Hi Everyone

Just to let you know I have been to see the midwife today and she said everything is going ok. She did mention something about my uterus still being hard and that with it being hard like it is its a wonder I don't have any discomfort. I did tell her that I have been getting aches and pains and she said the baby needs to work a little harder?? does anyone know how my uterus should be. She has also started a growth chart and I don't understand it all, whats systolic? Diastolic? Fundal Height? Can anyone advise me here?? I asked if I had anything to worry about with the uterus but she said no everything is ok, but it does worry you when you think something ain't right. Have to go back in 3 weeks for a checkup and to take my bloods, is bloods routine again, I will be 28 weeks then?
Love
Shell.
xx
Now Michelle, just stop worrying!!! The main thing is the midwife says everything is OK!!! I dont know much except that systolic and diastolic are the two numbers that make up a blood pressure reading, and the fundal height is something to do with I think how high the uterus is up the belly at the different stages - I saw a measurement of this in my pregnancy notes.

Blood tests are routine - so stop worrying, you're doing fine!! Be braver when you're with the midwife and don't be afraid of saying "can you explain that please, I don't understand". This is YOUR pregnancy and your baby and you are perfectly entitled to know what the terms all mean, in plain english!!!!

SMILE ......... IT'S ALL GOING FINE!!!! Jo. XXXXX

Calm down Shell!!!!

The systolic and diastolic are the readings taken when your heart relaxes and contracts to pump blood. When you have your bp taken it's expressed as one number 'over' another number - the systolic and diastolic. BP is monitored so closely in pregnancy so be reassured you're ok. The fundal height is how high your uterus is. If you lie down, you can feel the top of your uterus prob just above your tummy button - that's fundal height and it keeps growing!!!! Every time you go to your midwife she'll check that you're growing ok! Again, having blood taken at about 28 weeks is routine as they need to test for diabetes and anaemia. SO STOP PANICKING!

I'm going for my 24 week appt next Thurs so it will probably be me posting with worries!

I can't believe we thought tghe worrying would end once we got a positive result!!!!!!

Hope you're well otherwise, lots of love Sally xxx

Hi Shell

Glad eveything went well i have been thinking about you all day, glad eveything is going better, How is your cold now?

Rest and take care

Love Louise x x
Hi Lou

My cold seems to of eased off a little but not completely gone. I am hoping to go back to work on Monday providing I feel OK. When I went to the midwife she said I was ok with Honey and Lemon and I asked if I could put anything on my coldsores but she said no, she said the thing is being PG they don't really give anything so looks like I have to leave them to go on there own. They make me paranoid though because when people see me I can tell they are looking at them.

Love
Shell.
25wks 2d pg
xx
Hi Shell,
Ta for your post - yes I'm 23 weeks now, 24 weeks on Saturday. Don't know about you time really seems to be flying, whereas the first trimester seemed to drag on for ages! I've been logging on to the board every few days but work's been really busy, so when I get round to logging on and posting something always seems to happen to distract me (easy to do these days as my brain has completely turned to porridge!). Apart from feeling tired in the afternoons, and aching ribs at the end of the day or when I eat a large meal I feel fine touch wood. I'm having regular reflexology and I'm doing meditations so feel mostly calm and relaxed! Although I also am getting lots of coldsores - I woke up on Sunday morning and have a most attractive crop of about 10 blisters all clustered together near my mouth. Putting the contents of a vitamin E capsule on the blisters and also bathing them in diluted lemon juice is supposed to help. I've phoned the pharmacist at Boots who has said it's safe to use Zovirax, but am also waiting for my midwife to call back as I don't want to use any medicine unless it's totally safe. Think I might try the lemon juice first as it's supposed to be a good natural remedy.

We found out it's a boy - DH I think is secretly very pleased as he is getting really excited about toys !!! Bless!

The only thing (well, the major thing) I'm worried about for now is when we had the 20 week scan, it showed that my placenta has moved down so it's blocking the cervix and the baby is lying on top of it. LAzy baby! So I've got another scan at the hospital at 34 weeks (New Year's Eve!!!) and if the placenta hasn't moved, they will admit me for 3 weeks then do an early C Section. So part of my meditations now involve visualising my placenta moving up as I certainly don't fancy all that time in hosp!

Sorry to read you had a cold - damn immune system - make sure your'e getting loads of vit c, and I hope you're starting to feel better.
lol,
Sally xxx
