Hi to everyone else!!! Sorry no more personals, have to run to get some work done.

Well, we decided to give it one last try with my eggs. I started stims today so I guess I'll have my ER in about 10 days. For some reason, I am feeling really nervous this time - maybe because it is officially the last go with my eggs.

We've decided to see how many follicles I have at day 10 or day 12 and then decide whether we'll proceed with ER at that point. If there is anything less than 5 or 6 follicles we'll abort and move directly to the donor eggs. I think the next 10 days are going to be very stressful for me!

Now I have to try to book some acu and pick/order the DS... Why did work have to get ridiculously busy now?????

Hi egg heads - you sound like a lively lot! I've been lurking around the "Over 40's" thread (Hi Chriss, JenB, Sonia!) and am suddenly at a bit of a cross roads in my treatment plan.

If you have a moment, here's the brief run down on the situation -
5 years TTC (ever since we were married!), 4 years IVF treatments. 6 iui's, 5 icsi's, 2 FET's (all own eggs) - no joy!

This year was a make or break one for me. I've been 'priming' myself for one last mega cycle using my own eggs this Nov or Dec. I've been on DHEA for 11 weeks, and taking Chinese herbs for 6 months.

Now all of a sudden we're considering donor egg. I actually hadn't really thought about this until my Chinese TCM doc suggested it only a couple of weeks ago. The problem is, I have to make my decision soon as my clinic is expecting me to start my next cycle using my own eggs in the next month or so... If we go with donor eggs, I will have to change clinics as the one I'm currently at does not offer donors. All this preparation (herbs and DHEA) will have been wasted if I don't go through icsi now. (I have to stop the herbs in a couple of months as I've been on them for too long now). The donor waiting lists are quite long so any health benefits from the last 6 months will not necessarily be there when a suitable donor is ready. If I go straight to DE now and get put on the wait list, (and it works 1st try!), then I will still be a 42 yr old 1st time mum! If I use my own eggs, there's a much lesser chance of live birth, and I'm not sure I can go down the whole pregnancy and threat of a mc again.

Hmm - quite a decision!

Shall I skip the icsi and go straight to donor? How did you ladies make your decisions? I guess I have no problems with using a DE. I do have an issue with giving up the possibility of using my own eggs forever as once I go down the DE route, there will be no looking back for me.
DH wants to adopt but is quite excited about the advantages of using a younger woman's eggs, but says it's up to me and will support any decision I make (talk about sitting on the fence!). Doc at clinics (my current clinic and possible DE clinic) say it's up to me and I can still use my own eggs if I wanted to.

Hi

Had my own room, with a cracking view or a picture of twins in the corridor---first nightmare.

Then had to explain to 2 Dr what i was having done, took the paperwork from IM and eventurally got it sorted. Told him to go and talk to my consultant--she wasnt doing the op as it was a cancellation. Anyway he did talk to her and we got it sorted.

Then got my emla cream on---for the wimp of the ward and when they put the needle in, it was wrong so had to attack the other hand to-------then blissful sleep.

So got taking into theatre about 10.30am and home at 7.30pm. Very emotional day. Was in the recovery room and a nurse decided to announce to everyone her grandson had just been born, 9lb 2oz---i burst into tears and the nurse who was looking after me thought i was in pain as i couldnt speak, then explained briefly and she felt sorry for me---hate that.

The worst thing was i was bleeding quite a bit and couldnt sleep, lay there thinking about everything and feeling sorry for myself--then the tears appeared. The nurse from acu popped in to see me, my consultant asked her to check on me, thought that was so lovely of them. Anyway i sat blubbing to her as the nurses on the ward werent interested and a familiar face is better eh.

Eventually dh came to collect me at 6.30pm with the news that our friend was downstairs and had just had her baby---------this world is so unfair eh. Am happy for her and looking forward to seeing the baby but feel so drained.

Got home and went to bed, then have been up most of the night but at least the bleeding has stopped.

The adoption lady called and i have to call her back today to arrange our first visit, so some good news.

Oh ye, didnt say, everything was clear and there seems to be nothing wrong and no cysts or polps. I had a biopsy taken so will find out the results in about 3 weeks but the Dr say all looks health and fine. Dont know if this is good or bad---at least if there was something wrong then we could move on but its so frustrating being told continually there is nothing wrong and we just have to keep trying.

Anyway am popping out to my svq day for a couple of hours, cant miss that or i will lack behing. My tum is bloated and i'm tired but glad its over. Dont know how any of you manage to have it done with just sedation-----hats of to you.

andrea- WELCOME to this thread...i will give you some ideas sweetie but it is a difficult 1 ...so you need a list of pros and cons.

1st of all what quality are your eggs???
and how many???
FSH level?can you go on the DE list now and do IVF with own eggs at other clinic?
bearing all this in mind that i don't know the above ...
My gut feeling says that:
as you have been working with Chinese herbs and diet for 6 months then i would go and give my own eggs 1 last chance. Then if it doesn't work you will have no regrets say good bye to them grieve and move onto DE.
easier said thn done when your DH wants to move on now...
what does your gut feeeling say?

have a GP appointment at 3pm to sort out blood work appointment on friday...if i can get the results back on the day i will be pleased. If not i am going to buy a HPT...and do a test Friday. Dr Olivers at IM said thhis was ok aslong as it was test day...but even with a neg test DO NOT stop any meds until you have beta to confirm ass HCG less than 16 does not show up on most tests x x I also have acu this avo and hope to get meds sorted out for friday ...just in case i need them...trying to hold out some hope that i had implantation bleeding with the bleed...but feel very flat and low mooded as well as loosing all the bloating i had...On the 2ww you are sure none the wiser even if you have been preggers before...and had many symptons...HANGING in THERE...just x x x

Jen1d - you poor thing. I am so sorry you had to suffer all that rubbish insensitivity. My first miscarriege was on a gynae 4 bed room where I woman just got her tubes tied after her 4th abortion, and another was in for major surgery where they had just given her an evacuation drug for the bowel so I had the m/c on a commode! I really really feel for you, I wanted to kill them both really. Luckily you do have lots of support, and nothing is physically wrong - have you had the complete immune screens done??? I did and thanks to that got Joshi - need infos just ask Jx

Andrea welcome over here, I too was on the over 40 thread in 2005 and we then turned to DE once my POF was diagnosed. In principle I would agree with the "go with your own eggs and then do DE" advice, BUT with one proviso: when you are 9 weeks and they want you to do the screening tests (nuchal scan etc) what will you do? Just think about it, thats all. I can only say as a mum of a baby froma 27 year old donor, it was wonderful to get the Nuchal scan and triple test back so low risk. That said my sister has 2 super perfect kids born when she was 39 and 40 (yes, SHE is perfectly fertile), and her Nuchal results were terrible, as the age weighting they use in the calculation becaus eof the risk makes it so. Only you two can decide, and dh will have to come off the fence if you put it to him like that.

Was in work today, study day but went in at lunch time, just as well as i have been up all night and am exhausted. Back to normal tomorrow and working all weekend but will take it easy.

Got a call from adoption woman, appointment is on the 14th, our first visit.

Big J - Carolyn has told me about all the immune stuff but i have never had it done, think i will ask the consultant about it though, thanks.

Ok will catch up after shift tomorrow. Going to see the counsellor so should be in tears again---hope not but my body feels 90% recovered but emotionally i'm only about 50% just now---just takes time eh.

my minds in a whirl cos of this news ... good news ...my GP has given me a FULL script for all the 70 days i need my meds...no problem what so ever...Just need to test positive now and i can go to the chemist with this FAntastic prescription in my hands... I am so pleased...

on the blood beta test tho i will have to wait until monday/tuesday for the result ( for beta bloods taken friday)... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh....i cant wait that long........
so my fab GP suggested we do it a day early ...so i get bloods taken This morn ( thursday) and results late friday pm...here is hoping and praying we get the result we want x x x

Jen – what a nightmare of a day at the hospital but you coped very well. Good news about the appointment on the 14th. Looking forward to hearing your progress. About the immune screening, maybe there’s something in it. Just keep on asking questions and stay strong. Hope each day is better for you and some more luck is coming your way.

Carolyn – things are moving very fast for you which is great news. Hope you’ll be off to sunny Spain without any further complications very soon. Good luck with your scan tomorrow. Are you going to manage to get some time off work?

Andrea – welcome over here – Seems DH is making it a bit easy for himself by leaving the decision up to you. I’m with Jen that you should give your own eggs another chance. That’s what you’ve been working towards but it’s a difficult decision and needs time. Good luck!

Hi to Lucy, Gill, Chriss, Kim, Rebecca, BigJ and anyone else I missed here on this wonderful thread. All the best to you.

Today is a public holiday here so we’re taking a long weekend and flying out to London to visit friends. I’m expecting AF to turn up at the weekend so that I can start again with the tests, scans and hopefully start the meds (shots) on cycle day 21. One step at a time again this time. Lucky for us the clinic doesn’t close for the Christmas season. Of course I’m much more nervous this time because of having to cancel last time. Couldn’t face that happening again.

Unfortunately work is threatening to build up again. This week I’ve been landed with a big new project in Asia. I’d already resigned myself to the fact that I’ll have more work but yesterday I found out that the 1st meeting will be in Asia in about 3 weeks! Help!!! No idea how I’m going to get out of that. Just something else to worry about when I least need it.
Apart from that I’m just plodding along just hoping no more hurdles will be thrown in my path…Looking forward to the weekend away and of course some good news from Jen!!! (Hope I’ll get computer access somewhere over the weekend)

Bloods got tkaen this morning but the nurses had problems. I had 6 attempts at the hospital before they told me to go to the health center and get the nurses ther to do it?????????????? it took them 10 goes in all to get blood. Amazing as i had had my porridge and 2 warm eaters this morn so was hydrated...anyway the results SHOULD now be back by friday Pm. fingers crossed...
i have had a struggiling today have totally lost my PMA...have cramps and backache so feel AF is on her way...Also feel very hot and flu like so pretty yeuky really...just really weak...don't know if its flu MS or AF or BFP!!! Oh i am just a mess ....
