from people who it has worked for as I am a bit cynical in thinking clinic will steer me towards drugs cycle as they will get more money......

Any feedback appreciated & wishing you all healthy pregnancies

Sarah
xx

FET POSITIVES??

Dear Sarah - sorry I can't be of any actual help re FET as I don't have any experience of this, but I just wanted to say that I was sorry to hear of your neg - it's absolutely devastating isn't it, but please be strong and positive that it will be your time next time. I had IVF both times (did not have any FE's to T!) and as far as I know the cycle that you go on is determined by your hormone levels.

Best of luck,
love Sally xxx
Me - severe endo, DH - poor sperm. First IVF ICSI Nov 02 neg. Second IVF/ICSI May 03 Positive.

FET POSITIVES??

Hi Sarah

So sorry about the -ve, know how awful it is. Don't give up though -I had 1 IVF failure, 2 ICSI failures and amazingly our first FET try (with lesser-grade embyros than the fresh cycles) and I'm now 13.5 weeks pregnant! I think it was a lot to do with having a nine month break from it all and my body being back to normal when I started it. I was put on HRT (Progynova) shortly after my period started, then when the lining was right started the cycolgest pessaries once they'd put the embies in (cost £1000). I've got PCOS, so I think some clinics use HRT in this instance. I stayed on HRT and pessaries till 12 week pregnant and personally didn't have any adverse side effects.

Everyone's condition is different, but all I know is that doing the FET on a natural cycle is only recommended if you normally have a completely 'normal' menstrual cycle (which I don't).

Wish you loads of luck and hang in there.

Love Nicola x
TTC 8 yrs. Me 35, DH 52. 1st IVF eggs didn't fertilise, sperm couldn't get through shell. 2nd & 3rd ICSI got embryos but -ve. 1st FET +ve with twins, '1 disappeared' at 9 wks. One baby due 9th April.

Hi Sarah,
Can't believe that your clinic won't let anyone do natural FET!! It seems barmy to me!!
I have done only 1 FET and that was a natural one - which unfortunatley didn't work. I chose that because I didn't want to take drugs if I didn't need to, plus its a much shorter cycle and of course costs less!
Why not phone a few other clinics and see if their protocols have changed - its not that you'd need to change clinics just have info on what other clinics are doing!
Good luck,
Di

FET POSITIVES??

Dear sarah
I go to the clinic where the mix up took place ( with the black twins ) and they let me try a natural cycle FET this year( had to abandon it when my hormone levels went mad!)So It seems crazy for another unit to refuse your treatment based on the mistake that happened at mine ( where natural cycle FET is still going on). I sometimes get the impression that "the profesionals " dont always appreciate you trying to tailor the treatment for yourself if it deviates from the norm!! Mind you I have been getting rather cynical in my old age. Out of the four cycles of froz ivf ,all of which where drug assisted,( I was over stimmed so didnt get a fresh go)the last two have been positives but only got to six weeks (I managed to block the idea of mc as an option uptil this point)Im still very hopeful for my next go ,which will have to be a fresh cycle, and wish you good luck with yours

love from Annie

Thanks for your replies & good luck Annie with your next tmt.

Reading between lines I think it is down to lack of staff!! isnt it always....
I suppose our clinic covers a large area, there are not many clinics doing IVF down this way, only 2 in Hampshire.........They only stopped about 8 months ago,

Oh well.........drugs assisted it is.......I suppose I just wanted to do something different as paranoid doing the same again means it wont work(nonsense I know)

Take care
Sarah
xx
