Hi,

Well, up until last night, I could feel Herbie moving. Today though, not a thing, and tummy feels a bit funny. Worried something is up. Asked my mum who said that they have quiet days and he was probably sleeping, but now thinking that what Ive been feeling for the last 2 and a half weeks is nothing but wind/my imagination.

Have any of you had these worries?

Love

Rachel
x
(20 weeks today)
Hi Rach

Oh Yeah I know this feeling I am exactly like you. I had a couple of days when baby didn't move and I really was starting to panic and I thought something was wrong. Your Mom is right though the baby does sleep now and will have days when its more active then others. The thing is we just don't stop worrying do we.

I have such a cold and I worry that this is affecting the baby, I have stomach ache now and I do know there is alot of bugs going round so I don't want this either.

Try not to worry, I am sure in the next day or so you should feel herbie move but if you don't then I would get in touch with your midwife.

Will you please let me know how it goes.

Love
Shell.
25wks pg
xx
Hi Rachel

Mine went through a stage of not moving and my midwife told me that sometimes they get into a position were they are moving but towards the back of you so you can't feel them.

If you are really worried contact your midwife and I'm sure she will see you to put your mind at rest by listening to the babys heart.

Take care!

Emma
x
Thanks Shell,

I must sound so neurotic. Its just that in the last 3 or 4 weeks especially, its all sunk in that we're having a baby. Before then, I felt excited but slightly detached, I think probably because there had been lots of sadness on this site and I wouldn't let myself get attached. But now though, I just love this baby so much, I can't stop talking to him and telling him how much I love him, and lots of probably very daft things too. and now I need a slap round the face with a wet kipper as Im getting all teary. I just didn't think it was possible to feel so much for something that you haven't yet held or seen.

I just pray he's just a lazy bugger like his daddy (although his daddy would obviously say "lazy bugger like his mummy more like"!!!!!

I'll let you know if there's any change.

I hope you're feeling better soon - its bl**dy awful when you can't take loads of stuff for it, isn't it. Nice cup of honey and lemon and an early night for you!

Love

Rachel
x
Thanks Emma too, our postings must have crossed, so I didn't see yours until after mine!

I've got my 20 week scan on Monday. Don't know whether ignorance is bliss and I should wait until then or whether if there's a problem I should find out asap.

Think i'll wait until tomorrow morning and if there's no movement and I can;t bear it any longer, I'll go to the antenatal clinic.

Love

Rachel
x
Hi Rachel,

Try not to worry - easier said, i know! I really wasn't feeling anything until about 23 weeks and even then it was off and on. Midwife said it was probably just the way it was facing or a quiet day etc.......and the heartbeat was good and strong.

Do check it out if you want to put your mind at rest though - that's what they're there for.

Lots of luck for Monday - have fun seeing Herbie again,

Take care, Lizzy xxx
Hi Rachel,

my midwife suggested an iced drink or ice cream to wake baby, if things went too quiet. They lie on your bladder so anything cold tends to wake them up, I'm just not sure if 20 weeks would be too early for this to work. It's certainly worth a try though, as I know myself how worried and paranoid you get when they haven't moved for a while.

I'm sure all's well though.

Take care,
Suzanne.x
i dont want to make you worry, buut if you are worried then make them do a scan. dont wait. some times we get these feelings for a reason. it is most likely nothing but it would give you a chance to see your baby sooner.
we werent blessed with our babies to raise here but we our blessed with our grandaughter
and all of our many adopted and foster children that touch our lives
and i am glad to add that our 6th grandchild will be born this spring!!!!
Hi Rach

I know exactly where your coming from with the bonding of your unborn baby. Each day I rub my tummy and tell the baby how much I love him/her and Lee always rubs my tummy every day. Even when Lee sends me a text he says he loves me and bump now so I do understand how attached we can become before you hold the little baby in our arms.

Have you felt any movement yet?

I am at the midwife today at 10:45 so hoping everything will go ok, not sure if it is just a routine checkup. Oh no I just remembered I have been and had a wee and not done a sample, must squeeze one out before I go.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Love
Shell.
25wks 1d pg
xx
Hi Rachel, just to add to the others really, but I read an interesting thing from a midwife in a magazine recently - quite often you don't feel the baby move - the best thing to do is to remember that at this point he or she will be having definite sleep and waking periods, and as well as the icy drink thing - sit back and relax for a bit - quite often the baby is moving but you don't feel it.

Please let us know how you get on at your scan,
love Sally xx

Thank you all so much for your concern.

Luckily, I have felt Herbie a few times today. I had a letter throuogh this morning from the Health Visitor, introducing herself etc, so I rang her to make an appointment and just mentioned my concern. She said that because herbie is still so tiny, its difficult to feel him sometimes, and that he is probably sleeping, and also that he could be lying facing my back so I wouldn't feel his kicks etc. As I was chatting to her, he kicked!

Roll on Monday - the 20 week scan - that's the next milestone!

Again thank you all so much for your reassurance, you're all fab!

Love

Rachel
x
Hurrah! You must be so relieved.
I started to worry myself yesterday as I didn't feel Bob (Baby On Board!) move all day, but as soon as I lay back on the sofa to relax (and watch the Antiques Roadshow!!!!) he starting moving! I'm nearly 24 weeks, but didn't start to feel him moving much until I'd had the 20 week scan.

Ooo - just noticed it's scan day today - hope all goes well - please let us know as soon as you can!
love SAllyxx

I know exactly where Rach is coming from though Sally I didn't really have that much movement yesterday so was getting in a panic, I have had some movement today but not as much as I usually do but like you say each day we are not always going to feel the baby move.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Love
Shell.
xx
