Polycystic Ovaries - Success with IVF?

Post by tinaO »

I have been told I have polycystic ovaries, which makes sense because I always had very irregular periods prior to starting on BCP's years ago. My husband and I have been TTC for 1 1/2 years now and I have gone through two IUI's and am most likely going to be starting IVF in the next few weeks (after 21 days on BCP).

Can some of you share success stories with me if you have polycystic ovaries and are trying IVF or have had success with IVF? My fertility center thinks it is our best bet because I have so many follicles and they are afraid of continuing the IUI's and stimulating too many eggs to ovulate.

Would love to hear some success stories....

Tina - I also have PCOS. I went straight to ivf because we also have some male fertility issues as well. My first ivf was last March but was cancelled due to OHSS. Luckily we had embies to freeze. I actually just went through my first FET and today got a BFP so I am supper excited. GOod luck to you and let me know if you have any other questions.

Banana - YEAH for you!!! Are you super excited??? I am sure you are!! I am glad to hear about your success story with PCOS and getting pregnant through IVF. I am just hoping I will be next!! We made the decision after our 2nd failed IUI that this makes much more sense.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D

Hi Tina

I also have PCOS (such a common condition!) I was advised not to try IUI because of the risk of multiple births casued by stimming too many follicles!

I had one fresh cycle that didn't work but got my BFP on a frozen cycle! As far as I know PCOS is one of the more easily treatable causes of infertility!

Good luck to you and I sincerely hope you get your BFP soon!

Hi, Crunchy. They are probably concerned about OHSS. I have heard it is more common in women with Polycystic ovaries because you can stimulate too many of them. I guess it could get dangerous because so many are growing at the same time. How many follicles do you have? When will they let you know if you can proceed or not with the ER?

I hope it works out for you. I am also afraid of the same thing happening to me - we are just starting our first round of IVF this month.

Good luck!!

I also have PCOS and we did several cycles of injectable drugs and timed intercourse and one IUI cycle that failed. we did our first IVF in sept they were only able to retreive 4 eggs and I was worried but all fertilized and made it to blasts. we had two transferred and two frozen. one took on the first transfer and I'm 10 weeks pregnant! Good luck!
